Funny how I see nothing in this thread about AC-A/B (Air Canada) shares. Profit sharing through the company has been ridiculous profitable for me. I don't think it will stay, but I really wish I had invested at 87 cents like I had wanted too.

Yeah, airlines are making record profits with fuel prices at what they are.

yeah I believe you have to go in. They want to make sure clients fund their accounts and not just open it and leave it dormant for years. Book an appt it only takes like 20mins. If you go apply in person you get your account number right away so you can start trading same day.

I'm into the U boat. It's the perfect retail play, they control the whole chain so you have vertical integration and their products cater to a subset of the population that is not price sensitive. People keep blaming Chip Wilson for his views yet if you have followed the guy since the beginning you will know he has always had strong opinions. I see more penetration of their product in the East Coast and they still have overseas and the male population to grow. It would be great to see their products on pro athletes - they're starting to sponsor marathons.

Would I buy lululemon clothing? Nope. I'm far too price sensitive.

They didn't ask me many questions, though I did have to blow the bank manager.

valuation is insane from a value perspective but view it from a guy's perspective - Girls go nuts for U irrespective of price. It's a luxury brand worn by a ton of celebrities and girls with fit bodies. Outside of this class, we have people that aspire to be seen in the same light - fit, so it makes the perfect case that the company is geared for growth.

I'm only buying lulu to diversify out of mining.

check our KORS if you're looking into fashion/luxury apparel tickers, great case study of a company exploiting its name as a major fashion house without diluting its brand.

Ever since I go in a bit over a year ago it's been exploding internationally in terms of sales growth and store openings. product line is super diversified with clothes, watches + jewelry, handbags and other leather goods. I know Lululemon is touted as a lifestyle brand, but it has nothing on Michael Kors in terms of reputation as a leading fashion house that really does sell a lifestyle - yes they're kinda different but brands like Lulu are sometimes limited by their niche. They sell waterbottles and yoga mats...but nothing really substantial like shoes, jewelry, etc. Another similar ticker would be COH, which was it's main competitor (in the stock market anyway) that almost does the same thing in terms of product line but falls way short in sales growth - probably because it seems to have lost its 'cool' factor these days.

In addition to it's ability to continually pump out solid earnings reports and forecasts I could go on an on about why this has been one of my darling picks in my portfolio, and why i can see big things for it in the future. then again, the fashion industry and the its customer base are extremely 'moody' and brands can crumble over a season or two (gurls lol) so I regularly check in with the gf who stays pretty current with this stuff. Could be a bit tippy now but it's worth keeping on your watch list if you're looking at other ways to diversify.

imo diversification is for people who don't know what they are doing. aren't you diversifying your returns at the same time? i think it explains why many fund managers underperform the indexes. one of the advantage of investing on your own is the ability to make concentrated bets on a limited number of companies and that you truly believe will do well in any macro environment and willing to hold onto it as long as the original investment thesis is still intact and valuation still make sense.

I'm diversifying solely because I find it fun.

Most of my money is socked away into funds and my play money is in mining and vices. I've never owned a retailer before and it's slowly starting to dawn on me that the publicly traded companies in Vancouver (outside of the mining realm) do very well. I'm going to throw my money away anyway so I might as well throw it alongside companies which employ people I know.

Friday will certainly be interesting.

Tempted to make a small bet on it at $1.60 as it seems that all the negative news has already been priced into the stock.

The recent CEO resignation and FDA's typical unwillingness to change direction are holding me back though.

Kev

Edit: In at $1.68.

Amrn is up 20% pre market on big volume (for pm), so anyone who got in yesterday if you're just looking to make a quick 25% i hope you're awake for the open of trading!

News was that FDA is considering AMRN appeal of SPA and will rule on that Jan 15th, NDA PDUFA date is delayed until then with no confirmed new PDUFA date yet, could also be the 15th of Jan, likely shortly after though I would say.

Good news.

^ I'm awake and happy to see the news.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in price action. Realistically this should put the stock near pre-adcom levels but that seems like quite a mountain to overcome from $1.6x.

I'm expecting price action today in the $1.9-$2.2 range with a continuation on Monday to $2.40-$2.50 where it will be met with major resistance.

FDA's reconsidered viewpoint bodes well for some sort of conditional approval (I'm guessing warning label).

At this point the downside is limited and should an additional revenue stream open up the upside is huge.

Kev

So far it's holding at +25%, I expected it to fade a bit...

BBRY posts Q3 loss of 4.4B :s That's more than their 3.5B market cap lol

Sure they have 3.2B in Cash/equivalents but how is that going to look next quarter, or the one after that? etc.

I know my AMRN track record would suggest I probably shouldn't give any advice (I should get a break for getting long cocked by the FDA), but jesus, how can anyone justify owning BBRY?????? Feel bad for anyone who gets suckered into buying that garbage. You don't need to know anything about finances to know they are done, you just need to be a smartphone user to understand why BBRY is beat.

/end modest rant
