okay I'm seriously thinking that after I've got my EFI sorted out and get the car running well I may very well do this: http://www.etischer.com/
I may be ill however, I certainly would need a permanent daily driver for the winter if I did this, still it would be wicked fast especially if I got a GSL-SE rear-end narrowed and then put in. The whole project would probably require about $5000-7000 including a Midget shell (I'd just get a shell with running gear because it would be totally stripped).
I think I'd also need to totally rebuild all of the suspention and brakes on the poor little MG, but DAMN would it be fast. Could you imagine a 150 RWHP car that weighs like 1200 LBS, COULD YOU! I mean FUCK! It would be well past excessive. If you could get the gearing sorted out you'd be looking at a 0-60 in the 5 second range, and get like 30mpg on the highway. With a car that light you could run crazy high gears. Anyway just thought I'd share a little part of my insanity.
Grant
P.S. Of course I'd have to turbo it once I got used to the power

speaking of this i have a buddy whos uncle is building a datsun roadster fairlady into a 500 rwhp machine he is running a highly modified 300z tt engine with a 300z tt rear end and second gen rx7 front suspension and much much more he is also build a custom wide body kit due to the rear end being 6 inches to a foot wider but can u imagine the power to weight ratio on that thing it would be almost undrivable almost

After looking into the suspention on those Midgets I've decided the project really wouldn't be very safe, they've got some sort of screwed up leaf arrangement in the rear and the fronts are a levered type of deal. Moral of the story, it would work fine for a fun car with a stock 12A, but not a modified one. The Midget only had like 50HP out of the box so it gets sketchy when you triple that. On the other hand appearently you can get addaptors to mount a rotary in a Porsche 914 pretty easily, can anyone else say turbo 12A in a 1800 lb car.

Grant | There are a lot of full race midgets, many sporting V8s. I'm sure if you take a look around you can see what they're doing for suspension.
I have looked into doing a 914, they are unstoppable at autocross, there is no better car. Tiny, lightweight, mid engined, rwd, 911 suspension components drop right in. Swaps are extremely easy, the adapters to bolt it to the stock tranny are from Kennedy Engineering.
The side step tranny from the later/slightly bigger engined 914s must be used if you want to make any power, they'll handle up to around 300ft-lbs I think.
Here's a page detailing a 13B swap into a 914: http://web2.airmail.net/atl/Rotary.html
And Nashman, 12as are a great cheap engine that's easy to swap since it's carbed. Also, can make some great power with a nice, linear powerband with some porting. My 1st gen had around 170WHP with a monster streetport and a Holley 4 barrel, also a few other upgrades. Also, you can always boost them, which is what rotaries are best at.
13Bs are better since there's a few more advances with them, and they can do anything a 12a can do, but sometimes better, but they're more expensive and mostly came EFI.
You don't need 500hp when your car weighs 1500lbs.

Besides once you dropped one those motors in you'd be adding enough weight to the front of the car that it would handle like shit! Weight-bias is much more critical then any of the people doing some of these swaps realizes.
On a side not I've pretty much decided against getting a different car a swaping, mine is just sooo awesome and I really like it as is.
That said I've decided to go a little more extreme on my EFI plans, although no turbo as of yet. Let's just say that I have plans to become one of the few people who own ITB cars in Victoria.

Just a question, has anybody ever done ITB's on a rotary before? How does it end up? Even better throttle response?
