Unlikely.

And any team that would sell out to get him is gonna be a shitty draft position.

I would still keep Miller. Like bobbinka said, unless it's player(s) that can immediately make an impact and contribute then it doesn't make sense. Trading Miller away would be detrimental to the team and you'll waste good years out of players like Horvat, Demko, Hughes. I think Boeser has been doing okay but definitely not living up to his contract and it's no secret how Petey is doing but those 2 are still young and they can show us how great they can be. They've definitely been better under Bodreau so far though.

Bo only has 1 more year after this season, and if we are trading away our best players to rebuild/retool, he's not sticking around. Petey has 2 more years, and same thing for him.

A top 4 D would be nice, but I wouldnt do it at the expense of your points leader.

It'll be interesting to see what JR & Co. do, given they have no attachment to any of the pieces.

Ohhh tough call. Can't disagree about whatever you get back no matter how juicy will take us back a couple years at least. That being said, the cap is the cap and we have decisions to make. Boeser is up for at minimum 7.5 qualifying offer and Bo has one more year. Ok so you don't trade Miller and maybe you end up not resigning or trading Boeser but there's also no guarantees Miller will resign in a year too. Either way, someone is leaving, just depends who and how. Plus we need to get some additional D no matter what this group no matter how well they play just doesn't cut it and we'll need cash for that too. Even being an armchair GM this is a tough one to figure out.

Heart and logic says keep Miller over Boeser if that's what it comes down to. Miller yea he's older at I think 28 now 29/30 when his deal is up but I believe he still has plenty of decent years left. Plus what he offers is way harder to replace than Boeser imo. I like Boeser, yea the points aren't there but a scoring winger is way easier to replace than trying to fill Millers shoes. Decisions decisions. Thank god we have Demko and Hughes locked up for a while at very reasonable - good rates. Jim definitely was always great at resigning guys, most of the time.

With exception to Hughes and Demko, our core guys are just not that good. Take away Miller and Garland and who do the Canucks have for point producers?

Well… I like Garland but why did you pick him? He’s tied with Petey and only 1 point up on Horvat and Boeser…

Scoring wise it’s basically just Miller, Hughes and then a bunch of good / capable guys rounding out the top 6.

We don’t have a McDavid or a Draisaitl…. But it’s true of the Oilers too… McDavid has 58, Draisaitl has 59… but their 3rd scorer has 28 points (Nugent Hopkins) which would also be 3rd on the Canucks… pretty much the same situation… take the to 2 guys away what do they have?

Only the super elite teams like Tampa or Florida have guys in the 3-7 spots at 30+ points.

Miller and Garland are not our core guys. They were brought in to help our core guys. Petey is suppose to be our Draisaitl. However if our core guys are producing like Miller we dont need a McDavid.

You need depth scoring.

Look at the oilers, if draisaitl and mcdavid is not on their game, it's hard for the oilers to win especially if their goalie can stop shit.

We live and die on our top guys too. Hughes, Petey, Miller, and Boeser is having a bad game. Tough luck.

We need scoring depth beyond these guys. Need players who can drive play and drive a line. Look at how Nylander in Toronto can score and play on the second and third line while contributing on the PP.

Like if an opponent can shut down our PP1 of miller, bo, boeser, hughes, and petey, they have no one to worry about on pp2.

But having the motto lammiko and highmore line and how they can score now, it changes the team a lot.

if it's a late 1st and prospect, i much rather keep miller right now. If we can somehow get a NHL rdy forward, d, and 1st, that'd be my starting ask price.

His teammates came out with a statement in support of the guy ... so take this for what it's worth. Again, not defending him as I said before but just don't think he should be tried and sentenced in a day by SM. And don't go ... 'it's his teammates, what do you expect'. They could have said nothing. I'm sure one or more of the guys on his team has some sort of integrity The fact that they were willing to risk their reputation by making this statement says something. They have nothing to gain but everything to lose by doing this in the court of public opinion.

Former ECHL teammates release statement in support of Jacob Panetta
Here's the statement in full:

Please let us take the time to shed light on the incident that occurred on Saturday, January 22, 2022, in a game between Jacksonville Icemen and the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.

During Overtime, an on-ice scrum occurred between our teammate Jacob Panetta and South Carolina’s Jordan Subban. The incident escalated as payers of the Stingrays joined in on the altercation. We knew penalties were going to be given out for their actions and we wanted the Powerplay to try and win the game. In the heat of the moment, we didn’t realize why the altercation had escalated as it did and is also why we refrained from jumping on the ice in defence of Jacob.

The perception in which Jacob’s actions were taken by some were not the way in which they intended to be. We have seen Jacob do this many times before to those not of color and can be seen doing so in our previous games. The way in which he has been harassed, shamed and threatened is truly not okay for him or anyone. These perceived gestures do not reflect or depict our friend and teammate we have grown to admire and respect today. Jacob is a man of character, filled with kindness, sincerity and compassion for others and we truly believe his actions were not racially motivated.

Jacob has been portrayed and put into an unimaginable position by the league, media, our organization, as well as others. As his teammates and for those who know him, know the man he really is. We also know that as a hockey player and more importantly as a person does not deserve this. Please consider seeing both sides of this situation and the evidence that has been supported, while understanding the severity and impact that this has brought to him and others.

With that we would like to express our empathy with Jordan Subban, the Subban family, and those who may have been affected by these actions. We fully understand now, as well as others, how Jacob’s actions could be perceived and how those actions have impacted so many across the World. For this, we are truly saddened and sorry for all the harm that it has caused.

As we move forward, we need to recognize the challenges we face in society as well as in the game of hockey. We are choosing to stand together in UNITY and want to extend our hand to help educate and support in ENDING RACISM. We acknowledge that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done and we are committed in helping strive for EQUALITY. We hope the Subban family and others choose to see Jacob’s actions for what they really were and come TOGETHER in SOLIDARITY.

if he really wants to clear his name, he better get on the ECHL/OHL video archives that shows him doing that taunt. Without video no ones gonna believe him. The more time passes the more guilty he will seem to be in the public eye. I thought he was guilty till i heard his apology so im keeping an open mind. Heck theres people out there that found him guilty just by reading the original headline.

The Official 2021/2022 Canucks & NHL Thread

Damn, Myers with a big shoulder hit to Trevor Lewis’ head.

Of course, the idiot refs miss the penalty call on Lewis extending his arm into Meyers face.

Myers with the retaliatory hit.

Five minute major and match penalty for Meyers.
