look here for some quick reviews of games, inital reactions you guys might have, or just wanna talk about it.


-me personally i haven't bought a game yet.. thought i'd try out the Wii Sports just to get the hang of things and i've find it very fun! boxing is so cool.. albeit a little hard to control sometimes, but it reminds me of punchout for NES.. ahhh little mac lol.

-i'll prolly grab a copy of twilight princess tmr or something.... i'm kinda on the fence about picking up Red Steal due to the fact that it got a 5.5/10 on gamespot. but what do you guys think about it? games that you guys have bought? and have they started to sell the wii classic style remote? or is it better to just grab a old GC controller?

i can't wait for the virtual console to expand even more to include Starfox 64. that game was intense!!

graphics for redsteel sucks so bad...I didn't even want to try it.
zelda is pretty cool. but overall.. feels like they made it for gamecube then added the new shit for wii.
wii Sports, good to play with group of friends. but golf part is kind of weak.

I'm in love with Zelda, awesome game. Using the Wii remote to aim is SO much easier than a thumbstick! If you're having trouble aiming your Wii remote, open up the calibration tool in options inside Zelda. Since I got it all calibrated up it's been PERFECT.

I also got GT Pro Series which I havent spent much time with, but for the short duration I did play it I had a lot of fun steering with the wheel.

Wii Sports is obviously just a demonstration tool for the motion sensing capabilities the Wii has. It's a LOT of fun to play with friends, but there's not much to the games. When developers start releasing fullsize games featuring each individual sport, I can see them being awesome.

EDIT: Yes, the Wii Classic remotes are available.

You mean the Wii classic? They're two totally different layouts, some may prefer the new one, some may prefer the old one. It doesn't matter which you choose.

In terms of Wii remotes though, you must have them for most games.

w00t! picked up a wii today from TRU (metro). funny, because they had signs plastered throughout the store saying they were sold out, but i saw one woman buying one, so I asked the clerk if that was a pre-sale, and he said that he had "several" in the back! :D went over to zellers to get raving rabbids (sold out at toys r us).

what other games should i get (not a fan of zelda, so don't recommend that)? having a blast with wii sports so far.

man just finished playing some DBZ.. overall it a good game for sure. i like the whole control scheme with the nunchuck/remote, however i feel that the game would be better played with the classic controller. dam i should rented it first aha.. wanna try out to many other games now.

I just got myself a Wii today and bought 3 games, Zelda, GT Pro Series, Red Steel.


Zelda no need to say anything its indeed the best launch game at the moment.

Red Steel I actually found it quite good, I picked up the controller function pretty fast and started whipping through the levels. The graphics are not too bad at all, basically most of the game graphics u see on the Wii would be a enhanced version of the original Xbox.

GT Pro Series dont look at the back of the game box, you might think this is the shittiest game ever made, but when you play it it is a whole new experience. the graphics are actually not too bad because the style of graphics is similar to what you see in Animatrix, all the cars are in japanese style cartoon. The racing wheel which came with it was pretty cool. There is still 1 copy of this game at Metro Zellers.

I am loving this machine, its so small and mobile. I used my Ds wifi connector and easily connected my Wii to the internet. Got everything updated easily with no break ups. The wifi has alot wider range then the DS.

My USB connector is in my room while the Wii is in my Living downstairs. At the same time if I turned on both my Ds lite and Wii my Wii will have a 3 bar strongest signal compared to my Ds with only 1 - 2 bars max.

I have alot tried out the photo album which comes with the Wii Channels. Man reminds you of a sticker photo machine. Very nice you can play your own mp3 music during a slide show or thematic mood songs that is defaulted in the system. Great tool I love this quick n easy way of viewing photos with family. The Video function works great as well as it was playing videos from the camera I recorded from.


