here's another one that grinded my gears this morning

People who talk about how horrible Trump is on daily basis. And openly question why people are still talking about his antics.

I get it, you hate him, I hate him, you don't understand why his hardcore supporters love him, yadda yadda yadda. If you truly didn't give a fuck about the guy, you'd have shut the hell up about him already. I hear about that orange orangutan more than I'd like in a fucking day from the media AND social media. I don't need to hear it from people too. Don't you have anything to talk about other than "...he said this today, can you believe it?!...How are people still supporting...?" I fucking get it. Stop giving the dip shit the time of day and talk about something else. Anything.

Fuck this fucking election. Not only are the supporters morons, but so are the ones who can't fucking stop talking about it. We're in fucking Canada, get ahold of yourself. There's other shit to talk about. At some point, the guy could have raped a 10 year old and I wouldn't even give a fuck because I'm sick of talking about or hearing about that mindless piece of shit and his antics.

Waste of money, waste of that, do it my way, it's better. But its not as efficient. No, you shut off and refuse help when given.

coming home and find your parking spot is taken I'll top that.

Last week, I came home to 4 RCMP vehicles parked in front of my spot with a 90s Camry parked in my spot. Turned out it was being driven with stolen plates. It remained there for 2 days before a tow truck came to get it.

Dumbasses in general have been grinding my gears.

I order a take-out at Boiling Point yesterday and I arrived 20 minutes after order was placed. The moment I walk up to the cashier, I already noticed there were several bags of take-out ready.

The cashier took my payment, and there was also a long line of customers wanting to pay. And so I sat there for nearly 10 minutes as the cashier continue taking payments. Nobody else knows I'm there for a take-out except the cashier. After my patience ran out, I walk up to the cashier and ask is my food ready. He takes one of the bag that had been sitting there for 10 minutes and handed to me. Like, for real?

Some people are just either very oblivious or just plain stupid. He is the true legit FAI CHAI (dead log in chinese) I met this week.

In a double left turn lane, why is it so hard to understand that if you're in the inside lane, turn into the inside lane. I always make sure I'm not side by side with people during the turn because more times than I'm comfortable with some asshole swings wide into my lane.

"Try and" and "try to" are different. actions used in "try and" often are assumed successful. Which gives me the image of a driver in your blind spot, trying to speed up and successfully blocking you and you had to merge behind him.

Also add to the fact that if you were in front, it's hard to justify if the driver behind you almost rear ended you, so I assumed you meant you almost rear ended them.

Had you said "they tried to speed up to block me", then I would know that the driver's attempt failed because of the fact that you felt you almost got rear ended.

You know what I'm tired and sick of: RANT INCOMING.

- People who still drive and talk on their phone. YOU drive $60k+ car and it doesn't have blue tooth? Give me a damn fucking Kit Kat break.. I mean the B.C. government just doubled the fines 7 months ago and people act like nothing has happened. Also folks who text, you think no one can see the light pulsating from your crotch. Your vagina ain't that magical, sub par.

- The amount of folk who don't turn on their lights when night falls. Do we need a PSA? I stopped trying to have people turn on their lights (the turning lights on and off method). Only a tiny handful would look down and turn on their lights, the rest is completely oblivious.

- Pedestrians who over use the "I'm a pedestrian, I have the right of way." Two weeks ago, at a 4 way stop in the West End, was next in line to go when a young woman decided that her text was more important than everyone around her. Double tapped the horn, it got her off her phone real quick. Last year I was walking behind someone who walked into a pole and ask "No one saw that right?" No, everyone saw and heard you smack your face into that pole."

- People who procreate and have their unruly kids run around. Two instances; got yelled at by some lady to take care of the kid in front of me, yelled back that shit ain't mine. Their mother came over apologized, don't yell at me you old witch. The other was at Superstore a few years back. Some kid thought he was Usain Bolt and ran past me as I was scratching my back. Elbowed him in the face, looked at me and was about to cry. I still remember this clearly, I looked back and shrugged "Ain't my problem".

