Can somebody give me a quick summary how FAZ works? Basically if financial shares goes up, FAZ goes down and vice-versa? So basically buying FAZ you're banking (pun intended) that financial shares will go down? How does that make the price of the stock go up though?

FAZ and FAS are ETFs (3x bear/bull exchange traded funds respectively) their goal is mirror the movement of the banking sector by 3x

Would not recommend beginners/those who can't monitor the price action/news playing them, you're gonna blow your account.

AAPL misses, hope somebody got those weekly puts as a lotto/hedge

strykn 10-18-2011 12:49 PM

what the fuck is this bullshit, france refuts the 2t fund? after bunch of news sources report it for a ramp up in the market.... this market is fucking RETARDED

Jermyzy 10-18-2011 12:51 PM

Darn...thought AAPL would continue up. Is this the first time they've missed in the last few years? :p
Not sure if I should add more AAPL to portfolio on the dip? Or has their run of blowing up estimates finished? Iphone4s should help their Q1 results?

lime56 10-18-2011 02:04 PM

it might. short entry here maybe?

fuck. i had nflx puts yesterday. lost and the trade went my way today. i never time rimm or nflx right

Tempted to buy some apple if it drops below $370 tomorrow.

They have like 81 or 87 dollars of cash per share.

4444 10-18-2011 07:41 PM

i'd be buying more AAPL on any serious pull back - mind you, any $30 or so pull back just erases some of the recent run ups - AAPL is still a killer of a company, great valuation, when i saw the miss, i wasn't shocked, surprised, disappointed, expectations are so high, iphone4 didn't sell as much as last q, no surprise (brand new vs. older) - 4S has just come out, so q4 will be good

god bless AAPL!

Jermyzy 10-18-2011 08:23 PM

^Let's see where it's at tomorrow, if it dips to $370-380 I will pick some more up. I'm a little cautious that samsung/google are starting to eat up market share. But maybe a good sign that for once their internal guidance is higher than analyst expectations - show of confidence?

no_clue 10-18-2011 08:27 PM

I dont think it'll dip to $370-380. I think it might gain back its losses like the time they introduced the iPhone 4S. I am going to buy some tommorow. Macbook line is due for a change and once iPhone 5 comes out...
I think strong earning potential till Q2 2012. I noticed that the iPod dropped 27% in sales though, due to people using iphone for everything I guess?

I'm seeing more and more androids pop up in class... but at the same time I'm also seeing a lot more MBP's pop up to replace other laptops (dell/asus etc.).

I don't think 4S will really change the game much considering it wasn't really the IP5 people were expecting. AAPL may have lost a few subscribers to the android market.

Could be the start of the end for aapl ? ='(

no_clue 10-18-2011 08:48 PM

^ more androids pop up due to the price being cheaper and more variability in handset selection than an iphone. Im not sure about androids but for iPhones when you sign a 3-year contract it must have a fairly expensive data plan. People buy 4S due to siri and faster speed, or replace their 3G/3Gs. You can use the same argument why people upgraded from galaxy to galaxy 2.

I am still bullish on their macbooks. I bought my macbook pro in 2008 and it has never died or crashed. Very satisfied. Noting the rising sales, im not the only one :)
Things I am worried about is what happens after the Iphone5? No more Steve Jobs to pitch new ideas...

Off topic
Blackberry BBX? lol
the euro-zone meeting on the 23rd......
the bakken shale, some companies to look into as they raise production. KOG, HAL?

Pull up a monthly chart and see the trend for yourself. Not too many people made big money (I am not talking about day trader but people like Buffett) on the short side against Apple.
