I made a light box today.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5283/...cc6b0710_z.jpg

Why does my image have these yellow pixels everywhere when I upload to flickr? The original photo as nothing. even after throwing it into Photoshop. What's the deal?

Boostslut 12-29-2010 08:48 PM

Moky, those shots of San Fran are really good! I like your first pano the best! Thanks for posting that! I love San Fran!

Euro, that lightbox looks great too! Nice shot! Really smooth light! Can you take a picture of the lightbox itself? The 300mm F4 is looking nice too! Any other lens to compare it to in relation to size?

moky 12-29-2010 09:02 PM

i have very good childhood memories of san francisco!

More great images Moky! I can remember taking pictures of that Cathedral myself! I'll have to dig them up somewhere!

Here is a Panorama of what i get to see every day when i work! Its amazing! Its a place called Half Moon Bay in Melbourne. It's very well hidden place, but so beautiful! I've only taken my camera there once so far, but the day after i saw a sunset even more amazing! Will post up more pics of the area later! Enjoy!

Thanks! I'll snap acouple photos for you. I only have one other lens which is my 18-200VR. The 300 is a beast compared to it in my opinion.

Here's mine for the day.

Yesterdays morning snow fall :)

I woke up, saw the snow out the window and said aaah screw it I got nothing to do today, went back to sleep for 30 seconds and said out loud.. PHOTO OP!!!!
My dog jumped up lol. He enjoyed the long walk from my house to the park :p

Boostslut 12-30-2010 11:46 AM

Nice! Landscape arch! Been there plenty of times when i was a kid and always wondered up to when it can withstand natural erosion

LiquidTurbo 12-30-2010 08:23 PM

Delicate arch ;).

Actually funny story, the original land surveyors mixed up Landscape and Delicate Arch on a map and it's stuck ever since.

moky 12-30-2010 08:53 PM

oh right! :D lol i always mix up those two!
but then again, if the original land surveyors mixed up landscape and delicate arch, then i would have been right in saying landscape arch lol j/k

i'm using some software called HDR EFEX and am giving it a try. it works as a plugin with Lightroom(and PS) and it can add some effects easily to your images. anybody try it before?

It looks ok but the skin tones are way too saturated.

i'm thinking that's the nature of the beast with high dynamic range effects. colours are so obviously not natural anymore. i can see it being used sparingly, but good to know how to use it. hey, i'm not a professional wedding photographer taking peoples money, haha! i think it makes fun pictures though, not everything can be artistic serious stuff.

seriously though, thanks for any and all criticisms, it's a great way to learn.

I have it and I haven't really used it at all, but clients who have bought it like it. I think your second pic looks good, but try desaturating the colours a bit.

N.V.M. 12-31-2010 06:30 PM

are you guys saying less is better? haha! ok, i'm attempting to desat to see where you guys think it would make a better pic. how about this?

edit: deleted

Senna4ever 12-31-2010 07:03 PM

Hmmm....the colours look a little strange..?

N.V.M. 12-31-2010 07:06 PM

it was only a test from an older image i had.

back to the rum, tomorrow is another day. anyone going to the Polar Bear?

GDChoi 01-01-2011 05:14 AM

Happy New Year to all, shall I start the new year with some pictures from West Point Grey?

C&C welcome :)

Senna4ever 01-01-2011 10:17 AM

Photos look a bit fuzzy...where these shot on a tripod? Also, try changing the white balance to tungsten.

ColinK 01-01-2011 12:15 PM

the sky in that first one is awesome, but the horizon is crooked :)

Soundy 01-01-2011 12:50 PM

I find horizons are tricky with these kinds of shots because of curving shorelines and such... it's easier to align things using a building's vertical lines.

GDChoi 01-01-2011 03:54 PM

thanks guys, the first one was shot on an uneven rock so it was really hard to find the leveled point