TLDR; Distracted driving still happening, an increase of folks who drive without lights on, and unruly kids.

I vouch for the headlights at night. Every time I see someone without their headlights (you can tell from behind), I high beam them. This one time, I went from Commercial to Boundary on Broadway, literally just trying to get this dude to turn on his headlight. At a couple of red lights, I even pull up beside him and he just pretend I'm not there. Like, wtf? What do you call these people? Oblivious? Stubborn? Retarded?

and in addition, those people who feel like they need to zip around with their high beams on at all times... it hurts my eyes... (even after I flip the rear view mirror it still comes at me via side mirrors)
The most recent one really really drove me nuts, it was a 2016 Civic and this dude had his high beams on two cars behind me. Like the newer cars already have pretty decent head lamp optics, this dude's high beams were ridiculous. We were going up the Cut on Hwy 1, I kept right and let him pass me and I gave him a couple flashes to remind him, but it's like he was completely oblivious. :rukidding: Nothing changed.

I am actually surprised, lately, at the amount of cars I bring in at work with the high beams already switched on, when I do the light checks.

I don't understand people like this, I mean I get it if you have no benefits but if you do, what the fuck are you doing showing up and giving everyone your shit? Some people seem to have the impression that the world ends if they don't show up to their jobs for a couple of days.

I've finally been able to convince my wife to take sick days after YEARS of her pushing through colds, coughs and flu. It's just as much as a courtesy to your fellow co-workers as it is to yourself to take some days off when you look like you're about to cough/sneeze/puke your lungs and liver out and you're popping a tylenol/advil every hour just to stay at work. I don't want that shit. Get the hell out of the office and use your damn sick days.

I know for a fact that this co-worker who is coughing non stop like a cat with furballs in its throat is not even taking vacation days. He wants to be paid out for four weeks of vacation. Drivers who drive very fast on streets while there are large piles of snow mixed with dirt and other shirt, or streets with large puddles of water.

I remember this douchebag, hopefully nobody on RS, who drove his FR-S really fast on a downtown Vancouver street. His car went through a puddle really quickly while I was walking down a sidewalk which was beside the puddle.

-entire pants was wet from the puddle even as I tried to quickly move away from the puddle before that FR-S drove through it.

Co-worker was covered in snow mixed with who knows what after a bus driver drove quickly through a pile of melting snow. Again, she was walking on the sidewalk. I wanted to laugh at her misfortune but something similar happened to me with the rain puddle. LUL

We've seen the BC SPCA come over a couple of times over the last 2-3 years. I've called in the SPCA when one of their dogs escaped from their gated home. Richmond bylaws came, had a chat with the guy, gave some information and he took some pictures. Didn't see the dogs for a couple days and now after that incident they keep the garage open when they are home.

From COV
I'm not sure of the actual implications and the full detail (ie. in cases of condo buildings other bigger buildings)

REMOVAL OF SNOW OR ICE FROM SIDEWALK
76. The owner or occupier of any parcel of real property shall, not later than 10:00
a.m. every day, remove snow and ice from any sidewalk adjacent to such parcel
for a distance that coincides with the parcel's property line and for the full width
of the sidewalk.

76A. If an owner or occupier of any parcel of real property fails to remove snow and
ice, as required by section 76, the City Engineer may authorize the removal by
another person and the costs of such removal shall be at the expense of the owner
or occupier as the case may be, and the city may recover such expense by action
in a court of competent jurisdiction.

From a law firm site

To prove that an occupier is liable to you for your injuries if you slip and fall, you have to establish that the occupier didn’t live up to a reasonable standard of care in keeping the path free of snow and ice. An occupier of property doesn’t have to keep pedestrian routes totally clear of ice and snow at all times to avoid being sued; they just have to have a regular, reasonable clearing system in place. In the words of one court decision, “the proper standard does not require the occupier to eliminate every possibility of danger.”

