Yes. Team USA must declare that another d-man besides Charlie McAvoy cannot play due "illness or injury before Hughes can practice with the team and play against Canada on Thursday.

Lankinen's contract is what will now be considered 1B money. I think we still need a main guy (Demko etc) but this stabilizes goaltending to a higher degree than having an AHL guy (Spencer Martin for example) as your backup.

It really seems like Demko will never be healthy enough to last a full season and also be ready come playoff time. Need to offset the load or simply move on from his contract after 2026.

Wasted a great goaltending performance by Lank... but I have to say the Canucks really bore down and tried super hard in the 3rd period, doubled their shot total in that period alone when Vegas was trying to shut them down. Two disallowed goals didn't help things either. Just didn't have that sharp shooter at key moments like Petey used to be. So many long looks from the top of the slot where someone should be picking a corner and it's always high and wide. Hronek particularly frustrated me... passing off when he should be shooting, shooting when there's no lane or shooting but it doesn't hit the net.

Not hitting the net mystifies me so much at this level.

You can't know for sure but there were other factors - his small physical size, not a physical or feisty player (related to size but not necessarily, look at Garland), style of play, Canucks prob know Petey's work ethics. Surely a seasoned GM can't base everything on pts alone.

Canucks should win this game. They had a 3 day break since playing sat vs Seattle. While the Ducks spanked the Oilers yesterday 6-2.

The team is getting shots in goal and moving the puck quickly in their breakouts. The extra practice time in the past three days is helping the team.

They are getting the Sharks 3rd and its a great move, they are freeing up that cap space and with D-Petey playing so well he's no longer needed. Willander will also have the chance to sign soon as well which is huge.
