Interesting... For the 2025-26 season, EDM, VGK and MTL each have 17 Canadian players (out of 26-28 players on their season opening rosters).
Next closest are TOR, NSH and SEA with 13 Canadians.

Fans can root for any team for any reason they want. For most it's because that's the city they grew up in. For some it's because the team is based in their country. For others it's a specific player. Or maybe they just like the colour of the jerseys.
Sports teams do "win it for you" if you're a rooting fan. That is up for you to decide as a viewer, because the relationship only goes one direction. You root for a team, and if they win, you get the excitement that comes with it. They "win it" for all their fans, it doesn't matter what city they're in or what other teams they like..
I admit that it is easier to root for other teams when your main team sucks ass and has shitty ownership  | |

-wonder if they Laffs coaching staff and players were taking notes about the Coilers series clinching win. 
Edmonton played a tight defensive game in the neutral zone. -neutralized Jack Eichel and the rest of the forwards. Skinner stood on his head for the second straight game. Impressive.
Meanwhile, the Laffs suffer a 6-1 blowout loss to the Panthers. A Laffs team with no heart. A team that barely has a pulse. A complete joke of a "captain" in Matthews and no-show Marner in game 5.
The Laffs can start booking their tee time for the golf course very soon.
They are cooked in game 6.

Oilers have the 2 best players in the world. It isn’t rocket science lol. And both of them have the ability to elevate their games in the playoffs which almost no one on the leafs seems to have. Ironically Willy seems to be the only one that kind of does.
Canucks are trash but if you can’t win a cup with the best players the game has.. well.. lol

The depth of the Coilers' forwards and Skinner's play in net for the last two games for Edmonton helped them clinch their series against Vegas.
There's no doubt that McDavid and Draisaitl played a huge part in winning games with their offence. It's the buy-in from no. 97 and no. 29 in back checking and playing a better 200 foot game to defend in the Oilers zone and neutral zone from all players and better goaltending which helped them beat Vegas.
When you have players like old man Perry, Kane, Henrique, and Kapanen score goals, it shows you how much offensive depth the Oilers have.
This team is not just a two-headed monster. They have players on every line who can score goals and make plays to generate scoring chances. Scoring goals by attacking the net or scoring off the rush. Then you have Skinner playing much better. Players playing the system right to ensure that Vegas had very few odd man rushes towards the Coilers net. Vegas power play didn't have that many quality scoring chances either for the past two games. Edmonton's PK was pretty solid.
The Laffs so-called offensive depth with their best players Nylander, Tavares, Marner, and Matthews don't play a 200 foot game and backcheck. If they don't score enough goals, they are cooked in playoff games because the Laffs defensive game is pretty bad.

The Stanley Cup is arguably the most difficult trophy to win in professional sports. Just because you have the two of the best players doesn't guarantee you a championship. McDavid and Draisaitl can only do so much - they can't score, defend, and make saves every single shift, and they can't play 48 minutes per game. They also get banged up throughout the season and series the deeper they get.
There are many things that need to align in order to win the cup: stay healthy, get on a streak, contributions from the whole lineup, etc. and a bit of luck.
I'm also convinced Bettman stacks the cards against Canadian teams behind the scenes...

That seems to be an understanding that's lacking in so many fans that say teams are "losers" when they aren't winning cups. It's near fucking impossible in the modern NHL. Just enjoy it when your teams winning and turn it off if you let it ruin your life when they aren't lol. The rage from overzealous sports fans is painful to watch.

However, Mcdavid and Draisatl are a leg up that no other teams have. Draisaitl alone is better than virtually every other teams top playoff performer.

Marner is the Canadian version of EP40. Lol talented but not hard working and has a huge ego.

Jets completely dominated that game, from beginning to end. They did pretty much the same in the last game though, and they lost that one
They had like 10 really good chances before one finally went in off someone's skate. Total fluke, and then they continued scoring from there, including a 5 on 3.
Just have to hope they keep going in, and keep playing well defensively

LONDON, ONT. – Justice Maria Carroccia has discharged the jury in the trial of five former members of Canada’s 2018 world junior hockey team.
Carroccia thanked the 14 jurors and dismissed them on Friday morning. The trial will now continue by judge alone.

Damn if they have to do this all over again because of procedural error or a mistrial declared.
Have not seen weirder case. There was already a 'false start' as first group of jury was dismissed and then they had to go through jury selection again for this group ... who was now dismissed.

I'm sure that many of those jury members are breathing a sigh of relief now. They can get on with their lives instead of spending their time as juror in a high profile case.
