during E3 '07, Gamespot, Gamepro and IGN praised Metroid Corruption and they expecting it that once this game is released, it will be another foundation of what FPS games should b like on consoles.. much like what Goldeneye and Halo did..

they praised it for ultimate, almost flawless controls that what Red Steel got it wrong, they got it right with Metroid..

although i doubt it will still beat the mouse and keyboard controls...

it shouldn't damage your wii or any system if the guy who mods it does a good job.


The only cavaet I learned with my modded PS2 is to always make sure your backup games are on a high quality DVD. Bad quality DVDs makes it harder for the laser to read the disc and adds more wear and tear on the machine.

the only problem with the wii update is it'll not boot ur setup disc or homebrews unless you run it in gcos mode

SD card can be used for mp3s in ExciteTruck too, and possibly game saves? I'm not 100% sure about the second, but I'm sure more games are going to make use of it since the Wii has limited space too.

You can store the games on an SD card, and move it back to the Wii when you want to play. Games will only work on the Wii they were purchased.

so i just finished downloading MEtro Prime 3


Now in the main menu i can see the metroy prime game running, when i click in, the music starts playing...the sound track is playing...but than after it says loading and a few seconds...it says disc cannot be read!!!


I load up my THE BIGS baseball game from previous and it runs fine

Now I havent turned on my wii for awhile and when i click into the game it forced me to update, so i did than my metroy prime couldnt load..

wat gives???

Don't BrickBlock it. The update isn't a firmware update.
You need the update to run because it installs files Metroid needs to run.

Just make sure the game is the same region as your Wii.

So for those playing Super Mario Galaxy already, wut ur take on it?

Definitely a great game...IMO, graphic wise, Nintendo took the path of giving it a cheap beautiful look by adding special shading and glare on character and background models, as well as extra bitmapping on the level design which works really well...

makes the game look really beautiful...it just shows how developers can work the Wii with the lack of graphic power by focusing more on visual design, rather than polygon models...


also control works great, its not that much different than playing Mario games before, other than shaking the wiimote for attacking...also reminds me of Twighlight Princess in terms of controls..

Also level scheme takes a formula off Mario 64, u have to repeat the level in order to collect stars, but the difference is, everytime u visit the level, a new path takes to get to a certain Star, so its less repepetive...

one little complain is when going to a Planet level, it gets confusing because camera doesnt fully pan out and u can end up upside down on a planet, which also changes the direction on analog stick..

played this game for 5 straight hours today.... really loving it..

this game is definitely runner up to be Game of the year along side Bioshock.. but like always, i shouldnt be surprise with the lack of hype or advertisement coming from Nintendo..

Famitsu has given this 38/40 <== note at Famitsu for being a hard reviewer when it comes to games... Mario 64 was given a 39/40
1up has given it a 9.5 /10
Gamepro has given it a perfect 5.00/5.00

cant wait to see what IGN and Gamespot's take on this... IGN has already said they love the game but taking more time to refine their review and give it a possible of perfect 10 or 9.8

The english version was already out online on torrents since last week

its the same version where some guy from Gamestop jacked a "demo" copy of Galaxy, took it home and took off the 10 minute limit gameplay on the demo.. turns out the entire game is on the disc and fully functional...


There is some pretty good intinuitive controls in Galaxy itself where all you use is the wiimote to move Mario around without the analog stick, like on one of the racing levels and objectives..

this game is almost perfect if it werent for some minor flaws, but even the flaws like the camera problems i think are deliberate..

i have to agree, this game is pretty intense, Nintendo hasnt forgotten their hardcore gamers, and i gotta say Galaxy tends to be a little bit challenging sometimes when grabbing for certain stars..

im currently on my 60th star, so far, every galaxy and world i have entered, ive collected them all, and im pretty sure im missing quite a few secret stars


im determined to get all 120 stars,

just like Mario 64, when u complete all stars, u get to control a special character (no spoiler alert here)

The newer Wiis have more soldering required i think

i dont know much about it but when i took my Wii to get modded, the dude asked me when i bought my Wii and i said dec '06

i asked him why it matters because he said the Wii's that produced from nov '06 up to feb '07 are easier to mod with only 6 soldering points

the newer Wii's beyond that has like 20 to 60 soldering points or something...... which most stores charge $20 more..

but ya, i think any version of Wii out in the stores right now is moddable..

