Make sure you're at a triple or quadruple lure when you drop it, because every thing you do is doubled for XP

200xp for catching a pokemon you already own
1200xp for catching a brand new pokemon you don't own
100xp for each pokestop you spin
1000xp for evolving pokemon

That's why Pidgey's are so damn useful in leveling up, because it only takes 12 Pidgey candies to give you 1000xp with a lucky egg. I'd find a spot that has a trip/quad lure that also has a lot of other pokestops within close walking distance so you can maximize the XP gained from constantly walking around and hitting pokestops and catching pokemon. I didn't use my first lucky egg until I had about 22 pokemon ready to evolve.

That's the other way of doing it, but most people don't wanna wait to have 60 pokemon to evolve. It takes like 20-30 seconds for each evolution from clicking the button to when the entire slow ass animation ends.

You need to transfer to get more candies anyway. The calculator said you can evolve 60 in like 30 minutes. So 60*12 candies per evolve. 720 candies to evolve 60 pidgeys for 60,000 XP. Someone else can do the exact math but its something like this.

Evolve Pidgeys along with Weedles and Caterpies all 3 only take 12 candy to evolve most common/easy to catch. Save the Eevee's as they each take 25 candies. Same EXP with lucky egg 1000 per evolution.

Yea I'm saying since lucky egg is only 30 min its better to prioritize the 3 12 candy evolutions ahead of the 25 one. I've done 62 Pidgey evolutions in an 30 min, had to do it on WIFI no lures no incense no catching just straight evolving.

I think it registers you shuffling, and that slowly adds up. Not 100% on that, but seen a video where someone taped it to their ceiling fan and it slowly adds up your distance.

You get a small amount of satellite drift as they move overhead and adjust to your position. This is why your avatar moves. It will not detect any actual movement under 3m. If you ever geocached you would understand lol

One way I "cheat" is to just load up Pokemon and throw my phone in my cup holder and have it pick up some distance whenever I'm driving. It doesn't register all of it because you're going way too fast for a normal walking pace, but it still picks up some.

I think I have the previous version one. It's a little on the thick side, but it can fully charge most smartphones ~3x. It really depends on you and your use. If you're only going to use it to charge your phone when you're catching Pokemon, then a smaller lipstick style one that can charge your phone once is more than enough.

The latest update prompted a pretty big community backlash.

First they hid the footsteps thing instead of fixing the feature. Next, Pokevision and similar sites/apps have been offline.

I've heard that Niantic is horrible at PR from it's Ingress days and it's starting to look that way. Their boss' twitter was hacked. Reddit and other communities are organizing refunds via Play and Apple stores. At the same time people are starting to get bored of the game because there isn't a lot to do except for grinding. Gym pokemon are well ahead of a casual player or someone who started late that it's impossible to catch up. With a lack of features and nerfed tracking... what a mess.

For me when I go pokemon hunting I always have pokevision up so I check if there are any rare nearby. If a rare happens to spwan close I will go there.

Now with pokevision offline and the in game tracking pokemon not working I don't see the point of actually going on hours and hours of Pokemon hunting and hoping for something good. Also the tracker doesn't even work. Both my phone and my co workers' phone will show different Pokemon around us. like WTF we were standing right next to each other. So instead of actually improving the tracking in game, Niantic decided to just disable the function and have all 3rd party tracking apps/website shut down as well.

I am not going ask for a refund but I won't be spending more money on lures till they actually fix the tracking.

I would have been ok if the tracking systems works in game. First they release the 3 steps to show how far Pokemons are from you, it was bugged and cause a lot of issue for their servers. Then they update it so all Pokemons are showing at max distance. Latest updated they even remove it.

Think of it like this you are a tourist visiting Vancouver, when you ask/look at the map for suspension bridge, instead of pointing you where it is, the map only shows you 300m within the suspension bridge and you have to look for yourself. Yea kinda of crappy.

