One thing I'll miss about driving a Civic is the fuel efficiency. I could go at least a week between fill ups and my average with the MR2 is every 5 days. I guess working in North Van doesn't really help either.
BUT, SMILES PER GALLON > MILES PER GALLON!

Quick guideline:

Is it safe to assume small children don't mind facing backwards in cars? I remember as I was older and friends had their first cars (read as station wagons) they all had the rumble seats in the trunk that would open up and face backwards. Whoever would ride back there quickly felt nauseous and ill. Not a problem for kids??

Last day at this height. Going into the shop tomorrow for a pretty much complete suspension overhaul. Tein coils, Skunk2 LCAs, front control arm poly bushings, all new OEM bushings where needed, front camber bolts, etc. Pretty excited!
Went from 235/65R16 crappy grand touring all seasons to 225/60R16 performance all seasons. so much less of an SUV tire look, a much more low profile tire.

Its tough...really tough. Rains once and they are dirty. The inside is the hardest because when you wash your car you have to make sure there is no water left or else when you drive the dirty water flings all over the rims and leaves black drip marks all over them. Installation complete! Rear subframe is just under 3 inches off the ground. Front fitment is exactly what I wanted, rear fitment is way off, wheels are super sunken in, will need 15mm spacers and more fender work (essentially cutting off my entire inner fender and cutting off more of the outer fender).
Fronts are a 2-finger gap, rears are barely 1-finger. Haven't decided if I want to raise the rear to match the front, or lower the front more if it's possible to lower even more.
Shitty potato pics, haven't taken it out for some real driving to test out the coils yet, and yes I am aware that the drop is uneven, that will be sorted out this Friday. I will also be keeping the camber, I couldn't care less about tire wear as these tires only cost me $300 USD for a whole set, more camber was part of the plan.

Put SPC camber bolts in the front which max out at -1.75, going to check all the camber and alignment settings this Friday when I'm taking the car in for alignment after the coils settle. Told the shop to camber the fronts until the wheels are flush with the fender, which they more or less are. Could use a little more though, unless they're already maxed out which I didn't ask.
Not too worried about camber at the moment, I just want to even out the drop and get spacers to push the rears flush with the fender.

All the suspension bits added up cost me about $1,200 USD (I bought most of the parts when our dollar was 0.83 cents US). Installation was $390 with alignment included in the price.
From when I took over the Element till now, it has about $3k invested in it up to this point. Don't really intend on doing anything much more, maybe a new set of wheels if I get bored. There's just some leftover minor details I want to do before I "finish" with the car.

The worst is when you're doing a solid 60+km/H and hit a spot in the road with deep ruts from the heavy tractor trailers and your car has a sudden and terrible impact with "rut mountain" followed by a loud painful grinding that lasts many yards.
Mainly an Alberta problem I would think.. but damn it sucks.
I also like when you're driving with some noob passenger and do the whole 45 degree approach over a speed bump and still grind.. they just look at you like "what's the point if you still grind" not understanding the severity of the consequences of a straight on approach.
Another classic, you're with noob passenger leaving a parking lot and take the longest possible route out, and they're like "you're going the wrong way" when in reality you're just looking for the only angle of approach acceptable for your car :s
People just don't understand how hard life is when you have limited ground clearance :( The GT3 front overhand is terrible, good thing the front lips are 300$ disposables.

So i'm curious about this thing? Clearly not going to be much of a street car. Just a straight up track machine? Built to any sort of class specifications?
This car was initially built as a fun engine swap/seasonal daily; but like any project car it got totally carried away. Now almost 3 years of buying parts and putting the car together I've decided to make this build a Time-Attack track car.
I'm not a professional driver nor is this the best platform for a time-attack car but this build definitely brought me back to why I love cars so much. I've already booked off days for the TSS Track Days and I will try to get as much seat time in this car as possible when time/work permits.
But rest assured this car will not be hard-parked! :)

About the Sea-to-Sky Gondola:
The gondola ride up is surprisingly very scenic and exceeded my expectations.
The mountain top view was amazing!
The suspension bridge was a surprise as I didn't expect one there.
If you guys pass by the Sea-to-Sky gondola, I recommend going up top.
If you are into hiking, you can hike up the few thousand feet, and pay only $10 to ride down.
Also, up top, there are 3km of trails and many more kms of back-country trails.
The snow level was just a few hundred feet above the top of the ride.

^ how bad/expensive was it? I have a feeling mine leak as well.
I believe a Honda dealership can get you the gaskets for roughly $20 a piece. As far as installation goes it's super quick and simple. I just did mine a few weeks back.
If you're lucky enough that the leak hasn't caused damage inside your car, I would change the gaskets asap to prevent that.

My fogs are HID's. There is ways to make sure you aren't pissing off other drivers.
For my car I tinted strategic areas of the reflector bowls to ensure I wasn't scattering light all over the fucking place, and I also aimed them down slightly.
Light doesn't come much higher than my headlights now, and it is alot less direct than the headlight pattern since there is no projector to focus it.
Also I am only running 3000k bulbs so its not that extreme bright white which is irritating to a lot of eyes...
That's a lie, you're always blinding me with your fogs whenever I see you :troll: :troll: :troll:

This road is close to my house, please don't ruin it lol. I have also done shenanigans on this road.
So you fail him for uploading pictures on that road, then reply with "I have also done shenanigans on this road" ...?

Love both your cars
But lose the plate on the dash. You'll still get a ticket with it there, not to mention a lecture on how it's not safe, it'll cut your head off in an accident, blah blah. Plus it looks lame lol. Just toss it on the floor in the back. If you get pinched for not having it, just say someone backed into it, and you're waiting to pick up replacement parts to mount it back on.
Moar pics of dat Buick :D oh and what did you buy at the Can Tire? ;)

The ticket for an improperly displayed plate is also higher than the ticket for no plate.

Believe me, I'm well aware. Long story short...
I've never been pulled over with the plate like that. With all the cops I pass, cops I travel behind, cops I encounter at road checks, I've never had a single issue with my front plate.
THEN
A friend told me about the fines for both plate violations. So I took the plate off and put it on the floor and drove for a week that way. I was pulled over twice. Luckily, both times the cops gave me warnings because I did have the plate mounts in a box in my trunk.
Went back to mounting the plate this way and never had a problem since then.
A friend of mine cut his plate down to only the numbers being visible and zap straps it his lower grill. Seems to work as he never had an issue either despite cutting his plate up lol
As for what I bought at Can Tire, just some carpet cleaner and detail wipes

I don't get why people don't just mount their plates properly. We live somewhere that requires them. Why risk the hassle. Time/money is too valuable.

See if anyone knows where this road is. This is the best picture of it from Google images before it was finished.
