The Canucks upped their asking price for Sherwood... Now they want a 1st and a good prospect. lol
I'd give the middle finger to JR and PA.... Why don't I give you a "future consideration for Sherwood" and take him off your hands and save your cap hit of $1.5M. lol.

Any team with high playoff hopes will consider Sherwood seriously. I think their strategy right now is to just start a bidding war and see what sticks. Smart and stupid at the same time to show your hand so soon.
From my point of view, I think playing hardball with Sherwood is a good thing. Even if we don't end up trading him, signing him is still a possibility and a good idea (sign and trade later probably possible too). If we sell off other assets, a guy who works as hard as him should be kept around lest our culture go further down the drain.

JR and PA already stated they wanted to get younger. At this point you trade for draft picks. Signing Sherwood would not be good idea. Last thing you want is to give another boat anchor and another useless contract towards a cap. We have enough bottom guys. I rather just let the younger kids develop in the bottom six, even if they suck.

Demko is back in the lineup on Thurs ... what is the over and under on number of games before he is back on IR? 5? 6?

Honestly I’d be surprised he makes it through 3 at this point
I can’t remember the last time I felt so hopeless about this team… genuinely thought we improved over last year and would at least make the playoffs, but here we are

let him play some games. Then try to trade him next year. Canucks might have to eat some salary but better than buying him out.

Unfortunately, in their (Canucks) infinite wisdom:
Lankinen = 2 years NMC 3 year M-NTC
Demko = 3 years NMC
They ain't going anywhere.

Demko no trade protection doesn't kick in until the 2026-27 season. He can still be traded this season. Same with Garland.
Let's say Canucks retain 50% of the salary, and we get a 1st rounder for Demko... lol.

People actually have had very positive observations of Medvedev so far. He just isn't ready for NHL stage yet.

Rumours that Red Wings might have assets to trade for Hughes .. but would he go there?
Up and rising youngerish team in a 'shithole' city.

Up and rising youngerish team in a 'shithole' city. | Hughes does not have a no trade clause in his contact now. The captain has no trade protection.
Allvin and JR would move Hughes to the team that gives the best trade offer for the Canucks even if the team is not New Jersey.
-reading from sports articles that Allvin and JR are looking for a centre, a prospect forward, and two unprotected first round picks in a trade of Hughes.

Man that's gotta suck... you're a Norris Trophy winner, you've been carrying the team for a few years, and yet there are numerous players on your team that are paid more and/or have trade protection. You have no say on what management decides to do with your future.

Pretty much. PA have signed some pretty shitty contracts.
Plus if Hughes does join his brothers in NJ... Think about the marketing revenue that could be generated...

Coilers make a blockbuster trade for a new goalie.
Bye bye Skinner!
Is this an upgrade in a goalie for Edmonton though? Hmmm.

Jarry sucks too, he just sucks lightly less than Skinner? He's never lasted as the Penguins starting goalie, always doing tandem work. Gets eclipsed by other goalies easily.
I guess it's all they had available to them though. Losing Kulak hurts, one of their better defensive d-men... tho they also grabbed Stastney from Nashville who looks decent.

Rumours that they wanted Jarry to tandem with Skinner ... rid Pickard but now a trade.
Oilers should have traded for Silov from Pittsburgh ... or from Canucks when he was still here (Silov for McDavid).

Silovs cooled down considerably since his hot start, only 4 and 4 in 13 games with a 3 average.
Murashov is their goalie next year I think. Skinner is gonna get traded or walk with free agency.