All in All I rate this system a 9.5/10

My parents are even enjoying this machine.

redsteel- i enjoy it, like i said i didint put it down to play zelda until i beat it even then i replayed a few missions but i would advise you to rent redsteel

the swordplay is mediocre, has its bugs but still enjoyable for me

im not sure but so far all the games released are single player....

to be honest i have never been a cod fan even though i played the last 2 but cod3 i found it the same as the last 2 cept you got the wiimote


also anyone having problems with the connection for their wii/?

i got it to complete the test connection with my wireless gateway but when i update the patch it would go 3/4 then fail saying somethinabout my connection then i would sometimes get this 5 digit error

I have an Xskin on top is a white silicone case that wraps the ds lite perfectly without bubbles or flaring out on the sides . I purchase both items from a kiosk in metrotown near metropolist by the sushi place.

So far im loving it, bought the Rabbid game and zelda...didnt get the chance to play the rabbid game nor try the wii sport. Too busy playing zelda...i love the gameplay....simply crazy...except the graphics ..is like :( not impressed, nor as good as i thought it SHOULD be since it is the next gen console. TO be honest not a huge difference than gamecube, but the Wii still has potential and just in the progress of starting point...i hope they have a large potential tho...i'd be pissed if a year down the road and the console has reaches itz max. Finally found the Wii just arrived in one of the Rogers store in coquitlam (3). So i said fuck it and left an hr before i get off work, and gun the shit down to pick up the Wii...

Guess i will stay away from tat game.

U see, im a graphic guy yet i dont enjoy ps2 nor either will i enjoy ps3 tat much, becuz a lot of their games on ps2 takes hr to figure out. WIth my past gamecube i can just turn it on and bang im into the game , for example Resident evil 4

I know a lot of u are gonna tell me if im into graphics than Wii isnt the right console for me, i should go for 360/ps3. The thing is i love my Wii's gameplay in every sort of aspect, itz just tat why cant i have both? if Ninetdo would concentrate on the graphics as well as gameplay they would be no.1 on top of all 3 for sure..

YA the EB is doing pre-order on the component cable , going to be released on the 28th of this month. $49.99 but dont know wat brand, the guy from EB wasnt sure if itz OEM product or not.

And itz kind of weird how nintendo defends itz console for lack of HDMI cables because they said itz NOT NEEDED. I mean come on, we rather have more outlets than not enough. THe system still has a lot of potential, considering Wii is about 4-6 times faster than gamecube, while PS3 is 40 times faster and better than the previous PS2.

My point of view is this console is going to stay in the market at least for 5-7 years just like all consoles have been until they go out of date. So within this timeline im sure a lot of ppl will be throwing out their old tv and getting new HDTV. So meanwhile why would nintendo limite their machine with so less potential compare to the others? U do have to stay in the market to compete with 360/ps3 in some sort of way, not just relying on the gameplay. What are u going to do when u max out ur console? how much more can u develop? if 99% they care about is gameplay they might as well as slap on the gamecube with Wii's controller and see how far they can develope...not very far i tell u. And same thing with the Wii, the console is going to stay in the market for awhile...im sure 3-4 years down the road they will max out their console, while ps3 is probably half way there.


EDIT: NVM guess i wont be getting the Marvel alliance for the Wii, just read the review on gamespot. THey were sayin about clumsy control and blah blah..sigh...guess i will stick with my zelda and after tat not much great games left until next year

WHy does nintendo always have the same problem over and over again....LACK OF GAMES!! watever 360 have, ps3 has it. Why cant nintendo do the same? and than come out with some of their special games like mario, but still come out the same game other consoles are coming out. For example, why the hell doesnt Wii have WWE raw vs smackdown 2007? 360 has it, PS3 has it...so why the fuck Wii doesnt? And NO NBA!! Create a new Mii to have other Mii's to show up
I dont think the Mii Channel thing lets u connect to other Wii Consoles who is also int he Mii Channel.

The Mii is only to personlize your gameplay so that for example if your playing Wii Sports all your records and saves will be saved into that particular Mii

You are asking way too much. You want REALLY fun gameplay, new fancy motion sensing technology AND the best graphics. Nintendo probably could have done that and put out a system that costed $900, but then honestly how many would buy it?

If you cannot accept that the graphics will never be as good as an XBOX 360 or a PS3, a Wii is just NOT for you. It's designed to be cheap and fun. You aren't going to buy an Acura RSX and complain that it's not as good as a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Sure we cant compare RSX with a Lambo, but u gotta know tat today we are comparing apple to apple. I think Nintendo's point of sale is in their unique game play and never the graphics, and also Nintendo's target market is for the younger audience as well as the people who aren't familiar with video games who wants to get into video games that why there is a lack of buttons u will need to play a game.

