So I'm still kinda confused about the storyline after beating the campaign.

So Shepard setup the whole war (like tipping off Makarov about Pvt. Allen) in order to get more recruits to sign up?

I also don't get why Price wanted the nuke to go off and hit America.

I'm really impressed with how many guns you an choose from in this game, and how most of the SMGs/rifles randomly appear with iron sights, red dot, holographic, or ACOG. Makes for a ton of variety. I really dig the MP5k, UMP45, and Vector KRISS, especially when they have red dots.

Got Prestige last night at surry, but Xbox version. I want a PS3 version... anyone wanna trade their PS3 Hardened edition with Xbox Hardened or trade the whole Prestige edition?

There were well over 100 ppl at Surrey central. 22 Prestige for Xbox and 4~5 for PS3. Futureshop in same location has 5 for each and was gone for pre-order.

Wicked game. First thing I thought was how colorful the online maps are haha.

Is it just me or do you find that 1) cod4 seemed more realistic whereas this is more arcade? And 2) it's pretty easy to kill people online?

^ it should feel easy compared to MW1 unless you played hardcore because everyone had the health bonus on at all times. So it was a PITA killing people in non-hardcore matches.

someone please tell me there isn't a Juggernaut-esque perk in MW2

Mugen EvOlutioN, co-op for up to 2 ppl only I believe, which is a let down imo.

MP is changed on how to invite friend on PS3. I think it's worse. It's using the friend list to invite and it takes a little longer to get the invite done....

no problem on MP with PS3 which is kinda suprised. :p

dumb questions
1) Do i need a CD/DVD drive to play? My computer doesn't have an optical drive, I don't mind hooking it up for the installation, but do I need to keep it and have the original disk in the drive to play everytime?

2) I pre-ordered from dell few months back, unfortunately they are not shipping it until next week. :mad: Is it possible to go buy one from futureshop and return the sealed box from Dell when it arrives? Do all the places (futureshop, bb, ebgame, dell...etc) all have the same barcode for scanning at the cashier?)

went to EB games in Kelowna at 10:30AM. they said everywhere in kelowna was sold out and you have to wait unless you had a pre-order. so i went next door to walmart where they had huge pile of them.

Fuck EB games.

im doing the full solo campaign before i start multi player.. i must be at least half way thru by now? it seems pretty easy but i figured it would be since its mroe of a multiplayer game. i gotta say tho, when i first started the 'wolverine' level, i actually had abit of a 'whoa moment' thinking about what the reality of a scenario like that would be.

is it just me or is it way easier to level up in MW2 than MW. In like 1 hour of play I got to level 6. in MW it took me quite a while to even get to level 5 like 3 hours of play.

So twisty! I nearly cried, but it wasn't as poignant as the nuke explosion in MW1.

So many characters you play end up dead!

its so fucking annoying to start a game with friends.... either some get kicked out when we search for a server or we have a xbox party of 8 and need to go with some random guy for ground wars or domination, and when u have a huge party, its impossible to search for servers, either other servers don't have the capacity for your whole party or can't find any smaller server lobby with less people waiting

worst is team deathmatch, we have like 6 people in one party but we are forced to use in game chat and listen to all those other idiots in the lobby

I pre-ordered the Prestige Edition from Futureshop back in August then I got a Email today saying that they're out of stock and will ship once one comes in again.

I thought that the whole point in pre-ordering a copy that meant that you're kinda guranteed a copy on release date.

Pistol kill, switch to rifle + kill, nade kill, melee kill, call in airsupport kill.

Whatever you do, just has to be five different weapons. I don't quite remember how I got it but I think I did it in spec. ops.

looks like Modern Warfare 3 will be us chasing after Makarov?

I thought it was kinda shitty how there is no conclusion with Makarov but the last few missions were awesome

Was kinda disappointed how so many of the characters you play in this game end up dying

Kevin McKidd (Vorenus from Rome) does the voice for Soap.

There's lots of familiar voices in the game. For example, the guy that gives you orders from the air is the same dude that gives the orders from the air in Blackhawk Down...or as most of you will know him...Aaron the Secret Service Agent from 24.

Barry Pepper, or the sniper from Saving Private Ryan, is Cpl. Dunn.

The black dude that leads the American squad is...uh...this black dude that you see in a lot of movies and TV shows. I forget what he's actually been in.

I got that achievement without trying on a campaign mission where enemies kept dropping cool guns I wanted to try. I kept switching guns and randomly got the Desperado achievement lol.

BTW is anyone else extremely angry about this near the end of the game:

They create the most badass CoD/MW character in Ghost and then kill him off. So many other lame characters get to live like Price, Soap, Nikolai, Makarov, and Pvt Ramirez and his whole squad. I was pretty pissed to find out that Griggs from the first MW was actually dead. I thought he only got shot in the shoulder at the end of the first game.

