Jeff Carter is such a plug

He'll be the odd man out soon

He was selected to join the 2010 team from the bleachers...go figure

He was probably the coldest guy after team announcement

I felt the wind from all of his fanned shots from my living room. There's no denying the guy can skate and shoot, but for some reason he only did the prior today.

I take back all my criticisms about Carter. I made that meme too soon. He can produce points after all.

He's gotta keep his play consistent when we play the tougher opponents like Sweden, the U.S, and Russia.

Alcohol does wonders for his game, haha. :woot2:

lol if that story's true then his sense of humour is right up Robongo's alley. I wonder who's not in the "inner circle" on the team. Hammer has his wife in Sochi so he's exempt. I figure Crosby and Kunitz are loners a la Crosby/Dupuis in 24/7. Same with Carey Price/Subban/Tavares. I wonder who people like Carter/Perry/Getzlaf/Doughty/Luongo would make fun of on the team.

Edit: totally misunderstood your post. I thought you meant Carter said he has too many pucks at home given his goal-scoring prowess. That story makes it all the better coming from Luongo.

Carter's play is inconsistent. How can you rely on a guy who only shows he when he wants the puck? Canada needs to be running on all cylinders, play better as a team, show improvement game by game.

We don't need guys who don't play at their peak every game in a round robin tournament.

If Dry Island Carter scores a hat trick against a hockey powerhouse like Sweden, U.S., or Russia, I'll eat my words.

I don't think he has what it takes to play every game at the level we've seen him play against weaksauce Austria.

And thats exactly my thoughts of Jeff Carter. Things were spiralling outta control for this guy when he took that tripping call. It would be the end of the line for him if he didnt step up after that ridiculous play.

I don't think anyone here doubts his skill and scoring sense. At least I didn't.

Sounds like I asked a retarded question, but hear me out.

Let's talk about the US vs Russia game for example.

This is their highlight articles: Sochi 2014 - CBC Sports - T.J. Oshie scores shootout winner for U.S. against Russia (http://olympics.cbc.ca/news/article/beats-russia-shootout-men-hockey.html). It only showed the shootout.

Then there's the full replay: CBC Sports - FULL EVENT: Men's hockey: U.S. vs Russia (webcast) (http://olympics.cbc.ca/videos/live/video/men-hockey-prelim-round-usa-rus-webcast.html). This shows the whole game.

I want to see the highlights of all the goals, hits, saves combined. Right now, it only seems like I have to watch the whole webcast and find the moments manually and go through them. I guess that's the only way by clicking on the milestones?

The hard work way would be to open the full replay, and use the time bar at the bottom to check out the goals. Unfortunately, no other plays show up on said bar.

Otherwise, I know the feel.

To be honest, I think/want USA to win and I feel they have want it takes to Win Gold vs Canada in the Finals. They lost in Vancouver and the are HUNGRY for the Gold. Their team is similar to 2010 but with a mix of mature and young top tier talent. More so than the Canada in my opinion.

I think its harder for Team Canada to defend their Gold Metal performance. Especially 4 years later.

I am a fan of Luu. But having Price in net will prove to me that Price is an overrated goalie. I just want Luu not feeling that he let Team Canada down by losing in the Gold Metal Game.

Go Team USA!

Exciting was an understatement. As much as I was rooting for Canada, Samkova from the Czech Republic definitely deserved the gold. She had a solid performance throughout the entire event. Men's final tomorrow night should be pretty good.

And Canada got a bronze earlier tonight in the men's super g final. Not too shabby of a day for Canada today.

If Canada/Finland goes to OT, regardless of outcome, U.S. would move up to No. 2 seed; winner of OT Can/Fin game would be No. 3 seed

Regulation win by either Can or Fin tonight gives that team No. 1 seed and a QF date with winner of 8-9 matchup between Slovenia-Austria.

Also, loser of Can-Fin, if in regulation, drops to No. 4 seed and would get No. 5 Russia in QF (counting on Russia winning qualifying game)

Huge game then....

Rask still has a shutout............ damn. :troll:

Rask rated top goalie, according to CBC.

Heading into the Olympics, here are the 10 best goalies at the tournament:

Tuukka Rask, Finland – He was excellent for Boston in the Stanley Cup final and has followed up that fine play with an excellent .928 save percentage and a league-leading five shutouts.

Ryan Miller, United States – The best goalie in Vancouver four years ago has found his form this season with 15 wins on a bad Buffalo team and sound .923 save percentage.