I really dont know why you are comparing the 3 units when each unit has a different target market. You surely wont see a 360 person playing a Wii or a ps3 player playing the Wii.

360 is more the online gaming experience and the PS3 is for the ultimate gamer who has too much money to spend.

I'd go for the 360 over the ps3 any day because of price and online experience. ps3 is capable of doing better with the provided technology but their games are not necessarily any better then 360 game thus far ive been hearing reviews.

i only included the hd dvd player in there coz ps3 supports bluray and i guess the 360 suppose to support hd dvd :P and don't really compare the games for ps3 and 360 ~ if u want to compare games wait a year first then compare~ anyways back to this thread

Me choosing the 360 over the PS3 is my personal choice for many reasons.

1. HD DVD has a better video encoding format than Blu Ray which I think in the long run will win the nex generation movie disc.

2. Sony just had a pretty disappointing launch in North America.

3. I like the 360 controller over the ps3 because I never liked the PS controllers since the original playstation because after long hours of play my "big" hands start to strain, whereas i dont have this problem on the 360 controller.

4. I haven't seen the PS3's online system yet but I think that 360's online system is by far better anyday if u look at what happend to PS2's network ready launch, was it ever even a working idea?

I thought I was the only one who started to hate the PS controller after Ps1. At the time it was great, but I even preferred the dreamcast controller over it after that was released. Xbox Controller S was the bomb, and Wii's controller is now the one to beat (at least for ingenuity and fun factor). PS3's controller is old, outdated, too small and it doesnt even rumble. For god's sake get with the times.

The format war have just begun so technically you don't know which have the better video encoding... because all the blu-ray movie on the market right now is not blu-ray format. it's just normal dvd encoding dumped on to a blu-ray disc. i don't think you'll see actually blu-ray movies til early next year.

But once the "fade" is over, Nintendo is going to drop like a ton of bricks.

They have no games coming out, and the AAA ones they do ( SSMB, Metroid ) aren’t going to be out for a while. You will be stuck playing zelda for about a year, before you want to spend your $$ on another game.

The games that have been released at launch aren’t the greatest. Zelda is the only game WORTH buying IMO. Other games are renters for sure.

The Battle of the consoles is still early in the competition. It is really hard to say what will happen in the years to come. I really dont think the Wii will die out like the gamecube as some people mentioned.

Wii's direction is very much like how they engineered the Nintendo DS Lite, The DS lite is practically owning the PSP's ass now in the last year or so and is still growing.
I am not saying Wii is gonna own the 360 or the PS3's ass but Wii is not gonna die like how the gamecube had suffered in a couple of years time.

I do hope Sony will pick up their business now that they bring out the ps3, because their technology in music players and all those other technology they build are pretty sad. And perhaps bring in a new controller. Not reusing a design they have used for the last 3 generations of the playstation. I found that quite dissapointing.

As bias as my vote is like you guys are, Wii is still about enjoying the moment with friends and was never about graphics like u guys keep pounding on. You wouldn't see my whole family playing on the Playstation or the 360 anyday.

if tatz the case than i would highly recommand getting the Premium X-box 360 bundle, best bang for the buck at this stage.

PS3 is unstable and all their games have shitty ratings other than sport games. Wii is a secondary console. U havent had a console for so long, u will be disappointed at the Wii if itz going to be ur Primary console to play with. DOnt get me wrong, i enjoy every single games they have released so far (all the good ones of course with decent rating). BUt couple years down the road u look at ur buddy's 360/ps3 and u go home and play ur wii Eventually u will get tired of the graphics

Anybody know when will they released the COLOURED console/controllers? like the baby blue, shiny black, silver, red, green colours? im hesitating if i should wait until they released the colour controllers than i will get all four. So far i have 2, but i heard from a friend that they gonna be selling the faceplates for the remote??


