I sold CUU and bought AVR

IMO, AVR has a higher chance doubling vs. CUU...
At this moment I'd rather invest in a growing producer than a spec play...
It really hurt though =(

^ There's a lot of people on SH that are still buying more shares at this point.. their rationale is that they are still purchasing the stock at a much cheaper price than the insiders were just several weeks ago (with a lot less information).. some logic to that I guess :suspicious:

as for me... :heckno:
I'd be waiting for the next small surge to recoup whatever I can and start up from a loss... I'm just glad I took the loss back in the 1.4x region

blkgsr 09-29-2011 02:54 PM

ya i guess i'm in for the long haul....

aab 09-29-2011 02:58 PM

Is there any good website for learning the stock market?

Either spray and pray and stay in long-term for a bounce back if you're confident in this company. If not, liquify and use your bullets to start shorting something. In the markets todays, you could probably just point at any stock, short it and probably make some money out of it. I wanted to short YLO.TO when it fell off its support lines around the 70 cents range, but of course easier said than done.

blkgsr 09-30-2011 06:44 AM

i'm just stunned right now...not sure wtf to do

at this point i'm now seeing major losses in a stock that at one point took like 15 years off my mortgage lol

lesson learned big time on this one, take profits, take profits, take profits

Slifer 09-30-2011 06:51 AM

^Wow I feel you bro..looks like you invested very heavily in CUU

SiRV 09-30-2011 06:58 AM

Anvil Mining Limited: TSE:AVM quotes & news - Google Finance

AVM spiked up 30% after a $1.4 billion acquisition by some Chinese company... I don't think CUU will do 100% after aquisition by Teck... just my opinion

I really need to say this again and again. There's so much bad advice being given in this thread. Really just trust yourself, and if you're not comfortable doing it, then don't.

Don't give in to people hyping things up and people that think they know it all. I'm talking about you lime56, almost every post you make is like from the retard olympics.

Anyways, always take everything you read in this thread with a grain of salt, and make sure to figure out what you're willing to lose.

I think posting up negatives is still helpful to other members who are trying to learn.

Spoon 09-30-2011 01:47 PM

Returns mean nothing if your risk appetite is not the same. Case in point, CUU probably made some people here a small fortune. Some unfortunately not. I on the other hand would not even be able to stomache the volatility to even touch this stock.

What do you guys think on dividend stocks, like DFN.TO? It holds a lot of financials and dividends seem attractive. Doubt there will be capital gain but holding it just for the dividends seem like to a good idea. Well, I hold a couple grand in that stock so I sure hope it's a good idea. haha

PornMaster 09-30-2011 05:18 PM

what brokers do you guys use?
cheapest $ per trade?

q0192837465 09-30-2011 08:56 PM

I use Questrade, it's actually not that good, but I use it just cuz its cheap. If u'r a day-trader and like to "time" the market, I don't think it's for u. If you just want to buy & forget, then it'll probably do.

PornMaster 09-30-2011 09:16 PM

I have a good plan going in but hard finding a broker..
Not going to be holding any position for more than a day so I will be doing easily 10+ trades a day

Stormspirit 09-30-2011 09:53 PM

Wahhh CUU Ho Seung ah =[

If I use flat rate that will rape my profits.

IB is good, very very low $ per trade.

i find that most people use questrade because it allows you to use your TFSA contributions. i love TFSA.