God forbid, if I or anyone in my family slips as a result of someone not doing their part, I will sue the living daylights out of them.

Legally speaking they aren't required to enter the intersection until they want to, unless there's an advance green.

(2) When the driver of a vehicle intends to turn it to the left at an intersection where traffic is permitted to move in both directions on each highway entering the intersection, the driver must

(a) cause the vehicle to approach the intersection in the portion of the right side of the roadway that is nearest the marked centre line, or if there is no marked centre line, then as far as practicable in the portion of the right half of the roadway that is nearest the centre line,

(b) keep the vehicle to the right of the marked centre line or centre line of the roadway, as the case may be, at the place the highway enters the intersection,

(c) after entering the intersection, turn the vehicle to the left so that it leaves the intersection to the right of the marked centre line of the roadway being entered, or if there is no marked centre line then to the right of the centre line of the roadway being entered, and,

(d) when practicable, turn the vehicle in the portion of the intersection to the left of the centre of the intersection.

Explains prohibited stops.

For 2017, I am trying to be less salty and try to be less of a hot head. But some folks really grind my gear. Here comes the salt:

I'm not sure when nor what Superstore had done to their employees. Some of the people working there need to get their attitude checked real quick. Always tried to be the easiest and nicest customer to deal with because we all have dealt with shite customers before. What I didn't do tonight was have a quick chat with the manager, ain't no one in line has to deal with your shit attitude.

It still amazes me that people do the things you aren't suppose to do while driving. Saw an older lady (early 60s) driving while talking on speaker phone. One hand on the steering wheel, other hand full view with her phone in her hand. Or, have headphones in driving with no lights on at night. I always hear the older generations bickering about the young adults on their phone. They increased the fine not only for shitty drivers but for everyone. You can't just pull the "I'm old and didn't know you can't use your electronic devices while driving" card. Get caught, own it.

Sometimes watching this reminds that maybe we have it easy in Metro Vancouver... have a good night yall, I'm gonna fight this cold.

I find that people "think" they have the right away in any situation they are in. I believe that is the problem with the general population. It is placed into their mind that "I have the right away, I have the right away, I have the right away, they must stop for me." What disappoints me the most is seeing people not aware of their surroundings, it is taught when we are younger but not used when older. I had my fair shares of interacting with shitty pedestrians too. I wish there were more PSAs for pedestrians and cyclist. I see that it is more car related than the others, please fill me in if you can.

Now I have a question if all of you folks that can answer for me. Let's say I am at a crosswalk by VGH Emergency and there are cyclists zooming by. Do I have the right of way or do they have? During the day, I find myself playing Frogger or just waiting until there is no one left flying by.

It doesn't say anything about when you must enter though, only what to do once you have.

Yellow light

128 (1) When a yellow light alone is exhibited at an intersection by a traffic control signal, following the exhibition of a green light,

(a) the driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection and facing the yellow light must cause it to stop before entering the marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if there is no marked crosswalk, before entering the intersection, unless the stop cannot be made in safety,

(b) a pedestrian facing the yellow light must not enter the roadway, and

(c) a pedestrian proceeding across the roadway and facing the yellow light exhibited after he or she entered the roadway

(i) must proceed to the sidewalk as quickly as possible, and

(ii) has the right of way for that purpose over all vehicles.

(2) When a yellow light alone is exhibited at a place other than an intersection by a traffic control signal,

(a) the driver of a vehicle approaching the signal must cause it to stop before entering the nearest marked crosswalk in the vicinity of the signal, or if there is no marked crosswalk, before reaching the signal, unless the stop cannot be made in safety, and

(b) a pedestrian must not enter the roadway in the vicinity of the signal until either

(i) the traffic control signal facing the vehicular traffic exhibits a red light, or

(ii) a traffic control signal instructs the pedestrian that he or she may cross the roadway.