I just finished Mario Galaxy with 93 Stars.....

damn some of the stars are really hard to get, plus there is some secret stars hidden through out the different levels without any hint of where they are.....

Im refusing to look at gamefaqs to find where they are, exploring the levels are actually pretty fun


The last level just before you meet Bowser (no spoiler here, u always fight Bowser on every Mario game) is rediculously hard....

the game gives you an option to progress even after finishing the game.... and once u start the game, it will ask u to collect a total of 120 stars to unlock a new world.......


props to Nintendo for not forgetting their hardcore gamers..

Mario Galaxy is too good... this overshadows Mario64 as one of the greatest platformer..

camera angle is kind pising me off, a lot of times u are playing UPSIDE down so its like wtf??? gets me dizzy and shit, i mean why the fuck cant they just play the proper view? instead u have to play sideways, and upside down....to me tats just fucked. :rolleyes:

otherwise graphics and the rest of the game is pretty decent no complaints.

Except story is a bit weak compare to the gamecube Mario..i prefer the story on GC better, and the boss fight...they dont have a lot varieties....u just fight bowser like 3-4 times which is kinda repetitive...in previous mario games..u only fight bowser in the very last level.


got 47 stars so far, 14 more stars to go and game is finished.
the game definitely needs a component cable with 480p to appreciate one of the most pretty wii game

Mario Galaxy and Zelda were only the 2 games that i played as a gamer, the rest of the games are either a quick play on mini games or just when having buds over

the 2 games i highly recommend if u guys are into rail shooters (like Time Crisis) is Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Ghost Squad (which is a successor to Virtua Cop)..

been playing Ghost Squad since last week, really fun game..

i tried Zak and Wiki and its a really clever point and click game but the text based dialogues really really gets annoying, it keeps popping up and interrupting your game..

im just waiting for a really good game or an RPG game to come out for the Wii

if ur hardcore enough u can finish the standard 60 star requirement to finish Galaxy within a week or 3 days..

if u wanna take the entire 120 stars, it will definitely take you longer.. im on my 107th so far, and i still need to unlock a few secrets, wait til the part where you have to catch 3 bunnies in a planet with a certain time limit, that can be a bitch just grabbing a star...

or collecting coins to get a star while a platform is moving, if u miss one coin, u gotta re start the level again

but the challenge is really fun..

as far as i know, all Wii consoles are still moddable

if you can do the soldering install the wiikey yourself, do it on a wii that u bought before March of this year

otherwise, if bought after that, get someone you know or a place to do it for you because its harder for the newer consoles to get the chip installed..

i was playing MoH Vanguard and the controls were glitchy as fuck...

you jump by flicking the nunchuck up

u crouch by flicking the nunchuck down

you reload by flicking the nunchuck to the right

and you turn 180 degrees when u flick the nunchuck the left...

which is not a good formula at all.. the nunchuck was hardly detecting the right moves. majority of the time i was trying to reload, i was crouching:2finger:

Controls are pretty easy and creative.

In MoH:H2 .. you can't jump :(

Crouch = Control Pad - Down
Reload = Control Pad - Up or flick Wiimote up or down

What bothers me the most is that the aiming/viewing vertical and horizonal was a bit too sensitive for me. But you can lower it in the option menu :) and the 180 degree turn you mentioned is still the same almost (need to hold C as well while flicking the nunchuk to the left)

I love how the rocket launcher works. You have to put the wiimote on your shoulder (pointing it behind you) and B to fire :p

Hey so I got the wii key and I updated my firmware, but when I tried playing mario galaxy this message saying I need to do some system updates keeps popping up and it concerns me because I don't wanna turn my wii into a brick. And there's no way to avoid the update.

