I suppose if it's a lease, it may not matter as much since you're dropping it off at the dealership at the end of the term.
If we look at the luxury vehicle spectrum, you get bore scoring from Porsches, and this is a result of cold weather and/or a combination of driving short distances. The real sucker who suffers is the person who buys this car and realizes their engine is hooped.

Theres that area on the westbound 401 between the 427 and the 410, where you question your sanity, gazing into the weaving traffic, not a single signal light to be found.
People are going 10 under in the left lane and 50 over on the right shoulder. You're surrounded by dirty Nissan Altimas, with bad tint, blacked out tail lights, and spray painted rims. A beaten up mazda 3, now more rust than paint after 2 winters, just cut you off. You are now 2 km from the 410 north ramp. All the rusty dirty shitty cars are slamming their breaks and cutting to the right lane, still no signal lights.
You see a white crown Vic, thinking it's a cop, a savior. Only as you approach and the smell of burnt oil hits you, your hopes are dashed as realize it was a police auction surplus vehicle. They have their left signal on, but they're crossing into the right lane.
You see the off ramp sign. 410 north Brampton. You are approaching Brampton. It's almost over. Please let it be over. You must get past this off ramp. People in the left lane are now slamming on brakes, realizing they have 4 lanes of traffic to cross. You see all the Altimas, rusted Mazda 3's, 5's and a brown protege that used to be yellow, and police surplus vehicles miss the ramp by 4 meters, and immediately cut across the shoulder back on to the ramp. You are still in the left lane. The road ahead of you is finally serene, clear. No more smells, no more rust, no shitty spraypainted rims. You're finally safe. | Toronto drivers are the worst. LA level of aggressiveness, but with none of the skill ><.

I think the tolerances on Toyota/Lexus products are pretty good. There's a lot of forgiveness. Unlike Porsche. If you drove a Porsche with that kind of mileage, you'd be so screwed. This is where Toyota shines, despite how much we shit on them.

My 996 had ~200k and pulled strong. There's all sorts of old ass Porsches bombing around the island here, you can see them every (dry) weekend up in Qualicum.
People get so caught up in narratives.

996 notwithstanding
I'm referring to more modern Porsches with bore scoring and all. The big difference for you folks on the island is you folks DRIVE your cars like they were meant to, and that makes a big difference.
The 986 and 996 have been very reliable for me (unlike my BMW ownership experience.)
Final DE weekend of the year in two weeks. Can't wait to hit the rev counter many times overs!

yeah the old ones are fine. modern day porsches are stupid and the service cost is even more stupid.
700+ dollars for an oil change at the dealership? fuck you.
not being able to pick and choose maintenance but instead forced to buy packages? fuck you.
cant apply your own touch up paint, but instead forced to pay them 1000+ dollars to do a dab of touch up paint? fuck you.

If any of you local RS ballers needs to get your fancy beetle serviced -- SUVs and Taycans included -- I know a guy (who used to be a Porsche dealership tech for 20+ years) that has gone the indie route. He is supposed to be very good, and seems to really know his way around these fancy beetles.

I've been noticing that the new Nissan Z (Well it's still based on the 370Z platform that debuted in 2009) is starting to be a performance bargain slightly used. Dropping to the $45-48K for the perfomance manual one with a 400HP twin turbo V6. I remember when the 350Z came out in 2003 it was like $50K back then no?

Thats why we were importing 350Z from america like crazy when the dollar was at par.

I remember I really really wanted one and around 40k was bmw money at the time so I thought it was insanely expensive for a guy in college.

The 370Z dropped down to $29,990 for the final few years for the base. I still don't think it sold particularly well at that price despite being so close to the febreeze twins.

Yeah you're right. Maybe I was thinking about the G35 Coupe (GOAT design)
I just remember all the hot JDM cars in the 2000's were in the 45-55K range.
Either way it makes the new Z even cheaper if you factor in inflation.

Either way it makes the new Z even cheaper if you factor in inflation. | I dislike the styling of the new Z. I don't feel like the front end and the back end coordinate well. Feels like they took two cars and glued them together.
The 370Z styling imo has aged quite well, better than the 350Z. If they would have just put the 3.0T into the 370Z with some updates they could have saved even more money than retooling the build but still keeping the same chassis. Quote:

It makes a lot of noise but they don't go particularly fast. Maybe a stick would be better.
