my family is in Van and we often Canada Post stuff over so it's not an issue.
Great list Rabitrat.
1) got the daiper genie platnium - i have no say... wife made decision
2) Huckleberry - is one I got.. key things for those who are also exepcting - we registered the kid's new address early / already so that's pretty cool.
3) we got the bottle sterilzer - i had no say
4) will look into Bottle warmer
b) wife got breast pump, i also had no say.
5) Burp cloths - got a few of these from church hand me down + baby shower gifts.
6) White noise - falk that... they can white noise to my snoring in the bassinet LOL. We got one. we'll see if that works.
As to camersa.
Looking for mirrorless.. see if i actually go and pick it up. I think key is to ensure it's image stablized and f1.8 lens. Can't complain to buy toys I guess.
I'm eager to make this again. |

I have a 7D2 and a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 kicking around if you're interested. Not mirrorless but pretty good

I've never used the Costco bags so I can't compared but I was really happy with the Ubbi bags - my memory is fuzzy but I recall they had a very light texture to them, almost like a carbon fibre weave which I, of course, liked.

Anyone ever take their little ones to a Vancouver Canadians game? I want to take my 6 year old to one but I imagine it'll be hard to keep her focused for 3 hours (not that I'll be focused for 3 hours - ballgames are for eating food and enjoying the weather). They have a play area at the Nat but I can't find any info on what it's like.

We did use the hospital machine though, they give you brand new parts so it's just the machine that's shared.

Having used an UBBI and a Diaper Genie... Definitely prefer the UBBI. As a poster mentioned above, the costco garbage bags (the white ones, I can't remember the exact size) fit perfectly in the UBBI.
To mask the smell, put some coffee grinds at the bottom of the pail (regardless of which one you choose). A system we set up was only to put urine diapers in the pail and poopy ones separate. When we lived in an apartment, we would throw out the poopy diapers daily (or every other day) with the other garbage. Since we moved to a house, we just keep a separate garbage bin on the porch to put the poopy diapers...
Speaking on pumps, Canada life let me claim a spectra pump I purchased from Target. This was back in early 2024 before Trump. My wife tried the hospital pumps and some others but liked the spectra the most.
Good luck!!!

Diaper Genied it with both kids so in total we used the same pale for like 7-8 years. I can't compare to others but never once did I walk into the room or even close to it and smelled anything and no I wasn't emptying that thing quickly too most of the time I'm letting that thing fill to the max.

I have a 2.5 year old that doesn't seem to have the mental capacity to understand to STOP pouring liquids out of his container all over the living room.
Even spill-proof containers, he's finding a way to shake or whatever to make it leak.
I have foam playmat tiles so every time there's a spill, I have to rip it all up to ensure the floor underneath is dry or my floorboards will get all warped.
Been dealing with this on/off for months, fucking fed up, need to stay calm before I start swinging and punch this kid in the face. At one point, he looked like he was making progress and would put the container on the counter top once he's done. Now he's just making a mess constantly.

In your case, can you get around the problem by using a single large play mat instead of the inter-locking foam tiles?
We have always had a one-piece 4-1/2 x 7 feet soft rubber play mat, so when spills happen, we just gotta make sure we get to the liquid before it runs off the edge to get to the laminate floor boards. IIRC we've never had a spill on the mat where the water spread beyond boundaries of the play mat.

/rant | Sorry dude, that's rough.
I have a 2 year old who just shook a whole spill-proof bottle of water into a spare twin mattress that we neglected to cover w/ waterproofing. I think I'm going to now have to toss it for fear of mold growing. I guess it's old anyway...

Has anyone read Good Inside?
Our older one (the 2y/o) is really good at getting on my nerves lol. I'm only a few chapters in, but this book's been really helping me understand how to get to the root of some of the more triggering behaviors. Incidentally, also helping me understand more about my wife and myself, and why we react and look at things differently. https://www.amazon.ca/Good-Inside...

He has a Little Tikes slide and some other wooden gym thing, so he needs a pretty big foam covered area.
The single soft playmat has not been used after he outgrew the play pen.
