i'd be hesitant taking an e36/e46 out in this weather if your subframe mounts aren't reinforced. Cold weather + pressure against those mounting points = ?????

The subframe is stressed when you apply hard acceleration when grip is plentiful. The driveshaft rotates and twists the LSD which transfers energy into the wheels and rear axel carrier panel. When there is little traction, little stress should be placed on the subframe mounts. Just make sure your bushings are healthy so they can evenly take the pressure.

I've ordered a fix from Sweden which'll put a steel bar under the trunk panel and directly connected to the subframe which'll evenly distribute energy throughout instead of just the mounting points. Laser cutting and welding to create the final product is happening now. [emoji1417][emoji1417]

Someone on my block has the stunning launch edition M6GC, it's beyond gorgeous. Not many BMWs are "rare" nowadays but I would consider the M6GC pretty rare.

E36 m3 had reinforced subframe from the factory. Just another reason to e36. Subframe issues aren't a thing with these cars unless they are seriously getting hammered on track with major power and grip boosts.

Out of curiosity, what is the price difference between the 580-2 Huracan and a fully loaded R8 V10Plus?

Out of curiosity, what is the price difference between the 580-2 Huracan and a fully loaded R8 V10Plus?

The base 580-2 is $219k + $15k air freight.

If you want to compare the 580-2 with the same options that come with the V10+ base like the rear view camera, park sensors, navigation, bluetooth & lift system you're looking at an additional $13k. If you want CCB's that's an additional $17,500, standard on the V10+.

Wow there's barely a price difference. You must have to really like Audi design and quattro to not choose a Huracan instead.

The V10+ has more HP at 610hp, is AWD, and is around 0-60 in 2.5 or 2.6 seconds.

The 580-2 is 3.2 to 3.4 seconds and RWD and is 580hp.

Performance wise, the V10+ is the better car.

IMHO, VAG did a good job in positioning the V10+ and 580-2 in terms of pricing.

I had the chance to take the V10+ for a 3 lap track day about 5 months ago.

It's a teutonic beast, minimalist styling (per Audi) yet docile when required. There is no doubt it can be daily driven. And....... it's blistering fast.

The two cars sound more or less the same to me, perhaps more crackles on the Huracan if you run it in corsa

The styling of the new R8 just doesn't do it for me. The grille below the headlights is just so poorly executed and the front clip doesn't feel cohesive to me.
http://media.caranddriver.com/images/15q4/662479/2016-audi-r8-v10-plus-euro-spec-test-review-car-and-driver-photo-663404-s-429x262.jpg

Despite being a Lamborghini, the Huracan's styling is very simple and the vents are subtle. The 610's front bumper is nicer but both 580 and 610 look good from any angle for me. I think the simple styling is going to last a long time to come as well.

Performance-wise, typical buyers of either car aren't out to set any track day records but the AWD makes sense for the douchebag that wants to just floor it from stop light to stop light

The thing is the pricing for the 580-2 is deceiving because on paper it looks like a killer price point but by the time you add the basic options, pay for the air freight the car is nearing $250k and this doesn't include upgraded wheels, CCB's, interior packages, driving dynamic packages, etc...

The R8 V10+ is the best bang for your buck supercar because you can get $10k-$15k off the sticker but because of that the new R8 will have rapid deprecation.

Hehe
12-11-2016, 07:57 PM
Is that air freight required? Sorry for the nub question.

I don't recall it being mentioned by the sales when I went to inquire an LP700-4, although it might have something to do as I (well, not for me, but for a family member) was shopping for a car very soon and we were discussing mostly about cars in their inventories.

And I agree the R8 V10 is the best supercar for DD. Lambo's options are fucking crazy.

Harvey Specter
12-11-2016, 09:09 PM
Yes, Lambo only air freights their cars to Canada and I believe the US. All NA Ferrari's are shipped to NJ and then put on trains. Ferrari offers air freight but it's $26k.

In a sea of boring homogeneity among crossovers these days, the RX350 F-Sport is like a breath of courageous fresh air. My neighbour has one and I cannot get enough its styling both inside and out.

And I understand and respect the hate Lexus is getting for their new styling direction, it's very polarizing that's for sure. You either love it or hate it.

