^^ Senna's not a big fan of digitally altered images. I wouldnt be surprised in the least if that photo is straight from the camera.

FishTaco 09-04-2006 06:27 PM

hehe that's a funky octopus.

Was trying to see how far I could push the old-school Nikon cam (D1H), these 2 shots were set to ISO 3200, 1/400s, and f2.8... and... boy it turned out ugly and I"ll never use ISO 3200 on that camera again... but at least I know where the limit is now.

and... 2.7MP is starting to show its age.

Now, having just switched to Canon, I have to admit that the high ISO performence is VERY impressive... hmm... perhaps I could get the department to switch over to Canon as well. heh.

Thanks. As Jomo wrote, I hate altering my images other than rotation, levels & some cropping. All of my images are full-frame or very close to being so. I may clone out stray hairs or a tree branch, but I try not to.

The shot(s) are straight out of the camera with some levels & rotation applied. I shot in manual mode, and the exposure was 15seconds, f8 @ 100 ISO. Three shots were stitched together using Canon Photostitch software.

so is this one. awesome shot! i love the accent of the fly, gives the picture a sense of "smell" imo. the visual stimulant almost makes me smell the odor of being around cows and the insects it brings. very nice!

Don't Pay it! Unless you want to live in that particular state in the future.

Years ago i was driving outside of Tacoma, and I got pulled over for doing the same speed as everyone else near me. The first words out of the State Troopers mouth were " We don' t drive like this down here in the USA. You can drive like that in 'Caaaanada' but not here."

You should have see the look on my face and how disturbed I was by this ignorant fuck. I had a little Civic hatchback full of people loaded with luggage. Hey 'Officer America', the car can't barely sustain the speed limit as it is! Fucker!

It was evident this prick was playing 'pick on a Canadian' that day. He proceeded and nailed me for speeding, tailgating and driving with undo care.
All of which were total bullshit.

Towards the end he had the nerve to tell me that since he's a nice guy he would only charge me with speeding and tailgating.

That was over 4 years ago, I received one phone call from the county court asking if I intend to pay. Of course I said yes then hung up. I received just one phone call from a Washington based collection agency 6 months later and told them to fuck off, and stop bothering my in my Country and reminded them it is against the law to harass people here. That was the end of it.

[azn angel] 09-05-2006 04:35 PM

interesting. since this situation, i've received two letters from collection agencies, both of which have gone unanswered and will continue to do so. the problem occurs if ever i am driving through that state and i get pulled over. i can be in big doo dooo. and to note, i drive there often.

Doc 09-05-2006 05:14 PM

I suggest you pay it off.
The collection agency will harrass you for several months, and subsequently put a warrant for your arrest. Meanwhile, the interest rate on the ticket will continue to rise. It's not something that will go away after x number of years. When you're 35, and decide to drive down, they'll arrest you and hit you with a $15k ticket.

I got a $180 ticket in WA a while back. At first I laughed it off. Then cursed at the collection agents. Then, when the warrant for my arrest showed up, I called up and paid the fine - by which point the fine had tripled.

PS: It's not just for getting pulled over. You won't be able to get past customs. They'll detain you at the border.

That is strange, because I inquired what would happen and they at the time they said that I lost my privaleges to drive in the state of Washington until I paid my debt to them and if i was pulled over they would impound my car and make me spend jail time. In washington they prefered jail time for past due vehicular offences. However, I got a letter from the state of washington stating that that whole driving privalege and jailtime thing was found unconstitutional and my privaleges have been reinstated. I just take this letter with me when i cross the border now.

One exposure. 30 seconds, f8, 100 ISO.

Gopher 09-06-2006 07:16 AM

Mingww, I really like that photo, very warm feeling to it. Almost dreamy, and without any blown highlights or blurring effects. Nice work.