I just bought Rayman: Raving Rabbids 2. I really enjoyed the first one. This one is really fun, and the rabbids are a riot, but it's not nearly as ludicrous as the first one. It is a great multiplayer game, though. I especially like how the music part of the game is simultaneous play now, with each player playing a different instrument.

The first one is a definitive must have. The 2nd one would be one to get if you enjoyed the first one, and/or if you have people over a lot.

The 2nd one is still really fun. One of my favorite events is talking on the cell during a movie. You hold the remote to your ear where you'll hear a rabbid jabbering, and when the house lights come on, you gotta put down the phone and try to send get a text sent to an opponent.

Get Mario & Sonic Olympics I have a copy of this game and it rocks. Great Multiplayer action, make you look embarrassing with the moves you perform but thats what the Wii does. It gets a party going...and this is a great game to acknowledge that fact.

but swinging your wiimote isnt necessary, u can just press the button, although both is an option, u just have better timing with button pressing than swinging it....

plus there is co op play.. fun to play with....

Yea, I am wondering about getting my Wii modded too. I bought mine in November so I will be requiring the D2Ckey. I have postponed getting the mod in precaution of any updates or something that might brick it. What are your guys' thoughts or do you know anything about it? I heard that you can't access any of the wireless or channels when you mod it... not that online for Wii matters much.

i dont know much about the other mod chips but the Wiikey is fool proof safe to hook it back online..

im accessing the weather, news channel with no problem

the only thing that i know will cause it go brick is that if you put a jap or PAL game on ur wii console and it asked for an update, this can cause to brick due to a foreign firmware being downloaded on ur NA console...

so thats why im always cautious to downloading jap or pal titles that just came out...

plus u can always google forums for wii chips to see if other people has complain about firmware updates bricking the console..... after all, you can always download the update later, its an auto update feature...


you download games that is in .iso file.. and then you burn them as an IMG....... using imgburn is perfect for this....

as for homebrews is concern, Wii is officially hack, its only a matter of time for alot of possibilities to come out of the homebrew scene..

i have a wiikey, and so far i hav no problems with it whatsoever, their website does provide firmware updates when necessary, the latest game i have downloaded is Nights (which is a shit game btw) which runs some kind of glitch and causes my wii to freezes during cut scenes... but its minor....

but the only obstacle the wiikey has ever ran problems with one game that isnt or wasnt compatible was Mario Galaxy but they fix that problem back in nov.......

also, i hav the region overrided so i can play pal and jap games, while some of my friends couldnt figure out how to override the region lock on their own consoles with the wiikey......... even i cant figure out theirs....

Mario Strikers scared me the first time i put on my wii and ask for an update from Nintendo....

it took me a good 2 days and research on the wii mod chip forums to see if everyone else's game and console was fine after the update

wait until ur friend gets back and find out what modchip you have

then google the site of your chip to find the official website for it and see if they provide firmware installations and such...

dont do anything to "brick" your console considering how its still hard to find one nowadays.... so just wait it out

as far as i know, one potential to brick your console is if you put a japanese game on ur NA console and asked for an update, the foreign update coming from japan will cause incompatibilit on your console causing it to go brick.. thats one thing i know so far..

well i actually didnt do the overriding, the guy that did the mod chip installation overrided the region coding.....

the games are safe to be updated when u are prompted to, as long as the game u have is the same region as ur wii..

potential brick are:

if u update a jap or a pal wii game on an ntsc console, and vice versa....

at this moment, people who own jap wii consoles with wiikey said that even a real copy of SSBB doesnt work on theirs either


well i find some more info

SSBB disc is dual layer, so the total file is 8 gigs..

