Friedman mentioned rumours during one of the intermissions last night in the Canucks vs Calgary game about New Jersey showing interest in acquiring Garland.

Can we get another Hughes from NJ out of it?

Trade for Petey? Assuming he did sign with Canucks long term it will be roughly that same amount. Maybe little less than Jack Hughes tho.

bobbinka 01-30-2022 03:59 PM

Not sure why NJ would be looking to trade for Garland right now, they're even lower standing then we are. At best, it would be after the season is over.

But if all the rumors are true, or at least give the indication that the players are available, then maybe we're looking to tank for the remainder of the season.

For this, we are truly saddened and sorry for all the harm that it has caused.

As we move forward, we need to recognize the challenges we face in society as well as in the game of hockey. We are choosing to stand together in UNITY and want to extend our hand to help educate and support in ENDING RACISM. We acknowledge that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done and we are committed in helping strive for EQUALITY. We hope the Subban family and others choose to see Jacob’s actions for what they really were and come TOGETHER in SOLIDARITY.

If the teammates felt that strongly for their Jacob, maybe they should all walk out on the team and force the team to take back releasing Jacob.
Making a public statement in this case doesn't affect them. Walking out on the team does.

But you missed one of the most important things they said.
The players feel empathy now and learned from the experience why Subban reacted the way he did.

In this case, if you read between the lines, no it was not overblown. If things didn't happen the way it did, Jacob would continue to go around making the strong man gesture to other people of color and not think anything of it.

SkinnyPupp 02-01-2022 04:23 PM

WOW what a turnover by the Preds and the CANUCKS STRIKE!

Under Greene it would have been a 2 on 1 dump and chase KEKW

SkinnyPupp 02-01-2022 04:41 PM

Canucks fall asleep, let 2 goals in, crowd starts going insane, then boom, tie game on a fluttering shot from the blue line that bounced off a body KEKW

spoon.ek9 02-01-2022 06:34 PM

Regardless of her qualifications, this is the quote that won me over:

So you just have to say something witty against Benning and you get a job here at Canucks?

Guess that explains why there are so many new hires and candidates

68style 02-02-2022 04:27 PM

I hope she works out, I been listening to some of her podcast and stuff… she comes across as very smart but also extremely / annoyingly “know it all” and borderline cocky, which shouldn’t surprise me given other conversations I’ve had these days with similarly aged people.

She also trashed the entire Canucks d-corps outside of Hughes so I’m sure they’re happy to know she’s here hahaha

whitev70r 02-02-2022 06:02 PM

Analytics to me is the difference between classroom and real life. Someone who can write an A+ report in Engineering class at UBC might know dick all when it comes to working in the real life with consultants, architects, client, etc.

SkinnyPupp 02-02-2022 06:13 PM

I don't know about NHL, but analytics started making a huge splash in the NFL over the last 5-7 years, led by Baltimore, KC, New England and SF. It's become more refined over the years and is pretty fascinating to look into. Looking at those teams over the last 5-7 years, I think you can say it's become a pretty important part of the game.

TV announcers and twitter experts think that "analytics = going for it on 4th down" but it's not just that.

If Rutherford saw success with it in Pittsburgh and wants to bring it to Vancouver, I am pretty excited about that.

People will certainly try to trash this person, for reasons.

68style 02-02-2022 09:30 PM

I think analytics is hyper important for teams especially in evaluating players… would have saved us from a host of bad signings

whitev70r 02-02-2022 10:05 PM

Athletes like Evander Kane and Antonio Brown would be off the analytic charts.
