Removed old tranny. Inspected Flywheel and clutch and pressure plate. Everythnig is still mint!:D Clutch looks brand new. And that's gone through 2 NA engines, and 2 boosted engines. I lvoe Clutchmasters. Only a wimpy Stage 1 as well :D

Also tried to remove the crank pulley bolt with impact, no go, then by myself with assitance from moroso crank pulley holder, Didn't let go at all... although I think my back did... Need a stronger Impact...

proshoraca
02-16-2006, 03:47 PM
man those honda crank pulley bolts are insanely tight, absolutely crazy. we just borrow a 3/4" impact and that pulls them off like nothing. sounds like your buildup is coming along quite well good to hear, i have no idea what it is but can only imagine will be pretty rediculous, right on!

mod of weekend put on tail-pipe, holy crap being able to hear yourself think when driving is good again. need to do coil and wires, then set timing to maximum able, then hit elite for some a:f runs, and am done.

built a proper short ram intake, and got rid of that fugly stock airbox/tube. Swapped in a new fuel filter, it was well overdue too, as when i was draining the old one out, the fuel/dirt was so brown and chunky i'm surprised any fuel got through that thing at all. And last but not least painted all 3 wiper arms as the OEM paint had faded and flaked away to a silver ghetto look.

fourtirefire
03-02-2006, 10:13 PM
on the back side of the lamp assembly, there is an 8mm bolt in the middle of the two bulbs, turn that one for up/down movement. and there is another bolt close to the fender for right/left adjustment. Using the level, you want the bubble towards the front of the car for them to aim up, or the opposite for downwards.

try and find some brass aftermarket shifter bushings.. they are usually easily found on ebay.. i put them in my DSM and it stiffened up shifting quite a bit!

And I like the all-red tails....but clears are so freaking rare...I'm pretty much the only S-truck around with them these days.

proshoraca: hahaha thankfully the truck is so light that if I get a flat I can just lift it enough to put a jack underneath (not kidding). It's too low to go on a jack, and I have to lift it by hand anyways....so I'm not too worried (famous last words lol).

Yesterday my car completely died on me in traffic. A little furious i had a suspicion as to what it was. The coil in the distributor died on my AGAIN. Being the second time in one year I ordered and installed an MSD SCI Blaster SS ignition kit. After it having failed the second time, there is no way i'd want to be in Vancouver and have this happen. No more internal coil bullshit. Hopefully the MSD unit proves to be reliable.

Today I also installed a non burnt out H4H bulb into my one piece headlights. Thanks Tom ! :p

Took front seats/dash/door panels out of my wrecked Van, put them in my good one.

Bought some Lino, cut to size, installed into cargo area of good van (still have to move one seat over from the other van, and bolt down the seat that's in there now).

Removed steering collumn cover/Ignition asembly from both vans, installed the good ignition into good van.

Popped a battery in good van, started it up :D. Took it for a quick scoot down my alley.

Just gotta clean things up a bit, do a little trouble shooting and she should be good to go.

Degreased my engine the other night....and then after about 8-10 kms, it began the old water in the distributor and spark plug holes sputter. Once it started sounding like anthonys car, i pulled over and parked it for a bit. When i came back, It was running well enough to get to my shop so I could drop off the new tranny. Once there and idleing, as I'm reaching in the window to turn it off I hear POW and look up to see a thick cloud rising from under my hood. Upper rad hose blew, nice 4 inch split. Had her runnin with the new hose in 45 minutes.

Started the Race car(rx7 with 302) today and took her for a quick spin up and down the road. The new 8 inch convertor stalls at 4,800 rpm, instead of 2,600 rpm. Put some new clutches in the tranny since they were slipping alot on the transbrake last year. That in combination with a 28x10.5 slicks and 4.88's instead of the 5.67's. I am still trying to get the wieght down, although last year the car wieghted 1910 lbs without driver, this year i would like to get it down to 1950 with driver. Should make for a wheelie popping low 11, high 10 second car.

Fun place for a oil filter! That a unorthadox underdrive pully? Looks very simular in design.

My mod: Alternator belt went on my road trip to Omak USA... Good thing I had a tool kit and a new belt in the trunk :D Nothing beats roadside repairs in the pouring rain, on the side of the highway with a dead battery... AND... the alt bracket fell off and I had to use zip ties to hold the alternator till I hit the next town.

Taking a board members suggestion seriously, I ended up doing quite the challenge today.

Removal of the engine, k-frame, skid plate, transfercase, rear driveshaft... Only thing left it so seperate the tranny from the block.

What a day... never again will I drop a engine out the bottom.

edit: Got the tranny seperated. Looks like a gear in the transmission broke loose and broke right through the casing, doing a bit of damage to the clutch coating everything in synthetic oil.

swapped cams in two cars... got the first one running first try, mine not so good, felt like it was off a tooth on the crank gear, pulled it apart, lined everything up perfectly again... no dice, ran exactly the same as the first time.. and now here i am.. time for some sleep.....

one thing I thought of... Check your valve adjustment, if you have a valve or set of valves that are'nt closing all the way it will run the way it is!

fourtirefire
04-19-2006, 08:37 AM
re-set cam-to crank timing.. that's perfect now, did a compression test.. 170 across the board, checked my valves, all are about the same lash... checked my distributor.. looks fine... reset ECU....

and it still runs like a piece of shit...

thanks to the advice of slo40 shawn to set my valve lash according to the cam card.. DOH!