there is no real ntsc version dumped, its labeled as "ntsc with japanese language" so this is still the jp release

however, majority of the torrents uploaded are on a normal game capacity averaging at 4.11 gigs to 4.21 gigs

this are the ripped back ups where the movies and some cut scenes were taken out......and the adventure mode doesnt work, however, the full VS battle (single and 2 player and 4 players) work flawlessly with all characters

and this game works on majority of wiikeys, so im dling it now and see if it will work on mine..

for those who has a Cyclowiz installed on ur wii, the game works flawlessly..

the problem with foreign games on north american consoles is that when a game asked for an update, it will download a japanese firmware on ur NA console......

this is harmful and can semi brick your console

if u burnt a copy and still have the iso file, use brick blocker program to fool the console with the japanese udate and also use regionfrii to change the region of ur iso file

you can play SSBB with just the wiimote, you hold it sideways like an old school 2d mario game, kinda like Paper Mario

but im used to moving around in the game with analog stick, plus i find it awkward to press the B button when blocking when holding the wiimote sideways..

many ppl who actually preferred to buy the game, only to find out that the Wiikey installed, it makes it incompatible to play the game

also some mod chips also are not working with real copies of SSBB

so they resorting to extracting and dumping their real copies and burning it on a dual layer disc for it to only work.... so thats why a warning to those with modded wiis, burnt copies are the only way to go at the moment..


also the dual layer SSBB version caps at 7.92 gigs, so look for the isos with that, dont download the 4.12 gig version, they are single layer dumps with the fmvs taken out, making some part of the game totally inaccessible..


but ya, a dumped version of the NTSC hasnt been released yet, the ones that says Super Smash Bros Brawl NTSC version 4.12 gigs are actually Super Mario Strikers isos..... so dont waste ur bandwidth...

i figure the gamecube controller is the same so i haven't tried it. so far i like the wiimote (with nothing else) the best. the classic controller is ok and for some reason I had lots of trouble with the nunchuck.

i would burn you a copy Mugen but im short on dual layer disc..... and its not wise to buy them yourself for $30 per pack just so u can get me to burn you one copy...... just get your gf's bro to download it.... within a matter of days, this iso dumped will be seed like crazy and it will take less than a day to dl it..

i read that most of the ppl who attempted to play the jap console with the update last month (like me) fails to load a legit copy of SSBB

while some who never updated their wiikey at all, until now, will work on SSBB when it ask for an update...

Just to let you know, I am able to wifi battle with my friend even though I have a japanese version of the game and he has the english one.

Oh and about the friend code issue, I think the brawl friend code is customize to each individual wii. My friend and I seem to be able to play fine through wifi.

PS. I have a backup copy of the japanese game.

i can suggest to you that Wiikey maybe the best right now, but in the long term, it might not be a smart idea

every mod chip has a team actually working on their firmware updates to provide safe and enable to play newer games..

the Wiikey team is MIA, and the last firmware update they released for their chip was Mario Galaxy, right now its just a "rumour" that they might release a support for SSBB...

they want me to send in the wii for cleaning but mine is modded, is it possible they could just send it back to be and not clean it because its modded? can i just buy a lens cleaner and try that even though they said do not attempt to clean the lens yourself.

hate to break it to you but SSBB retail does not work with only the WiiKey modded systems

you have only 3 options, wait for the WiiKey team to release a firmware upgrade, download the iso and burn it on a dual layer dvd, or corrupt your wiikey firmware using the current firmware revision

1. wait for wiikey to upload an update then just update my system and it'll be good to go for brawl?

2. burn my own copy (don't have dual layer burner so its out of the question)

not that many characters are unlocked through SSE, probably only R.O.B, Sonic Jigglypuff, Mr. Game and Watch and Wolf. Its easier to unlock the rest through brawl-ing.

SSE took me 8-9hrs to beat. ahaha
