Im not buying another VW product….. or a Toyota product….. hell I’m pretty much done with new cars. If my next car uses 0w8 I’ll burn it to the motherfucking ground like a bitch ass beetle.

If it doesn't, the Volvo C30 T5 is pretty similar except no AWD.

The GM 6.2 L87 V8s come to mind. The bandaid fix is to run a thicker oil lol.... Surprise surprise, 0w-08 baby oil is a terrible lubricant

So um. There's something called the passage of time: today's new cars are tomorrow's old cars. What would you do then?
Literally there's no other option but to guangdong-hoard a warehouse full of assorted 2010-2020 Toyota products, to last you the rest of your lifetime.
Or... you could just succumb to the sweet embrace a shiny new EV beetle. It's opening its legs for you: take it!!! Take ittt!!

Yes. Basically like a 911 meat. Insufferable douche bags surrounding a butt ugly car. Just in this case it sounds really good thanks to Yamaha. But bleh.. that LFA design is god awful.

With the air quality being overall shit today, I realize I miss the ram air vents on old Toyotas and Hondas. It's cool enough outside that you really don't need to turn on AC, but BMWs don't get that ram air and I still have to turn on AC if I close the windows.

I usually turn off the A/C but keep the fan running in those scenarios - is that not almost the same thing?

Cold start, yes. If the car has heatsoaked either because you parked in a warm parking lot or just the turbo is hot, then no. I don't know where the cabin intake is but it seems to be routing through the engine bay and it will just blow warm air.
Took my sister's BMW to activate CarPlay in the head unit at a 3rd party vendor - for some reason none of the HK BMWs in come with it from the factory and is not upgradable by the dealer or through the app.
No CarPlay would've been fine if the built-in maps was decent, but the built-in Tencent Maps in these BMWs can't do the simplest task of getting directions from a full address. Instead, it can only search for POIs that Tencent has poorly indexed, making it practically useless if I'm trying to go anywhere that's not a mall.
I don't get why BMW can't get CarPlay onto its cars after all these years when 99% of the Chinese cars here have them - it's a very bizarre omission.
How I understand it is that BMW structured CarPlay so that it's attached to ConnectedDrive server instead of being in the head unit like most cars, with the idea that owners can buy or pay a subscription for it (and other features like heated seats) through the app store. In Hong Kong's case, its server doesn't offer the app store component, so there's no workflow for owners to activate CarPlay the proper way. As to why the BMW HK won't activate it by default, every salesperson gives a different answer.
Originally I thought the CarPlay restriction was a regional / Chinese gov thing in the past, but all the BYDs / Zeekrs / Jaecoos sold here come with CarPlay as standard equipment.
I particularly like the Jaecoo 6 - it's got a giant screen for 3-row Apple CarPlay glory:
My absolute favorite feature of the car though is its 2000s knock-off MP3 player English translation - sometimes its Beijing accent even shines through:
Otherwise it's a pretty cool car - it's practically an all-electric Jimny with 280hp. Reliability / longevity TBD though.