Yup got it. Nothing to it all you have to do is the following.

Kill 5 enemies in a row using 5 different weapons or attachments in Single Player or Special Ops.

Now to get all the intel, only a few more left.

I got the game yesterday evening, already beat it today... about 5-6 hours of playing time. I'm suprised how short the story was... The graphics and all are sick but story could should have been way longer.

Anyways i tried connecting to xbox live and it said my router (NAT) is disabled and I can't connect? wtf never got this message playing any other games.

im pretty happy with the pc mp offering so far. getting a game is easy. no connection issues except for 1 drop and reconnect, thought that was pretty cool. one thing i didnt like was not being able to pick maps.
only rank 16 gonna take forever getting to 70

Seriously, the single player campaign is so good. I haven't even beaten it yet
(thanks for all the spoiler tags, and for no one spoiling it)

Storyline overall is great so far. Gameplay is good, they have all these other storyline features that other FPS would never have thought of doing. The twists they have in the story, etc.
I hate how some people plan to ONLY play multiplayer and ignore the single player. this is probably why Infinity Ward also decided that a 6 hour is good enough, since they think no one cares. That's A MISTAKE.

I played through half the game already (probably) within one sitting. This is horrible, and I wish Infinity Ward would make their games longer, but they don't for some reason.

Anyone having weird glitches with killstreak perks online? I got a 10 kill streak and only got the 3 usually perks, uav, drop, and that bomb thing. Sometimes I would get helicopter sometimes not. WTF GIVES?

Your AI partners (Main Characters) actually does something, unlike most games which you have retarded ai partners such as the ones in Killzone 2 and unc2. I finished on veteran,, and most of the time.. I camp and they actually help me out a lot.

SpecOps is like short bits of the SP section that you have complete certain objectives on (survive x amount of minutes, kill x enemies). There are also new missions but sometimes they need two players. :cry:

stupid games these day take up like 12GB of install (i only reserve 60GB for my pc game installs) ..is it 2 discs as well on 360? There's no way they can fit 12GB on a DVD9.

In conclusion

The early reviews of this game were conducted at a hotel under Activision's supervision, using the console version of the game. The launch party in New York featured the 360 version of the game. We were sent the Prestige Edition of the game the day of release for coverage. Very few people at the company seem to care that yes, there is a PC port of the game.

Well, we care, dammit. Call of Duty came from the PC gaming scene, and it was there that it was popularized. Yes, consoles are now the dominant form of gaming from a financial standpoint, but it's sad to see a game that has such a rich history on our favorite platform feel so neglected in its newest incarnation. The port of the single-player campaign is strong; the game looks, plays, and feels incredible on a capable gaming PC. The Special Ops missions are perfect if you're in the mood for a teeny-tiny LAN party (although of course you'll both need Steam accounts to play), but the multiplayer offerings feel like Infinity Ward is trying to cram a round peg into a square hole.

It's not what we're used to, it's not what we want, and the changes made to the online matchmaking set-up and lack of dedicated servers negatively change the online experience. It's just that simple.

There is no easy verdict here, but I'm going to say skip the PC version. Why? The single-player is over quickly. The Special Ops missions are great but there are better co-op games out there. The multiplayer is going to be huge on consoles, but on the PC it's just crippled. There is a lot of fun to be had here, but there are way better ways to spend your money, especially with the $60 price.

* Looks, plays great on the PC
* Killstreaks in multiplayer are a great addition
* Online play is still addictive
* Good selection of maps and game modes
* Special Ops missions extend the life of the game, great with a friend online

The Bad

* Single-player is over quickly
* The actual story is a little bit on the paranoid, gun-porn side of things
* Console-style online play on the PC
* $60 for a PC release? No thanks, guys
* Both the company and retailers barely seems to care about the PC version

The Ugly

* Huge design problems with the multiplayer version
* The game is already in the expected places. PC gamers will feel spurned and pirate, and Activision will claim they don't support the PC better because of piracy

I still can't get used to playing a FPS on console. I have to be the worst player online at any given time. I can't aim worth shit so trying to shoot someone when they actually know I'm there is totally futile because I'm dead before I can even try and aim.

I basically run around trying to knife motherfuckers because if I get close I don't have to aim. 14 out of 15 times I get die but there is that 1/15 time when I'll knife a motherfucker in the face and it feels so good, I'll fist pump then high five my sleeping dog all the while shit talking to my friends about how fucking awesome I am! Then I die and realize.....I fucking suck at this game!

except console gamers WANT games focused on consoles. And yes piracy is an issue, why do you think MS really lays down the law on modded consoles? If they don't, developers start leaning more towards the unhacked PS3, that's only logical.

