the worst part of this game was seeing how atrocious their goaltending stats were recently but also they had a 0.986 save percentage against specifically our team.....
It would be a mistake to trade Schenn. We have to find a way to get rid of Poolman and Dickinson but.... who wants them is the question
Brock is a bit of a conundrum. Still young and very talented, hockey smart. Only real knock against him is foot speed and perhaps long droughts. I'd be very sad to see him go. Y'all have to remember when he first came in, he was one of the first beacons of hope we had seen since the collapse of our President's Trophy winning team. Recent years have seen us be spoiled by spectacular rookie seasons from Petey and Hughes. Brock has spectacular finish when he's on.
Definitely first beacon of hope it felt good at the time. I miss seeing him ripping those one timers on the PP. It was also nice to have someone on our team for the first time maybe since Nassy I guess who could just rip it and score there's just something satisfying about that. I guess the 30 goal year Kesler was the closest we had in between. I'd love to be a fly on the wall hearing the convos about what to do with our team, who stays who goes. Rumours are rumours but if any of them are remotely true about people wanting Myers you do that deal in a heartbeat I don't care what the return is if you have the ability to get rid of that cap space.

Hertl signs for 8 years at age 29 with San Jose…. $8M cap hit with 3 years NMC and 5 years NTC.
Team is positively handcuffed for the entire thing. Paying a 35+ Hertl $8M without being able to move him is going to be a very bad look. They’re already stuck with Couture till 38 at $8M, Karlson until 37 at 11.5M, Burns to 40 at $8M, Vlasic to 39 at $7M… wooooooffffff….
As an aside, JT Miller’s agent posted the Jerry Maguire “Show me the money” gif on Twitter in response to the signing.

The disturbing trend with the Canucks is their slow starts at the beginning of games.
The first period of the game against Detroit last night was awful. -constant turnovers of the puck.
Why can't this team put in a better effort to start EVERY game? Be ready to play a strong game starting from the first shift. Brutal effort from this team at the start of the games.
It's like a fire drill gone haywire with this team in their zone in the first period of games.
If this team plays with this kind of effort at the beginning of games against Calgary, Buffalo, Minnesota, Dallas this week and next week, forget about a wild card spot.
Blow up the core of this team. Fire sale! Maybe it is time to have a serious look at trading players for assets to rebuild.
Many passengers are on this team now. Boeser was invisible again. It's either the players are bad at passing pucks or Brock bobbles the puck when it's passed to him.
Is OEL playing hurt?

We did not outplay Detroit last night... high danger scoring changes were like 15-5 in favour of Detroit.
The Nucks had the puck and was buzzing around the DET end quite a bit but the defenders boxed the nucks out pretty good and there just wasn't a lot of grade A chances for them.
That being said, I did notice the Nucks bobbled the puck a lot.
Boeser had one go off the toe and one off the heel of his stick when he was going to shoot.
Pucks bounced over his stick or hit his blade and bounced away.
Overall, the Nucks played slow. No quick crisp passes. On the PP, the passing was so slow that DET players would cheat and get to the puck first.
Then you had the lines. Petey with Petan and Chaisson.
the hockey that was played last night really resembled the beginning of the season with Green on the bench.

I miss Jovanovski... how many times did my balls go into my throat when he'd make like he was going to go behind the net with the puck and then make a cut last second in front and deke the forechecker right in front of our own goal.
Meyers remind me of Edler for some reason. Big guy afraid to play to his size. Same with OEL. Can we get someone like juice back? Lol
I feel bad for these guys. Coaches expect/demand them to play big and play heavy just because they are big, but it takes a certain type of personality to play that way. It's too bad, as hockey is such a physical game and size is such a big advantage if used well.

Exactly. Come playoff time, you need the D to play tough and finish checks. Wear down the other forwards. Did you see Petey turtle when he shot the puck after the whistle yesterday? Mind you he was asking for it but god damn at least try to defend yourself instead of turtle.