Came back from EB and was told Wii...only has "512MB" !!! the additional memory card costs $100 for 2gb...super expensive in my opinion. after all if u want a big storage space like ps3/360 on the wii it will costs u this. $278 for console + $100 for 2gb memory card = $378 plus taxes.....not cheap at all

tsk tsk tsk.. i avoid using walkthru guides/gamefaqs as much as possible..

its just solving the puzzles feels more rewarding rather than breezing through them... especiall with games like Zelda

so i assume none of you guys hav encountered the "dead end save glitches" yet?

there are 2 save glitches in the game that will not let you progress through the game and would have to start all over

the first is after finishing the second dungeon, just as you passed the hyrule bridge, dont save until you reach the twilight

then click on new message i think and then click on address book, it should show your Wii number on the screen right away

just look it up on the manual..

the Mii code basically just creates a minor but yet big community on the Wiiconnect24..

its like creating a lil mini revscene msg board because you can post on the public board and stuff.....lol, i think you can add up to 100+ ppl? plus you can send emails using your Wii to a hotmail or yahoo account? ugh i need to open up the manual book again..

but since Nintendo doesnt have an open online gaming community, you can only play online games (well eventually when online games comes out for the Wii) with anyone on your friends list......

Ya u get that from the wolves. U gotta howl with the rhythm when u are in wolf form, find the howling stone. Than when u are in human form go back (it will show u on the map) to learn the new skill.

After you run finish the Goron Mines, head back into the Karikaro Village. Go up to the Goron next to the bomb shop, get launched up, go east to the house on the cliff to see another Goron saying that you can see everything up here, get launched up to top of the house. One of the kids are up there and he'll ask you if you can show him some archery skills. Picked up a 3rd party Component Cable for the Wii tonight at FS in bridgeport..

ugh it was either that or Metal Gear Portable Ops, both for $50, so i decided to pick up the component cable

and yes 480p resolution for those with HD tv or worst HDTV projection will benefit from it......... slightly improve the resolution and you get to see little texture more on a game like Zelda..

Nintendo will be releasing their official Component cable for the Wii eventually but im content wit the one they have at Futureshop right now

apparently the bridgeport location is the first to carry it tonight..

you use senses and then you dig though the floor theres a spot in the right side i think

Nintendo of Canada in richmond actually sells wii accessories in their hq..... i'm not sure what time their "store" opens but all i know is it closes at 4:30pm

just give them a call and check their supply.. its limited to one per customer..

and seriously thank god their limiting it to one customer...

Running 480p on HDTV for Zelda really shocked me...... shocked to say im glad it cleared the resolution with better texture.., im also shocked at how jaggy and unpolished the game is.........


well considering that Zelda is running on a maxed out hardware of the 'cube........... if rumours are true that Wii is twice as powerful as the Xbox (but no where close to the 360's capabilities), i can only dream what the next Zelda game could look like..

I just beat the game 18 hearts 49 poes, all bugs 7/7 skills no strategy guide, 48 hours. Gonna beat it again when i get my component cables and get all 20 hearts.

Well the game is pretty easy, some of the puzzles were tough but just had to look around, there is 2 heart peices in every duengan, i could of easily beat in at like 42 hours but i spent like 5 hours wandering looking for hearts/bugs and fishing. Not sure if youve played older zelda's but its basicaly the same things you have to look for. So i guess its experience i would say.

Nah this is my VERY FIRST zelda game, used to playing Final Fantasy series..

Ya i realize the games are base on solving puzzles. Yet fighting the boss is way too easy..or should i say...boring? after 40hrs+ playing this game i never ONCE came close to being dead fighting the boss, the most damage they did to me is like ugh...4-5 hearts?

i dont even understand the point of going thru the hassel to get 20 pieces of heart when u clearly dont need it. I stop giving a damn about hearts after i got 12 hearts on my screen..

man the last boss with his final stage was a little bit tough...he sure is a very skillful swordsman...

Anybody tried super golf? i heard some good reviews as well as bad ones.

Graphics looks pretty cute and clean, yet it doesnt support wide screen. A lot of users complained about their golf swing is very hard to hit a straight ball etc etc..

hey! so the amber color apparently means that it's in standby mode for wiiconnect24 and when the blue slot load LED's blink you have a messege. this stuff is probably in the manual, but oh well!
