Well cause my family isn't huge on the xmas thing, I decided to strip the rear sound deadening of the teg today. After lunch here I'll take the seats out and carpet then strip the rest. After that, maybe tomororw(prolly not) I'll remove the dash and strip the insualtion/deadening off the firewall and gut the dash. Realsitically only save 25 lbs in doing so.

^ I know the feeling. Hell I loved ripping out most of my interior just to vacuum it out and remove some useless wiring. All I really got out of it was the peace of mind that I didn't have a bunch of garbage wiring and stale fries in my car. But it was fun.

I didn't use any dry ice. with the -2 degree weather. it was more then cold enough. At first I used a screwdriver and a hammer and just kinda picked away and it came off in small peices. then I realzied that if I hammered the shit out of the entire area every inch or so then try to take it off, it would almost come off in a full sheet. my largest piece came out in 12"x6" slab. Doing the entire back half only took me about an hour. and that was with messing around and taking out my jungle gym of bars to get in there. And yes I know what you mean. Everytime I do even the smallest things, I get stoaked and get all into it again lol. My plan is to drop 200lbs in total for spring. so I have a decent sized list of stuff I need to do, and parts I need to buy

Just to list a few:

CF seats w/ aluminum solid mount rails
CF sunroof cap
Aluminum exhaust
CF hood/hatch
FAL lexan rear window
Aluminum F7 lower control arms
And maybe diff suspension cause my Omni's are so fricken heavy it's ridiculous.

nope. oposite, less force resisting the car from accelerating means the tires will have a better chance of hooking up. that only works to a certain point tho, and then physics pwns you

Lighter is faster

I have about 90% of the sound deadening tar done now and it's so far 13.6lbs. The rest will make it to 15lbs I'm sure. Then to the dash insulation which is huge, shuld be minimal 10lbs there, then whatever else I can gut out of the dash.

Edit: I pulled the insulation off the underside of the floor mat as well and that was a whole 2 lbs! Pulled a few of my brace bars too and that was 6 lbs, prlly going to keep a few in.

Some of you may think this is a waste of time, and yes, this will now be oone noisey econobox. But, it's at the point where every pound counts, and I need to focus on weight as much as I focus on power now. My new front wheels are 5lbs lighter per wheel as well, so there is another 10 lbs.

Installed power door locks in the Big Dog in preperation for an alarm...

Also got rid of some excess wires and taped up the new wires to make them look pretty...also shorted out some brown wire that wasn't attatched to anything, and now my under dash light and my horn work...weird

Oh, and I think my optima yellow top is dead

Somewhere between everything. Vehicles with 300,xxxkm on them, rockfords on dry pavement, hard shifting... everything. Its not that I drive abusive, but its turned into a driving style. This tranny wasnt from abuse. Its been well cared for; never grinded or anything before. It just let go one evening at work. I dont really care... if its gonna happen, nice that it happened still in town and not out in AB. Newer technology is my friend; but older vehicles are cheaper to find parts for.
