I feel like the country club atmosphere has permeated through to the locker room again. It's really frustrating. You've got guys leaving right and left for personal reasons and babies and dogs on top of all the injuries... I mean I'm not heartless but at the same time you're making a shit tonne of money to play a game and it only occupies 2/3rds of a year for you we're not in a position for prominent players to be taking mid-season sojourns.
I'm with spoon.ek9, it's getting really hard to watch. I know I already harped on it above but when Sasson started gliding behind Nelson on the go ahead goal I was literally like "fuck this" and turned it off. | Boeser skipping games because of his dead dog was peak WTF for me.
Dog, you're paid millions of dollars, you're going to skip games because of ol' dead Spike?
Fuck outta here.

It's actually not that crazy - even the team finishing in 32nd place will only have a 25.5% chance to win the first pick. They are only guaranteed a top 3 pick
I can see the Canucks finishing last and then the team that finishes 22nd gets the first pick with a 3% chance (this is the highest a team can finish while having a chance to get that pick)
Then Calgary will get the 2nd pick, and the loser Canuckleheads will pick third. Just wait and see |

Canucks are great if you are another team/player on the verge of breaking a record!

You guys think top 3 is bad? lol.
I still take a top 10 pick over a 25-30
Remember Linden was 2nd pick. They made the SCF
H Sedin, and D Sedin were 2nd and 3rd picks. They made it to SCF.
The only problem I see with the Canucks is that their scouting more less sucks balls, and they always flip 1st rounders to get players that can win now.

having said the above, the Canucks have 2 games on Calgary & 1 pt behind, they could easily move up a notch or 2 to 30th place.

You know they are going to go on a hard run and get above .500 and try to reach into the playoffs and get knocked out. Only to draft 30th. lol.
Either that OR they are able to pick top 10 but only to flip that top 10 for a player in their (mid 20s) so they can be competitive now.

What you're saying is true but at least we haven't traded our recent draft picks. Lekkerimaki, Willander, D Petey, Cootes, etc and Mancini (came via trade). These players will be key part of the future and management could have easily jettisoned them in a trade for a 2C this past summer. We need to get younger and faster while maintaining some effective veterans to bolster a young group until they're ready.
The past 13 years has been the opposite: Acquiring ~25 year olds to bolster vets in a shitty attempt to skip the process of developing picks. All that has earned us is one playoff series in 2015 (lost to Calgary), bubble playoffs (we weren't getting in if it wasn't for percentage draw-in), and one series win with Tocchet.

for sure. you are right. Maybe Aqua man haven't been meddling?
But like a kid in a candy store can he force himself to not touch the candy?
I dunno...
There was an article Flyers rejected a trade for Owen Tippet for Sherwood. Although we didn't know what the Canucks offered.... Sherwood and EP25?
Unless the team knows they are winning the cup, no way Sherwood gets a top 1 rounder... Canucks can dream though.

A tale as old as time, we're going to go on a meaningless win streak in Jan/Feb and miss the playoffs, and not be last place.