I am perfectly happy if they can show me the pokemons I want to catch within 50m to 100m radius. Their own tracking system isn't working because it cause too much server issue, then they request all other site/apps that tracks Pokemon to stop because it is sending too much request to their services causing. So instead of fixing their own servers they decided to not fix it but just outright block any tracking.

If you think of the demand on the servers to have every single person who's playing sending a gps signal to the server. It has to ping the nearby pokemon, calculate the relative distance to you, then adjust the footprints to show how far away you are. You walk a bit and it has to do that all over again, for millions of players at a time. I can see how it would be a huge drain on the system.

You can't go based on the min, avg, and max. You need to power them up to refine the result until you get like 1-3 results left. Make sure you look at their attacks as well. No point having a 100% IV pokemon if their attacks are weak af

The trend will probably pick back up once the tracker is fixed. It's kind of pointless to sit at the lures to only farm pidgeys all day with no idea at all if a Dragonite is 20 steps away. It depends on your goal, but what you said is correct. So a pokemon with perfect IV is 15attack/15def/15stamina.

Snorlax BASE 0% IV so 0/0/0
180atk/180def/320stamina

Snorlax 100% IV 15/15/15
195atk/195def/335stamina

The difference between two level 30 pokemon 0% vs 100% IV(the max level a pokemon can go right now) won't make a huge difference the way the battle system is right now, unless it get changed drastically. Good dodging will make up for a lower IV %. What is very important right now is the pokemon move set.

100% IV Dragonite with steel wing and hyper beam will lose to a 60% IV Dragonite with Dragon Breathe and Dragon Claw.

You can use PokéAdvisor (http://www.Pokeadvisor.com) and it'll tell you a pretty accurate IV % for ALL your pokemon so you can see which one to keep and such. Keep in mind it's more rare for the 3 starter pokemon to have a high IV % (80%+ is consider rare) and almost impossible to find a Charizard , Blastoise or Venasaur with 60%+. You have a better chance finding a 100% IV perfect move set Dragonite then a 80%+ Blastoise. IV % will carry over with evolution.

Pokemon from hatched eggs also have a better chance at a higher IV % then Pokemon's caught in the wild.

People here still paying? Just curious what you're goals are? I'm focusing not so much on catching them all but rather getting the strongest Pokemon with high IVs and ideal movesets. Niantic had indicated the game is only at 10% of what they had in mind so rather than power leveling the gf and I are just enjoying the process and collecting the strong Pokemon which hopefully becomes useful somewhere down the line when gym battles change.

Most proud of these babies. Eeveelution trick worked on my 100% vaporeon for the second time. Maybe it's luck since there's a 1/3 chance of getting it but still.

For example, a Level 3 gym lets your colour team put in 3 Pokemon to defend it.
A level 10 gym lets you put in 10 pokemon.

In your case, it must have been a level 2 gym.

IMO keep all your high IV% and evolve the highest IV%. if you get shitty moves, start farming more karps. you might end up with an even higher IV then any of your current prospect of karps.

That 10% between IV can matter a little to alot; depending on what the max IV is.

IMO keep all your high IV% and evolve the highest IV%. if you get shitty moves, start farming more karps. you might end up with an even higher IV then any of your current prospect of karps.

That 10% between IV can matter a little to alot; depending on what the max IV is.

stock up on as many pidgeys and weedles as you can possibly have

when you have enough candies and pokemon to evolve 60 of them in a row then that's when you drop your lucky egg and just evolve those 60 for the next 30 minutes. it takes roughly 30 seconds from the start of the evolution to when you can start the next one

I decided to pop an incense and walk around my neighbourhood and only 10 common Pokemon showed up and I caught only 7 out of the 10.. Wtf I thought Pokemon were supposed to spawn more

I believe every 200m travelled one will spawn when you have incense on or if standing still every 5 minutes

I noticed the same thing.
I had 2 Karps from eggs that were both 80-86% IV's but I caught a karp that is 91% IV.
