Personally, I don't buy the fact that cars need to be bigger to make them capable of meeting higher crash standards. If you look back at the older cars from the 90's, a common theme that you'll repeatedly see is -- there is a lot less room between the front driver and passenger seats. The cars were just narrower. Nowadays, the gap / tunnel between those 2 seats is easily 3 - 4x wider. That's easily a 10cm growth in width that doesn't really contribute too much to vehicle safety. But it does make the cabin more comfortable.

You gotta respect the miata for keeping to its original lightweight formula unlike the beetle which they turned into a GT

Badhobz 10-23-2025 10:23 PM

^absolutely. Mad respect for even shrinking the ND from the NC (which was getting a bit large) and bucking the trend of getting ever bigger cars.

p.s. fuck you beetle.

Wait it looks way more than 5.7cm are you sure that's correct? 993s looks so tall and skinny. And 27cm is less than a foot.

And yes people have spoken

They just replaced their CEO and Oliver Blume (CEO of VW) admitted their strategy does not work. They made cars like the Taycan EV variants that not only failed, but was not what their customers wanted.

Women say this to cope with their shitty driving. If they take someone out, at least THEY ARE SAFE.

There, I said what everyone else was thinking :concentrate:

JDMDreams 10-24-2025 12:07 AM

I watched this YouTube video about Porsche, they said Taycan sold decent, it's just that it has shit reliability, and people were pissed that their $2000 a month car is sitting at the dealers months at a time.

Uberdeep almost ran me over today when I was crossing the road on Kingsway x Gilley. Damn SE Sentra.. that piece of shit has no crash safety.. i would've been splattered.

JDMDreams 10-24-2025 08:03 AM

Remember it's flip flop season, no flip flop no crash :troll:

Are they actually safer in crash tests, or do people just assume they're safer because they're larger?

Not to mention part of the reason we need more safety added to vehicles is because of how massive and heavy the other ones on the road have become. There's way more kinetic energy crashing into you.

Porsche and other German manufacturers lost a lot of the Chinese market share and their buyers to Tesla, Lucid and Rivian. The upper end evs seem to be suffering the most with the depreciation and if they don't have a competitive product.

Well, if he takes care of his wheels and tires like he does ... you can only imagine that no piece of dirt , leaf, or rain stays on this car for more than 2-3 hrs, tops.

Yes not having a heating steering wheel does suck. God damn wood is so cold. I only have heated seats like a poor person.

The funny thing is the hood "scoop" is fake. However, you do get proper ducts to the fairly large front brakes, and inter-cooler etc.

Not a bad bit of kit (but needs an LSD!)

Does it just feel like you have the sunroof open? Cuz you have that back section protecting you from the wind

No, it feels as open as the soft top I had a chance to drive last week, to me at least. The rear section is nice though, it seems to keep me in a nice heat bubble when I have the top down, windows up, and the heat on. A downside of the RF is that it has more wind buffeting noise than the ST for sure. You can mitigate some of that by putting the windows down an inch or so when you're at speeds of 100km/h+.
