Didn't get to watch the game as I was at work. I miss the days when people would post extended highlights to youtube so you could get a better sense of the game than the usual short highlights

to be fair, I don't know how much better Lankinen would have been against the Americans.. I am a bit surprised they didn't give him a mercy pull though. 6 goals is a rough ride.

I agree they probably weren't winning that game, but watching the highlights so any of the US goals Saros is laying on his belly with his legs out and looking so small in the net, he didn't get over to cut down angles well and especially the long shot by Tkachuk, tipped or not he had a CLEAR look at it and just boffed it.
Lank's been stopping those types of in close chances the US scored on all season.
We're in tough on Saturday though, Binnington is a poor choice at goalie for Canada.

Hopefully our defensive structure is enough to make up for goaltending. It is for sure our biggest weakness. Either way, I'm expecting Saturday's game to be pretty damn entertaining. Especially with the added fuel from this trade war.

Cause they actually have something to play for whereas there's no reason for an all stars. Seems like some of the players don't even want to go to all stars and they rather have a break/vacation

They'll be doing a World Cup of hockey in 2028 with players representing their countries, sandwiched between Olympics in 2026 and 2030. This 4 nations tournament is just a sampler.
As exciting as it is compared to the All Stars, i'm sure the league will still want to do that in the other years.

Putting the all-star game on off years between the Olympics and World Cup is fine imo, you don't really want to do these best on best tournaments every year or it'll lose a little bit of excitement as well.

Damn it always sucks losing to the US but this one stings. Hopefully we beat Finland and make an epic comeback to beat them on US soil and ruin the party.
