Beginner drifter + $20,000 car = wasted money.
I don't recommend an FD to anyone unless they're making over $13/hour full time and live at home, or making much more if they're moved out. And you need job security, because that loans going to be around for a while.
Maybe you should talk to Uncle Ben about all this.

Thats absolutely fucking stupidly shocking. Lets take a fast car that looks good, do a ton of work to it so that I can LOWER the HP of the car by about 100 and kill TQ output. Schweeeettt.....there's my next project.

2nd gen subframe is in! Got most of the welding done and now all I need to do is fab up the steering column, convert the power rack to manual, get the wheel adaptors for the rear, get some brake lines, make the swab-bar to frame mounts and she'll be ready to go. I'm aiming to have it done by December so I can concentrate on the EFI over Christmas.

P.S. Anyone got some GXL rims they'd like to get rid of? I will trade some nice looking rims off of a MX-6 or cash.

Its official, checked Tanabe website and yes they do make springs now for the FC. New product they just put on the market. So those will probably be the spring of choice. 20-30% stiffer and 1.5"drop front/back. Just gotta get some bling together and its go time.

It almost looks like FCs came with two different subframes to match two slightly different frame rail designs. Mine sits exactly 1 inch lower at the rear than the front when bolted in by the front mounts. I just welded a piece of C-channel with the "open" side up and used that for a mount instead of drilling through the frame. Although I know it would be stronger to drill through the frame and use the C-channel for a spacer I've decided to give this a try for the time being. The way I lookat it is the front mount does about 80-90% of the work and mazda only used a 10mm bolt so it can't be that much stress. That and if one of the rear mounts I've made gives out (Maybe if I take up dirt jumping the bloody thing) then the others will definately hold me until I can get to a welder. If that happens I will drill through the frame as in the tutorial. The subframe I used was from an S4 so maybe the S5 is different, it was an '86 GXL.

Well it looks like project "insane ITB EFI" may have to be postponed and altered into project "streetable TBI EFI". This motorcycle throttle body set-up is gonna take a lot of work along with building an intake manifold from scratch. So I'm thinking of adapting either a 2BBL GM TBI set-up onto my weber manifold or buying a holley manifold and adapting a 4BBL GM TBI set-up to that. The other advantage is that it will run much lower fuel pressure and so I don't need to invest in a huge honking pump right off the bat, or do any mods to my fuel tank. So if anyone knows where a 12A holley manifold can be found locally I'm all ears.

Do you think he'd sell? Would he let go just the manifold? It would be good times, then all I'd need would be a simple adaptor which I believe can be found at lordco for the 2BBL GM TBI set-up. Or I suppose I could find a holley TBI and it would bolt right up.

I've got some pictures of someone working on adapting a motorcycle intake setup to an Rx-7 at home Grant. By memory it had mesurements on the pictures, and an explanation of where to shorten the intake to adapt to a standard intake. I'll have a dig around for it when I get home.

I've seen pictures of a motorcycle set-up too it's just that I think it might be a little too extreme for my application, at least for the time being. It's on the back burner, but it ain't off the stove yet Also a blowthrow supercharger set-up really doesn't work very well appearently, so if I want to boost the way I'm thinking I'll have to build a plenum and TB set-up anyway. So maybe investing all the time in an ITB set-up will be time wasted towards my final goal. If I was going turbo or permanently NA then I'd do the ITB, but I kinda like positive displacement superchargers

P.S. Wow that was a ramble and a half.

I think I've decided against the holley set-up because most of the TBI adaptors only allow air to enter the secondary ports, which would just destroy the flow of it. I think I'm gonna adapt 2 1BBL TBI units onto my existing weber manifold and call it done for the time being. Also I think it'll be easier to move onto the supercharger project if I use this manifold as the base for my later design. So if anyone needs any motorcycle throttlebodies for their collection lemme know.

Grant | You have some great ideas and scheme's Grant, but you must be one of the most indecisive Rx7 owners i've seen.
Would still like to see how nicely (whatever your project becomes), hauls ass.