Technically, it doesn't state when you have to enter the intersection on green. You can enter it 5 seconds after it turns green, 10 seconds, whatever. However, by law, if you're not in the intersection (the point of no return) when the traffic light is amber, you're not suppose to make the turn because you can stop safely when amber.

So if a driver doesn't enter the intersection when he has an advance green, he/she will not be allow to make the turn when it's amber because a safe stop can be made.

That would constitute as a prohibited stop.

When you have an advance green you wouldn't enter the intersection and then stop. Failing to turn left on an advance green is no different from failing to proceed through a green light. Everything I've been talking about it when you don't currently have an advance green.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

The only thing that would prevent a driver from turning left on an advance green is oncoming traffic and pedestrians crossing the adjacent street.

I can't think of any reason a driver would fail to proceed through a green light other than a pedestrian jay walking and obstructing that driver's right of way.

The pedestrian would have to be jaywalking and oncoming traffic would have to be running a red light, so the person turning left wouldn't be stopping by choice.

Why do you keep talking about advanced greens (with the arrow)? If you have an advance green and there is nothing obstructing you then you must proceed, the same as a normal green light when you're going straight. However if you're turning left and don't have an advance green (just the regular green for through traffic) you do not have to enter the intersection.

I literally buy almost everything off Amazon. The shitty part is when they use Purolator but for thr most part theyve been using their own shipping guys lately.

Seems like theyre rolling out same-day/one day shipping for eligible items over $25.

Seriously, how hard is either throw into garbage or pay the small fee to dump it at the dump yard. Because you have a green light with nothing in front of you?

The pedestrian would have to be jaywalking and oncoming traffic would have to be running a red light, so the person turning left wouldn't be stopping by choice.

Why do you keep talking about advanced greens (with the arrow)? If you have an advance green and there is nothing obstructing you then you must proceed, the same as a normal green light when you're going straight. However if you're turning left and don't have an advance green (just the regular green for through traffic) you do not have to enter the intersection.

Ahh, I get what you mean now.

So legally person in turning lane can just park there and watch traffic lights cycle while cars behind them wait?

That's the part I was confused about, because if you don't enter the intersection, and the light turns amber, you're technically not allowed to enter at the point because you can make a stop safely.

So I still stand by my point that legally, you must enter the intersection on normal/advance(duh) green before making a left turn. At what point during the green though, is totally anyone's call which makes the situation more complicated.

Failing to turn on a green because the driver didn't enter the intersection is considered prohibited stop.

02-19-2017, 12:28 PM
So legally person in turning lane can just park there and watch traffic lights cycle while cars behind them wait?

They shouldn't sit there indefinitely, but without an advance green there's no requirement to enter the intersection. I think it's something that falls heavily under discretion, ie you shouldn't be sitting there all day, but you aren't forced to move forwards if it's going to be dangerous.

Where do most security breaches come from these days? Someone physically accessing the machine, or someone connecting via the internet? The person trying to gain access with the password you've used for every account you have and never changed can't see the sticky note on the bottom of your screen.

The person trying to gain access with the password you've used for every account you have and never changed can't see the sticky note on the bottom of your screen.

Man in the middle/Evil Twin is a famous way to sniff passwords. The attacker would set up a rogue access points near wireless access points. The rogue access point is identical to the wireless access point. Users who wants to connect to the wireless access point will have to scan for the nearby network, say Starbucks. The rogue access point would output a stronger signal, which the scanner would pick up on first. Then, users will connect to the rogue, which acts as Starbucks. Any data going to Starbucks will go through the rogue, where he decrypts all the packets of data and then encrypting it before sending it to Starbucks and back, rinse and repeat.

This is why changing passwords regularly is important. Especially after logging into a bank account at a wifi hot spot, or even on your mobile network.

Luckily, a lot of sites and clients are coming out with two way confirmation security. People who have battle.net accounts and battle.net authenticator will know what I'm talking about.

