Sound's like what happened to me, put the needle in, saw the doc come in and he had a funny surgical mask on and im like "Hey, nice mask, haha..ha..........ha.............zzzzzzz"

When I woke up it was already done, felt like I was sleeping for 50 years and didn't know where I was and what the fuck I was doing.

top 2 were out completely and my dentist just froze my gums and yanked both out takes less than a minute

about to get the bottom 2 out by a specialist... bugging the hell outta me, apparently they're growing sideways, food will get stuck inside and were only partially out so it's more difficult or something.. i asked to just get them done by freezing but he insist i get sedated as it's not as simple and may take longer.. and he says i gotta bring someone with me to get a ride home... feel like canceling the surgery now

not mine but this is wut my x-ray looked like for the bottom 2 as well

I'm 29 and need to have my top right wisdom tooth removed because it has a hole. It's fully erupted and doesn't give me any problems so the dentist told me to have it removed once it starts hurting. My bottoms never came out and don't need to be removed.

my bottom wisdoms where like that too growing in sideways
if you don't take them out they would push your other teeth and cause major problems

i think u need to get iv cuz they have to cut into your gums or break the tooth to get it out

i doubt that unless your dentist is extremely traditional...it's almost unethical to do that.

you are probably confusing iv sedation "putting to sleep" with local anesthetics "freezing".

iv sedation is generally used when all 4 are taken out...yes even if they are cutting your gums to pry it out freezing is adequate.

Yeah, I got confused. I'm getting local anaesthesia. Getting all four pulled out over 2 sessions 1 week apart. Is that a good idea?

I'm 33 and still have mine they grew in straight and even but my top ones have developed holes in the crowns. I should have them taken care of sooner then later but I cant stand paying some dude $1000 bucks an hour like these damn greedy dentists seem to charge.

Had all 4 of mine pulled years ago all at once.. Like someone else in the thread said, I was out by the time I counted to 4 lol

You'll feel a little dizzy/light headed once you wake up, I slept ALOT and was drugged up real good for about 3 or 4 days.

The good news is, you get to eat alot of ice cream and yogurt

like you said if it was taken out when you were in your late teen's early 20's it wouldve been easy...but now with all the roots already formed it's a lot more complicated to extract if that tooth is non-vital.

i dont get why people always point the finger at dentists for being greedy. trust me 1000 for pulling 4 teeth out is nothing compared to what dentists have to pay for their education and to buy a practice with absurd overheads. People pay lots of money to get lasik eye surgery yet no one complains about its cost.

If you're older, 20+, I would STRONGLY recommend you go to a specialist. It's worth the extra $$. I had mine done the beginning of Feb. All four out, cost $1600.

Sorry for the bump but I finally had one of my wisdom teeth knocked out because it cracked on Sunday due to decay. They had to shoot me up with Novocaine 4 times to make me numb, the overall process wasn't that bad. There was a lot of cracking and pulling and a chunk of my tooth fell down my throat and both the dentist and her assistant quickly advised me to cough up the piece, which I did lol.

It did take a few mins because basically the dentist had to break my tooth into pieces it was so decayed and wrench out my roots. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as the horror stories you read online, now the agony of not eating for a few days begins.

Had mine taken out when I was like 21 or so. Took 2 out the first time and got knocked out within seconds. Felt messed enough after that I would have not been able to drive for sure. Pain wise it wasn't too bad over the next week or so. Had to eat not so solid foods for a couple days but slowly was able to eat normally.

Went back a second time some months down the road to take out the last 2. Got knocked out again and felt messed after again. However, that's where the similarities end. There was no pain whatsoever and I was able to eat solid foods instantly. I remember I had a steak the same day and it was perfectly fine.

I was told my hole is pretty big so I need to take it easy for the next day or so. I feel a tingle right now but I think for the most part it shouldn't be too hard to handle. I'm glad that the rest of my wisdom teeth are fine because the last thing I want to do is have my lower wisdom teeth ripped out my jaw at my age.

I did mine by "sides". The ones of my right were taken out Early 2008. From what my dentist told me, the bottom tooth was extremely stubborn, warranting a "shatter and extract" method . The top one was fine.
The left side was taken out Mid 2009 (May I think), no problems - I actually still have both teeth in a little container sitting on my desk

I had all 4 taken out at once at age 21 at one of the oakridge medical offices. I was given the gas treatment. Counted to 10 and was knocked out. I woke up later in a dark room on a bed which was apparently the recovery room.
Ate nothing but soup, porridge and icecream for a week. Thankfully I was working at the gelato place below the office at the time. Unfortunately, edge of my mouth got a cut from the procedure so it was a pain.

Didn't get to see my teeth afterwards tho My brother got to keep his.
