Funny thing is. The owners of Pho Stanley and Noodle Island used to work at my family's restaurants (closed for retirement now).

So what you're saying is that your family produces quality pho joints.

Please adopt me.

Back then it was only Kim Hoang (when it was under my Dad's management/cook) and Pho Tam in Surrey.

I know how make killer pho with better quality ingredients that's restaurants wouldn't use (expensive) such as oxtail and bone marrow.

Kim Hoang used to be my go-to probably 6-7 years ago, fell off big time though, assuming that correlated with your dad leaving lol

Ahh..probably hit the tail end of his reign there then, started going back around 2001+

But yea, there was a time when it was decent but it took a steeper dive around 05/06

Hai phong is pretty decent on Kingsway.

Pho Tau Bay is pretty good in Surrey. I know of this place because I went there with my ex and she is Vietnamese and vouched for it. I still think Pho Hong is better.

Does anyone remember Pho Saigon (pho-to-go) on fraser and 152nd? His wife owned the nail salon next door and his kids would come from school to work during their lunch. I went there religiously for three years, until the owner had to shut down due to financial issues in 2014.

Anyways a co-worker told me that he saw a pho place in tsawwassen with the same name;
https://www.zomato.com/vancouver/pho-saigon-tsawwassen

dunno if it's the same owner or not...he mentioned about moving out to hope to start a business.

My Dad has retired.

If I we're to dine out for pho, I think it would Pho Tau Bay in Newton and... a place in Vancouver. Forgot the name but it has my Dad's approval.

Went to Noodle Island today. Blown away. It tastes like nammer food I had while growing up. For such a white name, it's pretty damn good!

I've tried to go to Au Petite twice now, and both times closed, just take my money.
