I'm still a big fan of MGO.. that's all I've been playing recently.

MGO new expansion coming soon, around November 11th.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41133.html?type=mov

Also MGO World Championship was held yesterday in Japan TGS 2008.. the match was intense. The players got so many sick stuff and many celebs were there. I participated in the NA bracket, and made it into single bracket elimination but didn't get into 1st or 2nd place =( Only 1st and 2nd place teams gets to go to Japan with cash and go to japan for world final.

^ looks sick...i didn't know ppl on RS are on the competitive side of console gaming

I'm still on 1st level of MGS1 as we speak..still trying to adjust to the 1998 graphics Man, MGS1 graphics sucks compare to Half-Life and that came out in the same year.

Taking my time so it's gonna take me a while to finish the whole MGS series.

I'm kind of sad that MGO for MGS3 is offline now..i wanted to try that before experiencing Guns of Patriot's MGO.

MGO on MGS3 is essentially the same. in fact the earlier MGO was just a test to see how the MGS gameplay would work transitioning to online gaming..

surprisingly it work...... either love or hate it

i havent touch MGO since aug.. and when i tried it again once.. i was getting my ass handed down to me.. the skill level can really seperate you from the rest

but anyways, anyone getting Socom this week? im getting it just for the headset bundled with it.... never played the past Socom games but i heard its decent

but im seriously limiting the amount of games im buying this year.. just Socom and LBP.. and possibly Resistance.. anything else like FArcry2, Fallout 3, id just wait until next year.. ..

new PS3 firmware coming:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/...v250-psp-v500/

Quote:
Support for the PS3 Official Bluetooth Headset - we’ve told you about the upcoming Bluetooth Headset and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Bundle on the Blog. This latest firmware installment enables High-Quality (HQ) mode, which delivers clear and wide-band online voice chat. On top of that, an added on-screen indicator shows battery status, volume level and use of HQ mode.
PlayStation Trophies interface enhancements - I know that many of you are busy collecting trophies and raising your PlayStation Trophy level. This update makes sharing and comparing your trophies with your friends even easier. On 1st part of the profile page you’ll see a symbol under level that represents level and the actual percentage towards the next level along with the existing level meter. The level symbol carries over to the trophy comparison screen where you will now be able to see your level, your friend’s level and the percentage towards the next level for both users along with all of the game by game comparison information you see today.
Friend status – Offline friends on your Friends list will have information below their avatars that will indicate how long it has been since they were last online.
Video – This update adds the Scene Search feature similar to the feature on the PSP. Activating this feature while viewing a video on the PS3 will break the video up into scenes that you can quickly access by pressing the X button. You can break the videos into one, two or five minute intervals. In addition, you can now choose to have all of the videos under the video section of the XMB play in sequence. Go to Settings then Video Settings to turn this option on.
PlayStation Store – We’ve added a redeem codes option right on the store to make it easier to redeem your PlayStation Network Cards and promotion codes. In addition, PlayStation Network Sign Up and Account Management have been redesigned.
Power Save Settings – You can now set your PS3 and wireless controllers to turn off automatically after set periods of inactivity. Go to Settings then Power Save Settings to turn on these features.
Background Downloading - You now have the option to set the PS3 to turn off automatically after a background download or installation of content has completed. This option is available when you turn off the system from the button under [Users] while content is being downloaded or installed.
In-game Screenshots - this tool will allow everyone to capture, share and in other words, immortalize their favorite gameplay moments. This will be supported on a game by game basis. Please check back to find out which games will support this feature.
In addition to all of the features above there are some additional features and enhancements included in 2.50. Once the update launches, you can read all of the details here.
The support for the Bluetooth Headset will be of particular interest to all of you SOCOM fans. With the “Proximity Chat” feature, SOCOM: Confrontation gameplay is intensified as it allows you to experience high-quality voice playback in full surround sound. Whether the action is near or far, Proximity Chat clearly matches distance to sound effects and voiceovers within the game, putting you in the heart of the action.

so aside from lbp and socom, resistance 2, are there any other big hitters for PS3 this fall?

none of those 3 games really interest me. Last year we had call of duty 4 which was awesome....

Resistance 2 would have actually gotten bigger coverage and attention as its a sequel to PS3 successful launch first gen games..

but with LBP literally overshadowing and drawing the attention away from R2

Socom, LBP and R2 are all first party titles exlusively to the ps3

the only thing they competing against is GoW2 which is exclusive to the 360

Fallout 3, Farcry 2 and CoD World at War are multiplatforms

2008 is not even comparable to how 2007 did good for the gaming industry...

one small problem with FO3

DLC exclusive to 360 and PC. PS3 got the shaft AGAIN.

Don't forget about fable2, L4D and Red Alert 3, and those otaku RPG games that I am not interested

My X'mas shopping list includes BD for PS3 and games for 360.

i'd rather play FO3 on PC anyway, so im not too upset about it. however it does annoy me that ps3 keeps losing multiplatform titles

thanks for the heads up... just got the headset bundle

from what i read on some forums, the headset bundle will be in limited quantities.. Sony will only ship them and then eventually stop when the headset stand alone product actually comes out, which will be beginning or mid november for $50

so for $60 with socom.. this is a good deal.. to those people like me who dont own a decent quality blue tooth headset because i dont use them for my cell...

anyways wtf is up with the game installer, mine didnt start installing til 15 mins after i click yes to install it

and now im downloading the first firmware update for the Socom game which is taking ficking forever because their server is being jammed by people who bought the game today..

anyways ill give my take on the game later on when i play it.. never played any of the Socom games before.... but i like the idea that this is a team tactical goal online game as oppose to ur regular team deathmatch FPS.... its strictly online only... no single player campaign btw...

^^^... that i dont know

the server crashed............ suckers like me who bought the game today and cant even play it..

according to beta testers, they did a really good job with the proximity chat.. in terms of realistically...

u hold the L2 button to do a team chat....... but if ur near any of ur teammates, you can just simply talk on the mic and they can hear you, the problem is, if a person from the opposing team is like just on the other side of the wall, they can hear ur voice.... this also applies to team chat...

this should b interesting.. expect to hear alot of "Fuacck i just got shot" everytime you shoot someone with a shotty...

well the servers are back up

its a sweet game but the learning curve is pretty steep....even if you try to customize the controls..

this is definitely not a run and gun type of shooter.. which is something i like... slow and tactical

the game modes are all focus on goal oriented task.. search and destroy, protect hostages etc...

there is a team deathmatch but its like the last of the game mode..

the headset is confusing in the beginning to pair up but the quality is great.. this also increases the usage of voice chat on all ps3 games thats for sure... which is a good thing...

the maps are huge, even for 32 players.. which is also a good thing because it slows things down....
