I just don’t like the fact we had massive locker room drama last year and then we go and bring in a guy with a massive history of locker room drama even IF he was behaving in Edmonton… it feels like going in the wrong direction as usual. Nevermind he didn’t play last season so he didn’t exactly have to try and behave.
Agreed! Hughes won't be able to keep Kane in line if he starts being a prima donna...

That is true. However it takes two ppl to tango. EP40 is also part of the problem. Unless he gets traded the potential problem could still exist regardless who's coming.
Awesome video but the jersey hasn't changed much since then really
haha yea I always feel the same about some of the OG teams like Boston, Detroit, Montreal etc. It's like we have a new jersey and my reaction is what changed the stripe on the arm?

Allvin and his team did their “due diligence” on Kane by talking to Evander’s former team mates and coaching staff.
Kane is no doubt highly motivated to play well for a big contract. -likely his last contract given his age of 33.
Finally healthy after missing half of Edmonton’s games over the last three years, Kane is playing for another contract, likely his final one in the NHL. He is four years removed from filing for bankruptcy in California, registering debts of $26.8 million.
Canucks fans are idiots sometimes and the stupid online hive mind against Kane is annoying.
We know that we're losing a forward, Boeser, regardless.
It's a win win trade, we paid fuck all for the guy. He's big, fairly cheap at $5mil, he brings grit (which we need), he's on a 1 year contract so he's going to play hard, if he doesn't fit we can trade him for something at next deadline.
The negatives are totally dependent on whether he becomes a bad influence / idiot surrounded by all his East Van homie… I’m sure you’ve read the stories of his bankruptcy and how his hoodrat friends ride his coattails and get him in shit

I can't see any negatives here.
Canucks are getting a more mature Kane now as a player. -
Article mentions Allvin and his staff talked extensively with former team mates and coaches of Kane. They know much more about this player in terms of his conduct on and off the ice compared to any Canucks fan.
They did their "due diligence".
Oilers fans posted comments about how much community work that Kane did for Edmonton. He donated 25 grand to Indigenous students in 2022.
Then he bought Christmas gifts for kids in 2024.
Kane collaborated with Kids Up Front - Edmonton to provide 120 local youth with a holiday shopping experience, including Oilers merchandise and gift cards, says Kids Up Front - Edmonton.
Three year collaboration with that organization to help kids.
Perhaps Kane is more mature now because he has a fiance and three kids. Having a family can make a man grow up fast.
No news reports about Kane having any tension or big spats with his former teammates in Edmonton.
I won't judge Kane until I see him play a game as a Canuck. I think that many fans will be pleasantly surprised about how good a player he can be when he is very motivated to play for a new contract. His next contract will likely be his last one given that he is 33 years old.

For Kane, I do truly believe people attack the guy more because of his background. If his teammates said he wasn't a problem, I would take their word for it and welcome the hometown kid to the team.
Why don't people say the same about Corey Perry? He was perceived toxic asset who was cut from the Hawks, yet he's had a complete resurgence to his career and he's not talked down upon by fans whatsoever during his time in Edmonton.
I'm always a fan of giving someone a chance, wait and see. We're so quick to dogpile on people because of past transgressions, and don't recognize growth.
People in EDM were livid when Perry first went there cuz of the drama and how fuckin slow he is at this point... he proved his worth though so it dropped off now they love him. Except for his Stanley Cup losing streak, which is quite frankly impressive at this point.
84 ... damn, I was hoping it go the other way ... like 78 or 80 games.
No one cares about pre-season... guess that's why it's going down to 4. So the first 4 reg season games will be like pre-season level. We all know season ticket holders give away pre-season games and regular season brings in more $$ for owners.
I'd prefer a shorter regular season, less of a slog, less injuries. It would be better to see playoff teams with more of a full roster. We can truly see what team is the best equipped, as opposed to a crapshoot of whatever team has been able to weather the regular season with the least amount of injuries.
