Nope. Penguins did nothing, lol.

Totally agree, it should easily be 16 games. And his ass should have been fined till it hurts ... like 1/2 a year's salary, $4.5M or something, if it was possible. I know it's not cuz of NHLPA but still ...

whitev70r 02-10-2022 07:36 AM

First time that Holland fired a coach mid-season ... maybe because it was the 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks that was the final straw.

68style 02-10-2022 07:52 AM

I can't believe it took the Oilers that long to move on from the coach... whether he was the problem or not their play was emotionless and abysmal to anyone watching them.

And WTF is up with the Canadiens hiring Martin St. Louis as a coach... guy has almost zero coaching experience?!

highfive 02-10-2022 08:27 AM

Hilarious that Green hasn't been scooped up right away by other teams! According to our local media folks. haha

MTL is more of missing Weber and Price. (I feel like it's the canucks last season losing Tanev and Markstrom after the bubble) Two big figures who play the toughest minutes gone.

pastarocket 02-10-2022 08:39 AM

Official announcement from the team. Another assistant GM hiring.

Canucks poached from the Krak heads. LUL

I honestly can't see any NHL team hiring Green as a HC... Showing what Bruce has done with the same roster and changes he's made that Green wouldn't proves that Green is not an NHL coach.

68style 02-10-2022 09:01 AM

^ I wouldn’t go that far… his message just got tuned out after too long. His record overall wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t awful either given the crap team he inherited at the time.

I think a lot of it could be fixed just by not being so arrogant about experience over possibility… but you could say that about 3/4 of the NHL.

I know someone who works directly with the team and players and they said their biggest problem with Green is that he was super controlling and micromanaging in every aspect even down to how he wants other staff to talk to the players and what they can say to them, etc.

Noo...
There goes Canucks chance to pass them in the standings.
Will Oilers go on a mini win streak now?

Hondaracer 02-10-2022 10:32 AM

Green will probably get an assistant gig somewhere

SumAznGuy 02-10-2022 10:41 AM

For all we know, maybe he turned down those offers to take a bit of a break.

I think he might be better suited for coaching in the AHL if he is so anal and micromanaging

whitev70r 02-10-2022 11:14 AM

Isn't Green still getting paid ... enjoy some time off!

Although I know if a coach stays on a shelf too long, his stock goes down. Same goes for GM.

I know babcock is getting paid. lol

68style 02-10-2022 12:28 PM

In the past 5 years, Canucks ownership have paid about $8M to coaches that don't work for the organization anymore.

Tortorella was fired with $6M over 3 years left... Desjardins was fired with 1 year left on an undisclosed contract and Green was fired with about $1.5M left to pay out.

I honestly don't know how FA didn't sent Dim Jim out for a swim.

Wasn't Torts an FA hire, not a Dim Jim hire.

^ Yah I think you're right... fair enough... but geez so much wasted time/money

SkinnyPupp 02-10-2022 02:19 PM

I still think Green is a good coach.. Up until the last part of the bubble the team played VERY hard for him all the time. Something just snapped and it stopped working, but it seemed to be pretty good for a while. Maybe he's a better assistant than head coach, or maybe he needs a good assistant.

yeah, I think it was a combination of many factors.

Green looked good in the bubble when Petey and the rest of the team was playing lights out.

Right now Demko is playing lights out but quite a few guys are not playing up to their pay.

Just heard that Ray Ferraro is Cammi Granato's husband, I kinda knew that but just reminded of the connection. Cammi gets an Assistant GM position before husband ... :lol. I guess Ray can continue to do commentating on TSN although I haven't heard him for a LONG time. Is he still with TSN?

bobbinka 02-10-2022 05:57 PM

Saw this on reddit, lol

TSN is proud to announce their new Canucks Insider. This new source has very intimate knowledge with one of the team's executives.

whitev70r 02-10-2022 06:01 PM

Strategic to leak certain things through 'insiders' before official announcements. All teams do that.

Think he’s on an American broadcaster now.

Way back now when he was on TSN some caller called in and was saying basically he was the bitch in the relationship and Cammy was the man and he fucking snappeddddd live on air lol..damn that must have been like 15+ years ago now

68style 02-10-2022 06:11 PM

Hahahaha oh man that’s some kinda cruel trolling

spoon.ek9 02-10-2022 08:06 PM

ferraro said on the radio recently (before rutherford et al) that he would love to be part of a management team in the NHL and that he would definitely hear what teams what come to him with. i suppose his wife got the call instead :lol

teggy604 02-10-2022 08:14 PM

So we got a president of hockey ops, GM and 2 assistant gm. Where was all this structure when Benning was in. I guess he was everything lol.