When people assume you can speak mandarin and then look dumbfounded you can't. I am already having a hard time speaking in Cantonese to strangers. :okay:

Was at metrotown T&T when a mastercard guy comes up from behind me and starts doing his pitch in mando.
I kept a straight face and let him do his pitch until finally I burst out laughing :lawl:

I apologized and let him do his pitch in english :lol

What the hell is up with people not letting people merge in from the middle lane to the right most lane?

I tend to merge in at the right most lane more or less before the 600m sign to Willingdon so that I can exit and every other morning there's some dipshit who'll aggressively close the gap and not let me merge in. The kicker is that most of the time, these dipshists don't even end up exiting at Willingdon.

Quit being cunts. Let people merge in. You're not gonna gain precious time. It makes you a dumb piece of shit.

Fast food joints. Bring on the fucking robots already maybe then I won't have to pull over and wait for 10 minutes after the drive thru and then have to run inside because they fucked up the order.

Or I could just start eating better I suppose.

One of my teammates suggested that in cases like this, just be a social loafer. Do the work, and go with what they fuck up. Cause at the end of the day, you stress out more than its worth.

I thought of that, but my work depends on his and by the end of the month, I'm going to have to fix it because my grade depends on it.

A class we have taught us risk analysis and suggests that at the beginning of any project, put in minimal amount of work to produce the skeleton of the project so that if it gets cancelled, you lose very little. That's what I should have done.

When you go to bed early and your SO comes home after you've been asleep for a couple of hours, loads up a movie on Netflix in the bedroom, wakes you up because she's bored, and falls asleep half an hour into the movie ... :rukidding:

The only acceptable situation is if she chilled with the Netflix. Otherwise tell her to eff off

You shouldn't have TV/computers/laptops in your bedroom. I realize sleeping hygiene is so important when you get older, as it becomes harder to fall asleep or get enough sleep.

single lane traffic, overtaking someone (old man was driving slow) on a broken yellow line, and then he decides to accelerate to match my speed. like...:rukidding: Trust me it was totally safe to cross into the opposite lane as absolutely no cars were travelling on the other side of the lane.

After passing him, he then decides to tailgate me and honk continuously like a mad-man. I can only assume he forgot about the rules regarding solid/broken yellow lines.

People who lack respect for others but want to be treated as Kings and Queens. If you cannot calm down and freak out like a 12 year old at me, fuck off. Don't tell my big customer to "learn how to drive", how about you learn to shut your big fat vagina. No one needs to hear the shit spewing out of there.

But all in all, I showed face and nicely to park this spot or outside. And also calmed down my big customer in Cantonese, not to deal with them. Getting angry over parking is redonkulous. Got my salt out, good vibes only. Peace!

Places that accepts cash only......especially when HST was a thing.

That and places that ask for more tip when the service was exceptionally bad, they would literally argue about it and would not let you leave the restaurant. ** cough Bamboo Grove in Richmond**

Call the police for forcible confinement. As long as you paid your bill, tip is optional. You could leave $0 and there isn't shit they can do about it. The exception to this is that restaurants may, at their option, require a mandatory tip for large parties (6 or more), which would be added to your bill.

Funny thing was the owner was the one that suggested to call the cops and I really wish they did though I dont think the cops would come and we didnt want to wait hours.

My sis gave them more tip on a separate transaction on her credit card then did a chargeback. They made it sound like we were in the wrong, it was a awful feeling for sure.

Drivers, who are stopped briefly at a stop sign, that try to turn right into a street expecting the vehicles in front of them to stop for them.

Where the fuck is your patience and obedience to the traffic rules? Stop behind the stop sign and wait for your turn to turn right when there is a safe distance to turn right!

Idiotic, impatient drivers with a sense of entitlement!

I see many drivers pull this stunt every day in the Lower Mainland. SUV and truck drivers are the worst with this bad habit!!

I just speed up on the road to ensure that driver facing the stop sign cannot just cut right in front of me and ignore the stop sign. :lawl:
