There were about a dozen cops right after the game by BMO. Then they all ran off down an alley and everything started getting smashed. Not an officer in sight for a good 15mins after that.

Well the word is that fan zones and setting up screens for fans to view events is basically done with. That would make sense because you won't have the large crowds pile into the city, you'll basically have decent sized crowds like what you saw in the first 3 rounds that stuck around in the Granville area. I've been wondering the same thing after going thru a dozen pages, what is he guilty of doing? Didn't know posing in front of a looted store was a crime. All the info that has been posted about him is invasion of his privacy unless someone posts some evidence of whatever crime he has committed. None of this was a peaceful protest.

But the cops did a good job. I walked up to almost every line of riot shields, asking officers questions politely on where I can go and how to get where because of the closed streets. For the most part there were friendly. I almost shat my pants once because I asked one if I could go past the line, just around the corner because I couldn't find another way around. He grabbed my arm without saying anything and pulled me forward. At that point, I was thinking "Oh shit, what did I do?" but he just told me to go.

I stood around with a couple of cops near the library watching a marching line of riot geared police pass in front of me. I asked if I could take a picture...one of them heard me, turned around and posed, smiling. :lol

What will piss me off even more is if these people aren't charged. The police would have a ridiculous amount of video and photographic evidence, enough to charge hundreds of people. I hope they actually spend the time and money to go after everyone they can and make an example of them, instead of charging only a few of the more serious offenders.

However, the manner of this riot is despicable. I'm not racist and I do apologize but I have to point this out - I see a bunch of White TRASH in these videos and pictures. Some brown people, extremely small amount of Asians, but a BIG WAVE OF WHITE TRASH DESTROYING VANCOUVER. The guy who fell did NOT die. He was sent to hospital ASAP but didn't die. Police are having a press conference this afternoon for all the details.

Last night I heard CTV say that a reported "7 people" were sent to St. Pauls Hospital for stab wounds, but they haven't gotten back to this or confirmed it.

I'm sure everything will be cleared up at the VPD/RCMP press conference later today.

All I can say is: I REALLY HOPE anyone doing anything negative in those pictures gets anything from a fine, to jail time. Personally I don't think the cops did a good enough job. They shouldn't have "shown" their presence. They actually should've been firing WAY MORE tear gas canisters, using pepper spray, and using those god damn battons. Presence doesn't stop a riot, but EXTREME FORCE does. And I think they should've done this right from when people started trying to flip the first car outside the Postal Office.