I agree. Speaking with other car guys, the response is usually they love it or hate it. They are particularly talking about its bold front end. However, I have a feeling it will eventually 'grow' on them. Overall the design is nice, they had no other complaints. The interior was what really sold me the car.

Driving is what you'd experience from any toyota/lexus SUV. The sport modes gives it some kick around town all while using regular gas! So far I'm very pleased with it.

Two days before I was supposed to pick up the owner took it in for oil change and CEL came one, car tossed code for throttle actuator and idle control device, dealer gave him a quote for 6K to fix. Seller asked me if I would split the repairs, I agreed to pay an additional 2000$ to have all the issues fixed by the dealer. So now I will be paying a bit more but the car will come with two fresh throttle actuators and a new idle control device. The work will be performed at BJ on the 21st and I will be picking up on the 22nd... perfect timing as that is the day my wheels/coils are slated to arrive

Should have left the greenwalls on :lol
Working on refinishing the wheels I am going to use for Fall and Winter, they were pretty faded and had lots of chips in them. My first time trying to refinish a set myself but they turned out alright, I probably should of done a little more prep work and wet-sanding in between coats. They will be good enough for a set of winters though.

Thanks man! Ya it has Bilstein PSS9's and some other goodies, my favorite being the LSD. The gearing is really short because he used one from a 6spd (I believe a 3.91) which is why the big wheels work. However, I hate how they look so now I'm just going to put something else on with huge sidewalls. :D

Probably do a little fixing up of the small stuff, get it just right and sell it.... because I have a problem.

The LSD in the snow makes for super easy tail control with a good sense of weight balancing. I can get the butt out at a good angle within a few feet of starting if I want and walk it that way. Love having an LSD!!

stock 1.8 motor or 6 cyclinders?

Its the stock 4cyl. Don't get me wrong, its slow... but the short gearing makes it feel a lot faster (I'm sure its quicker on the stopwatch too). Really fun driving experience because of the short wheel base, high revs, good steering rack, and overall lightness.

WS80 much grab the snow pretty good! My LM60 are mostly good until it gets heavy wet and sloppy. Then I just need to strategize myself on inclines or if I'm "snowmobiling" my car on top of all that muck at higher speed. M track mode on so I can keep moving forward/sideways in the heavy snow. LOL

^ I have a good feeling that the part that's slowing you down is clearance? Your car is starting to float on top of the slippery snow rather than the tires being able to have enough traction to propel you forward.

Ice is ice though. If you're on that it doesn't matter anymore unless you have studs, chains, or other traction aids.

Hey that's my old car, I built it and it's been sold a couple times since - I hear it wasn't very well taken care of.

It's an E30 lsd, I forgot the ratio, maybe 3.91?

No way!! Thats so cool! The last owner seemed to care for it fairly well fixing up little bits here and there, even doing the engine mounts etc...

I'm really enjoying it, even if little things have been failing here and there since the purchase, but I'm planning on getting her back up to glory.

The short ratio makes the car much more fun, however, on the highway it can be a bit draining.. I applaud your build, really enjoying it.

Time to clean and dry her up real good for the big freeze! My buddy who owns Glossworks came to hangout and help me winter clean properly with my own bucket, mitt, soap, and waffle dry cloth.

Jesus, need more pics and details of this e34 m5. i dont even care if im bumping an old 2016 thread.

I know I should post this in a different thread, but because you asked…

It’s a 2nd owner 91 M5 that I’ve owned for the past 14 years. It’s a high mileage car but was well looked after by the previous owner.

Here’s a picture of it before I made any major updates to it.

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b375/chunkster8691/M51024x680Final.jpg (http://s23.photobucket.com/user/chunkster8691/media/M51024x680Final.jpg.html)

Started the upgrades back in 2009 when the engine went kaput.

Ouch!

The engine rebuild (thanks to Farrell and Miller Performance for the rebuild!):

JE Pistons and IE H-beam rods:

Ceramic coated the stock headers:

Schrick cams (280’s):

Bored and stroked to just under 4.0 litres.

Here’s the engine after the rebuild:

Results with factory exhaust comparing stock vs rebuild:
