yep

i go weeks without driving this car - and then a quick zip around the block and i remember it's not only my best car now, but it's probably the best car I've ever owned as an all rounder.

i'd have to drive it back to back w an Mk8 to see if the diff improvements and extra power outweigh that it's just nowhere near as good looking as the Mk7.

... oh that color, spektrum ftw. :damn:

Badhobz 10-20-2025 07:33 AM

MK8 and 8.5 are pretty shit in comparison. At least it is if you pay MSRP at 42k for the GTI and 62k for the Golf R.

The so called benefits of the 8 and 8.5 are near as no difference but you lose a significant step in quality and refinement. The 7 and the 7.5 are the last of the great golfs.

At least my golf was cheap monthly, but it was also CHEAAAAPPP.... drivetrain was thankfully okay, but infotainment, interior materials, even the doors themselves were tinny and hollow. you can tell the cost cutting was rampant.

AstulzerRZD 10-20-2025 07:45 AM

I say this owning a mk7 TSI and driving a 6MT 7.5 on Ohlins in seattle.
I think we're being a bit dramatic, the mk7 were incredible at 25k USD but not nice enough to miss.

IMO current civic comes close enough

You sound like a man who's ready to for the next step in opulence & luxury. No expense spared. Power. Refinement. *whisper* status..

Accept no substitute, Hobz. Murano.

One day Hobz and Donk will show up at a meet in Murano Cross and Evoque convertibles to announce their engagement

Badhobz 10-20-2025 08:05 AM

one of these days..... it would be so fun to have it fitted with 22's and watch my wife drive it into holt renfrew.

68style 10-20-2025 08:12 AM

Like… literally into? Richmond style?

Badhobz 10-20-2025 08:15 AM

probably run over those poor Latvian valet boys. i really like those boys, we always have a fun chat and laugh about the sheer amount of idiot women who come to holt. Everyday they see these dumb asses scrub their bumpers against the walls and pillars.

bcrdukes 10-20-2025 08:29 AM

I'm curious what causes the top to fail so notoriously? Nothing money can't fix! :D

Badhobz 10-20-2025 08:44 AM

the cost of fixing the top will be higher than the cost of the vehicle. Repairs in the 10-20k range are not unheard of on this car (ive done a lot of research)

Apparently all the hydraulics are super weak and can barely support the closure. Plus nobody makes any aftermarket components for it because why would anyone invest in R&D for this piece of shit, along with numerous sensors and potential leaks and things that could and will go wrong. Plus there is no manual option to fix the top if it fails. It'll turn into a giant wind sail and send spy balloon into orbit.

RabidRat 10-20-2025 09:15 AM

You keep saying words, but all I'm hearing is "perfect fit for Hobz".

Guaranteed unreliability? 10's of thousands of dollars in repairs of leaks and sensor fail?

Does that remind you of something? A yearning tingle in your pants that you couldn't quite get your finger on, this whole time?!

You want it!!!!!!!

bcrdukes 10-20-2025 09:15 AM

That sounds like the perfect car for you, no? :suspicious:

RabidRat 10-20-2025 09:26 AM

Apparently the roof gets stuck like this.

That's perfect :lol

Nice BMW.

AstulzerRZD 10-20-2025 01:52 PM

corolla has never looked as good as it does in red flame

roastpuff 10-20-2025 02:03 PM

Typical BMW parking, not even in a parking spot SMH

Badhobz 10-20-2025 03:02 PM

These Lexus fuckers are weird. Who just randomly parks a million dollar LFA around a car park.

Agreed

I drove an MK8 for a week and the haptic touch buttons everywhere and the UI really ruined the car for me

Picked up this week. Looking forward to taking some photos with it next to the mini.

The Producer 10-22-2025 08:44 AM

really interested to hear how you like it. this ticks the box for me for EV - interesting, useful design and the range to get to whistler and back. with a livery on the side - no brainer shop vehicle.

my cousin has one of these in London (short wheelbase though). I wish we got that spec here.