Once you beat the game, the Museum from the credits becomes unlocked, so you can watch the animations from the credits again, and fire the weapons in the display cases and you can fight EVERY character in there altogether once you press a button that's on the info desk. Use the ammo pile before you press it.

It's being reported today the Microsoft
has banned up to 1 Million Xbox Live Accounts. Fresh on the heels of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release Microsoft has stepped up their attack on piracy by banning a mass of Xbox Live users. According to a report in InformationWeek, Microsoft has banned as many as a million players from Xbox Live for altering or modifying their consoles in order to play pirated versions of Xbox video games.

Activision's new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was released earlier this week, and InformationWeek has speculated that because pirated versions of the game appeared on multiple file sharing websites in before the games public release date, Activision may have put pressure on Microsoft which resulted in the Xbox Live account bans.

Microsoft said its "commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of the Xbox Live community remains a top priority. All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and modifying their Xbox 360 console violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live. We can assure you that if an Xbox Live member follows the Xbox Live terms of use, purchased a retail copy of Modern Warfare 2 and played the game on an unmodified Xbox 360, no action will be taken."

Over at the Xbox support page, Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, has addressed some of the circumstances that could lead to a player's Xbox Live account being banned.

"Players who find their Gamertags banned from Xbox Live have wound up in that situation due to violations of the Xbox Live Terms of Use," Major Nelson wrote.

"The Xbox Live team monitors players for not just cheating, but also for things like threats, racism, profanity, and just being an all around poor sport and ruining the game for others.

"When a Gamertag comes up as violating our policies for online behavior, the person who owns that Gamertag is punished by being banned from the service. Keep in mind, this isn't just a ban on a particular game. This is a ban on the Xbox Live service as a whole, so you won't be able to go online at all during your ban. Initially, you may be banned for a day, a week, or depending on severity, permanently! Kiss that $50 goodbye."

While Microsoft has always thwarted attempts at Xbox piracy by banning Xbox Live accounts this latest round of bans is a 5% reduction of the estimated 20,000,000 players who utilize the Microsoft services to compete with other players online. Even with the Xbox Live bans players will still be able to play games on their Xbox consoles, albeit without the ability to take their games online.

i dont know what it is that infinity ward does that treyarch doesnt, but this game and COD4 just play so fucking good and WaW just seemed to not. I could never get a good feel for WaW and stopped playing all together. COD4 is absolutely amazing and this is like COD4 with a cherry on top.

my only wishes were more hardcore game modes (i imagine they will be released later like with COD4) and about 5 of the maps are extremely similar (but I imagine a map pack will come again aswell). I saw so many cool levels in the solo campaign that i thought would be in the multiplayer but they just werent. imagine that one level in the snow at the air base where you cant see thru the fog in multiplayer! or washington burning!

edit: now that i think about it, while the maps certainly are alot more complex in MW2, alot of them dont seem to flow as well as COD4. maps like backlot, crash, crossfire, crash, strike, all had good flow thru and playability from different routes. alot of the ones on MW2 seem to be either running thru buildings like a mouse thru a swiss cheese maze, or you take 2 steps and 3 people have a direct sight line on you from halfway across the map or the layout seems completely random. i've got them mostly figured out, maybe ill learn to love them. i do already got a few that i really enjoy.

This article doesn't appear to have the facts straight. AFAIK, most Xbox Live bans on this latest ban wave have only banned Xbox console ID's. Gamertags appear to be unaffected, and can be used again on Xbox Live if you purchase a new unmodded Xbox console.

the thing that I don't like about CoD4 was how the maps were fairly small, and open. Theres typically 2 routes from one end to the other, making it pretty predictable/easier to camp. Bog, Crossfire, Countdown, Crash, Ambush, Downpour, Bloc and Wet Work are all like this, Backlot, Pipeline and Showdown are better.

I hope they come out with lots of Hardcore modes, I love HCTDM because you can actually use all the guns, stuff like the G3 is useless in non-hardcore because it takes so many shots to kill the guy when everyone has stupid Juggernaut turned on. Tactical is great as well, takes more skill and less run-and-gun, a HCTactical would be amazing.

On that, someone please tell me there's no Juggernaut perk. Please?

They got rid of that. Closest to it is One Man Army which lets you switch classes as many times as you want.

Bling lets you use 2 attachments, so you can use both a sight and a silencer at the same time for example. Pro just lets you put 2 on the backup as well, so Auto Glock with a sight and FMJ bullets for that one.

(i dont use pistols on the secondary, so idk them for real. im too busy shooting down shit with a Stinger to care)

Anyone having weird glitches with killstreak perks online? I got a 10 kill streak and only got the 3 usually perks, uav, drop, and that bomb thing. Sometimes I would get helicopter sometimes not. WTF GIVES?

The UAV and Counter-UAV are now visible, they look like airplanes, and they can only be taken down by a rocket like the AT-4, Stinger or Javelin. Best to take it down ASAP so you can see your map. Same goes for the Pave Low, Harrier, AC-130, Apache, and Hind if you don't wanna get rolled lol.

EDIT: Reason I never tried the Holosight is because I never noticed the difference, but I see a bit better aim after using it with my L86 setup. MG4 is a little weak for firepower, but it's SO accurate at long range.

In this pic, have a look at the sky? See the plane-looking thing? THAT is the UAV/Counter-UAV. Shoot it down with a Stinger shot, you only need one.

You can shoot down planes/UAV/counter-UAV/helicopter with guns, too. Usually takes 1 30-round mag for UAV/counter-UAV, and 100rd-150rds for planes, depending on whether or not you have Stopping Power Pro activated. :)

They have team balance when you finish your match, and then they balance it out with who scored the highest points and seperate them to different teams.

But why waste ammo having to shoot them down when you can just take one rocket? Sure you lose the secondary slot to the Stinger, but having the rocket is a safer kill option, and you can pick up a dead person's SCAR or w/e afterward.

Sure, that works too. I don't have the Stinger unlocked yet and the AT4 is just too inaccurate! :haha:

Anyone having troubles connecting to match making? I haven't been able to connect to server once yet? I'm on PSN ...I connect to MWF1 just fine but can't seem to connect to MWF2?

You get people raging quitting on your team so it becomes 6v3 and the game doesnt do jack to fix it.

its always the little kids that quit, if there team is loosing they just leave so dumb, all my games for the past hour have been like that.

I don't leave a match if the fight is close, but when my team is getting fucking rolled 55-20, that's enough reason to leave. No point in staying to get slaughtered and a minimal match bonus.

I have to agree with this. The first COD MW singleplayer I was pleasantly surprised, and I particularly enjoyed the chernobyl/sniper mission. This time around, the game feels so blatantly scripted. At least the previous one, the scripting felt more natural, this time around in more than a few occasions in supposed chase sequences, you just have to kind of chill a bit, walk to the next area and bam next lines of dialogue pop up. What really took the cake was when I was running low on ammo, oh look.. conveniently a pair of double automatic glocks just lying right there inexplicably in the middle of my path.

Yes, I got down to 28 secs. But I'm on PC.

EDIT: I hate messing with the network settings on the router - I can never seem to get it working right.

Not yet but I haven't really tried. Initially I was only trying to beat it under 35 secs to get 3 stars which I did with 34 secs. I'm not too sure I can do it in under 30 though possibly only 32 secs tops. If I was on PC sure but I'm on Xbox so don't think so.

It's pretty cheap online, most places have it for like 12-15 bucks for a generic skull balaclave similar to Ghost's.

I managed to get my Pit time down to 29.9 Seconds on the 360. Take your time, and bring the Holographic ACR and a USP. If you're careful in picking your shots and not hit any civvie targets, you're good to go. I missed a few shots during the run, and the USP just boosted up my accuracy when I ran out near the end.

you should be able to kill a couple of targets with your main gun after the house and THEN switching to a pistol to get the rest. USP is there for the ammo count over the deagle, even the M9 or G18 (if you can control that) would be a good choice

A faster way to do the Pit is to take only pistols, the M9 (15 rounds) and USP (12 rounds). The trick is to get over 100% accuracy which grants a time bonus. You can do this at a couple points by using one shot to take out two targets at once. Even if you don't hit two targets with one bullet, you still have enough rounds with the M9 and USP to do the entire run without reloading.

Start with the M9 as there are 13 targets before you get to the stairs. Switch to the USP at the stairs and melee the guy at the top (you melee faster with the USP since you hold the knife at the ready). After the melee attack, there are 10 targets remaining.

Pistols are best since they are the fastest to jump in and out of aiming down the sights. This allows you to use the auto aim correction and lock on to each target by jumping in and out of aiming. With semi-auto pistols you are also less likely to fire a second round by accident which could negatively affect your accuracy bonus.

Supposedly skull balaclavas are REALLY common in biker circles. The link I posted is a quality one and there are other generic ones that are cheaper, but otherwise ones made from military-grade material like the UA stuff don't exist and are usually 100% cotton.

I need one of these for skiing. I've seen several bikers with skull bandanas (folded in half it shows a skull) and also a kid with one that was dyed to look all bloody, as if his throat had been slashed or something.

there was another fix last night. but I was able to play co-op with my friend since day 1. :D

I went back to COD5 zombie last night and got to lv38 on der riese without being disconnected. The network on COD5 has much less traffic too. :)

I dont find that stopping power really does anything, i can shoot a guy in the back 2x and he will die either way.

I was doing that yesterday i was trying to get the experience points for marathon and lightweight i went 25-4 without shooting a bullet.
I had some of my best games just using a knife but it gets boring fast :)