Henrik Lundqvist, Sweden – He wasn’t very good early, but Lundqvist certainly has exhibited his winning ways lately with a four-game win streak.

Carey Price, Canada – The cool-as-a-cucumber goalie was overheated at the end of the season because of his dismal play. But he’s been consistent for Montreal this season with 25 wins and a .924 save percentage.

Jonas Hiller, Switzerland – His stock dropped a tad with only one win in six starts after reeling off 14 in row for Anaheim.

Semyon Varlamov, Russia – He leads the league in saves with 1,436 and already has checked in with a career-high 28 wins for Colorado this season.

Antti Niemi, Finland – He’s tied with Price for the most starts this season at 47 and simply wins and wins and wins for San Jose.

Jonathan Quick, United States – He hasn’t been as good since he returned from his serious groin injury. His has lost five of his last since for Los Angeles and has a less-than-ordinary 6-8-2 record since he returned after being sidelined for eight weeks.

Roberto Luongo, Canada – The defending gold-medal champion has slumped with only a victory in his last six starts and a less than dazzling .887 save percentage for Vancouver.

Jaroslav Halak, Slovakia – Since a flu bug took him from the net for 12 days after Christmas, Halak has gone 7-2-1 since Jan. 9 for Slovakia.

haha........ got mixed up between watching hockey on CBC and skating on TSN, then seeing it again on CBC. Didn't know which was rerun and whatnot.

Hopefully not a prediction that'll come true. So hoping for them taking gold on their last Olympics.

It's been 20 years since a Canadan has been on the podium for Alpine Skiing?

Well then, kudo's for Jan Hudec - tied for bronze with Amurican Bode Miller.

Lucky Loonie pays off.

History behind Jan Hudec. Amazing shit. Just watching interview on CBC.

Don't forget today is last day to get your Lucky Loonie at Canada Mint downtown on Granville Street. I almost forgot, so going right now. They have some left. You can exchange up to ten bucks for ten coins.

Is it time to start displaying the standings in order of total medals instead of golds? :troll:

I remember NBC started doing that one year in the summer olympics when America had the most medals, but not the most golds

Was listening to the commentators, whoever they are (both are a little weird) and they were mentioning that the Russian curlers were from other sporting disciplines AND, that they also model. Makes total sense.

Virtue and Moir grab silver. I didn't catch either performance in it's entirety but the CBC announcer was saying "you could pick either team and not be wrong". And apparently the USA team was undefeated since the 2012 World Championships, so there doesn't seem to be enough there for a real controversy.

a 2.5 point spread in the free and short dance is somewhat interesting though.. world records for every dance the US pair performs?? hmmm... I guess it is the Olympics, and athletes are "letting it all out", compared to the world's......

Yeah, I heard Kurt Browning explain this morning how the Americans' program is more technical, vs. Canada's which is more artistic and that the judging may be skewed more to the former.

Yeah I read a few things on how some "experts" such as the person who invented one of the required elements for the short program said that Virtue and Moir should've been in first place after said short program.

But even when taking into account the 2.5 points spread (which apparently is a HUGE divide), the Americans brought it again for another world record in the long program by a bigger spread than in the short.

So even though the scores should've been much closer, it looks like (to the untrained eye such as mine) that the best team still won the gold.

I find it very interesting that the top 2 teams train together. I wonder how much seeing each other's routines comes into knowing what needs to be done in order to top each other.

It seemed like Moir and Virtue were pretty content with the Silver knowing it was their last Olympics. Isn't it White and what's her face's last too?

I'm guessing so since they're "old" compared to the Russian couple. Add another 4 years, and it's likely that even if they don't say it's their last, some young couple will either push them down or out altogether.

silver medal performance? are you predicting the future?

I guess I called it.......... not a surprise. It's the way the judging goes. It's why you watch this shit for the performance and not the result. The deal was made long ago and the results were as predicted.

Actually, history repeats itself.......... long ago, by you guys' standards, there was this pair that gave the performance of their lives. Perfect to everybody who watched it. Brought tears to many eyes. Should have won the gold for sure, but nope. It was fixed.

Now, like some people have stated here in this thread, the competition was pretty close, so the controversy was not really there.

In my books, our pair skated a tad better. Dance......... it's about the emotion and the things you canot measure.

Also, our pair are hella better looking. That American woman, gawd, she creeps me out........ then she talks and it's like get me outta here, LOL.
