2024 BC Lions

Looks like the CFL survived COVID. In pursuit of the Grey Cup. The oldest professional football trophy in North America. This will be the 109th, I believe. Want to see BC Lions engraved on it, hee hee.......... not likely.

Anyway, looking forward to the games. Like I've mentioned before, win or lose, I'll always follow them. This will be the second year without our family friend, Kato, on the sidelines. RIP.

Roar, Lions, ROAR!!

Addendum: This year's Grey Cup game will be held in Kisiskatchewanisipi (Saskatchewan, for you non indigenous guys, lol).

I might go to a game or two now that I haven't smoked in a couple years.

MG1 04-29-2022 04:42 PM

Last season tailgating was not allowed............ just did a search and found this. I imagine it's from years ago

Then, there's Calgary..........

no fun allowed in Vancouver, right. I went to a Stamps game a few years ago,and got right lit before the game, and scarfing down burgers and dogs. John Hufnagel came by and made sure we were having fun, no way that would happen here.

I dearly miss Empire Stadium. Hell, I even miss watching hockey at the Pacific Colosseum. Oh, and baseball at the Nat.

68style 04-29-2022 11:54 PM

I thought I missed hockey at the PC for awhile after they moved, but it’s actually a pretty abysmal place, especially by todays standards.

MG1 04-30-2022 03:58 AM

I was referring to the atmosphere of those places. Venues have to keep up with the times. Technology, creature comforts, etc. Empire Stadium. The view of the mountains. Then again, the rain, lol. Fans would be crying the blues.

They are the one venues that have actually adapted to the times. At least prior to Covid. They were attracting a younger demographic and actually doing a much better job with cheap beers, etc. than the Lions had previously.

A friend mentioned they will have $20 tickets this season? Might be a step in the right direction

Friday is game day......... the Green are in town. 7:00 pm.

Blue Jays game could be over by then.

MG1 06-03-2022 06:10 PM

Looking forward to Nathan Roarke. Canadian QB. Like, wow!

Kickoff about to start

Orange is the new green...................

Realistically, Saskatchewan is going to roll over BC.

pastarocket 06-06-2022 07:42 AM

The Lions win! Home game opener victory against the Green Riders!

20-18! It's only a pre-season victory though. An early sign of a winning season?

Roar Lions roar!

68style 06-06-2022 07:47 AM

^ They got hammered the game before against Calgary I think didn't they? like by 40 points or more lol

MG1 06-06-2022 11:08 AM

That wasn’t the season opener.

That’s why both starting QBs played less than a full game. The other QB for BC, another Canadian, did a decent job. Is it just me, or are the play by play, color, and panel sound like they’re high on drugs or something. It’s like they’re overdoing things a bit. TSN camera work was pretty good. Crisp and sharp. Way better than Sportsnet. Now if you can get coverage of TSN with announcers from Sportsnet (at least Blue Jays staff), it’d be pretty awesome.

Next game will be the season opener. Against the Elks at BC Place Stadium. Should be Edmonton Elk and not Elks, yes? Like Toronto Maple Leaves, lol.

Sitting in McDonalds in Ferndale mooching off their Wi-Fi. Hee hee………..

I'm not Lions fan per say but definitely just a fan of wanting to see our local teams have success. I'll keep tabs of all our teams and watch highlights at the very least. I heard the lower bowl was selling really well so they might consider opening up the top? Would be nice to see a solid crowd it has looked sad for so long.

68style 06-08-2022 09:43 PM

I’m going to the game on Saturday

MG1 06-08-2022 09:49 PM

Awesome, let us know how crazy, or not, the fans get. I love CFL football games. You are expected to go crazy..................

Hondaracer 06-09-2022 06:49 AM

Surprised they are selling out, haven’t really seen much change in terms of marketing etc.

whitev70r 06-09-2022 07:00 AM

I've got tix ... wife's company was raffling off 50 tickets and we won 2. Maybe a lot of corporate giveaways to get to near sold out status? There is absolutely nothin about the BC Lions that should generate any buzz ... no big name signings, no promising results, etc.

Hondaracer 06-09-2022 07:05 AM

The new owner and the commissioner got completely grilled by Halford and Brough on 650 these past weeks. The commissioner basically said “we need to get younger fans” without any sort of plan

Doman, the new owner seemed a little more optimistic but he really didn’t lay out anything substantial that made me want to go. Honestly a sold out lions crowd is almost a deterrent to me going lol.. If the upper bowl is open I may be more willing to go and have some space In the section, but then again it turns into a big hassle with concessions etc. if they just half ass open the upper bowl and funnel everyone to 2 concessions it totally ruins the experience

winson604 06-09-2022 08:02 AM

So what was the Big Lions news if any recently? I recall an interview with the new owner say maybe 4 months ago? He said there was something big coming but he can't reveal it yet. So what was it lol

Hondaracer 06-09-2022 08:04 AM

Some sort of concert that hasn’t been advertised? Lol

whitev70r 06-09-2022 08:47 AM

One Republic ... 30 mins concert before game.

Bif Naked too!!

Good lord how old is she now??

mikemhg 06-10-2022 10:06 AM

BC Lions is actually my client, I'm having lunch with their head office folks in July.

I'll pick their brains to see what the hell has changed, outside of new ownership of course.

The new owner is young and engaged, so I'm sure they have a good plan ahead.
