I have had many Goretex snow pants for snowboarding. At one point I'd swear by them and they were the only thing I'd buy. But nowadays, you'd be lucky to find a Gore-tex snow pants for under $500. It might be something to do that I prefer the bib type, but still.
Then I was given a few pairs of Chinese snowpants to try them out. They were rated for 20k mm waterproof. And I have to say, although they aren't Gore-tex, but at $100-$150 a pop, I'm reconsidering any of my future Gore-tex purchases.
I don't mean Gore-tex are bad, but they aren't worth the premium considering the cheaper version has easily 80% of the performance for 1/4 of the price.

I spoke to appliance place, they said they'll take care of the bill. It's the 3rd party delivery company that was the issue unfortunately, not even the delivery guys so much because I wasn't mad they originally damaged the fridge, accidents happen and I wasn't mad at them for a stupid policy their company had they were just the messenger.
Seems like it's all sorted, in the moment I was a little peeved though.

Not all gore-Tex is created equal. I have a volcom gore Tex jacket that was like $350 and I swear I could shower in that thing. Also no issues with breathability. I had a burton AK gore Tex jacket that was similar in price and you could wring that thing out after a day of riding.

There's different levels of Gore-tex. You got your regular run of the mill gore tex, gore-tex pro, gore-tex pro-max. Well not really but you get the idea.
Remember it's just a membrane not the entire fabric, so if you've got a good outershell surrounding it, it's less likely to get waterlogged and you'll feel like it's working better.

Don't forget to take care of your Gore Tex products. Careful washing, drying, and application of the repellent will ensure its durability.

My friend bought some water repellant spray last year, I'll ask him what it was he bought. Can use that on my jacket. I just need a good pair of pants! Maybe a new, WR/WP backpack to treat myself too |

Aren't you guys over thinking this a little?
Just get a decent water resistant jacket and boots. Spoon is a nurse right (or I'm mixing you up with someone else)? You'll change at work anyways so I don't think it matters too much? By the time your 10 hour shift is over whatever you wore to work would have dried already.

Having rain soaked gear dry off at work isn't exactly pleasant lol. When the weather is reasonable, I'll wear my scrubs to work. Problem right now is, when it's windy+rainy those scrubs (which are super thin) get absolutely drenched and I have to change again when I get to work. My backpack also gets wet despite the umbrella.

You'll probably need a golf umbrella or something, or a cover for your backpack. I used to ride my bike in the rain to the office with a purpose-built rain jacket for cycling and a back pack with a water resistant (not water proof!) cover. Also had water resistant pants and shoe covers. Did I get a little bit yet? Yes, but I was never drenched. I don't think you need to go this far because my commute was about 45 minutes door-to-door.

I do have a golf sized umbrella and it still doesn't stop my backpack from getting wet lol. Also, I prefer to bring my lighter, clear umbrella from Lawson's.

Do they talk on speakerphone to their cousin at max volume for the entire trip to at least make it feel authentic?

It's not the contents that are getting wet, I just don't like having an outer shell that gets wet so easily. I often keep some paperwork in my backpack. Also, for vacation purposes a WR/WP backpack would be nice.

I also took Waymo yesterday during my layover at SFO to visit a friend, it reminds me of fsd v11. The acceleration and braking felt very robotic. Regardless, Waymo is not designed to scale. One could argue that hardware cost would eventually be driven down, but the constant need of HD mapping and the continuous update of it made scaling with it impossible.
If anything, there’s nothing Tesla fsd can’t do that only Waymo could. Either now or the future. I drive with fsd on a daily basis and it’s a matter of time it’s safer than human and not if.
I agree that autonomous is the future. But it’s definitely not the way Waymo is heading.

What was wrong with the regular way, where you held the phone to your face and talked at a normal volume??
