They have been making outerwear for 4 years first of all, hardly a substantial amount, and they offered nothing to snowboarding as a whole until they signed Dustin Craven like 8 months ago. I have no respect for these companies that no nothing about the sport and see a dollar to be made and hop on the bandwagon. Fuck even Red bull has helped build the sport since before there was big money to be made. I suppose this company really fits in what FIS and the olympics really feel about snowboarding anyways.

I get it, but after rocking UA base layer gear for so long, I gave them a shot for outerwear. I bought a set of pants made by UA this year. I'll see how they hold up. I have a feeling they will be pretty good, UA is quality stuff.

I don't get why an american company is making Canada's outerwear for the olympics either, but leaving that aside, the jacket does look remarkably sick. Pants are a little overboard, but I would rock the jacket.

On the note of McMorris, he is for sure sick, just wondering why more people are not talking about Seb Toots. I know him personally, and I think he is going to kill it.

I agree. Shaun White is a very good snowboarder but to say he's the best.. I dunno about that. There are so many different competitions that it's hard to say one person is the best snowboarder period. I think he would have quite the competition for this year's slope style at the winter olympics. I do enjoy watching him though so I hope he puts on a good show at the half pipe event.

Rooting for mcmorris, parrot and toutant. Hoping at least one of them will bring home a gold for Canada.

That wasn't the case in Whistler. I bought one of the units in Whistler's Athletes Village. Our Athletes Village was finished well ahead of schedule. My current kitchen are was the common space with a temporary wall turning my "now living room" into a second bedroom. . After the Olympics the temporary wall was taken down, the kitchen cabinets and appliances were installed and everything was re-painted. It's well built and a relative bargain. I couldn't be happier! It's truly an Olympic Legacy. (for me anyways)

2 things hockey players on the road share rooms and some hotels in parts of Europe don't have shower curtains. I was in a $300 a night hotel In Paris France and it had no shower curtain. Had to use my body to block the water.

They were quite big negatives too. Not so much the structural gaffes that we're "seeing" in Sochi, but IIRC the British media were saying that Vancouver2010 venues and layout were the worst they had ever seen. Then the unfortunately events at the sliding center added to the pile of criticisms.

But once the opening ceremonies started, you rarely heard a critical piece written about Vancouver (and still don't).

I think Russia was just over ambitious with their development. That CBC passionate eye documentary lays it out quite well and says that a vast majority of the development while the construction companies say it's a "games project" has moreso to do with selling condos to the rich after the games tha anything to do with athletes or spectators of the games

I agree, the visuals were really nice in Sochi. The Beijing games really brought projected images (the scroll painting) to the world stage. 6 years later, Sochi took it to another level, almost every performance had projected images and it greatly enhanced the visuals. My favourite was how they showed the geographic map of the country during the Parade of Nations.

Besides Neidermeyer and Pronger on D, we have a better team. Thornton, Morrow, and Heatley have been very well replaced by way better players. Perry, Getzlaf, and Nash are monsters. Crosby will rip it up. Except the Golden Goal, he didn't produce much in 2010. This 2014 team is STACKED so much that Subban is the odd D out, and Duchene and St Louis may not even play!

To be honest, I'm tired of all the bashing on the Sochi Olympics. Sure, there was some shit that wasn't done. But have any of these bashing news articles made mention of how much actually was completed? Including a brand new highway that includes dozens of new bridges. Virtually nothing existed where it now does, including the stadiums and other buildings.

Let's not forget that Vancouver also had it's own share of problems leading up to our own Olympics.

Umm, when $50 Billion dollars is spent on something, I think people have a certain level of expectation. Especially when Vancouver 2010 was only about ~$7 Billion.
This is just an ignorant assumption, but i'm pretty sure it costs a lot less to build a building in Russia than it does in Canada...

Every Olympic games goes under a lot scrutiny, this isn't anything new. So why should this be any different for the most expensive games in Olympic history?
