I need something 40 x 30cm (15 3/4" x 11 4/5") since Ikea uses some whacked out dimensions for their frames.

What do you mean by 'best'?

Best quality, price be damned would be The Lab, ABC Photo or Custom Color.
Best bang for the buck would be Costco.

Recently bought my first DSLR. Any recommendation for a decent camera bag? Prefer within budget of 50$ or less. Looking to carry the camera w/ lense and + 1

m3thods 10-03-2014 02:18 PM

You can turn any old bag into a camera bag by getting a foam insert like one of these:

Colorful Protect Package Soft Case Insert DSLR Camera BAG Partition Padded Foam | eBay

Perhaps not that exact one, but it'll hold body and 2 lenses just fine, and you don't have to pay the premium for a "camera bag".

Otherwise, choose between messenger and backpack types and go from there. There are a million choices, and everyone will tell you that "there's not one bag for everything".

I have 6 bags, plus some for lighting gear

Check costco, they usually have a cheaper bag for sale that's a fairly standard sling style : Here

Anyone going out on wednesday to shoot the lunar eclipse? I'm planning to head out to cypress to see if I can get a few shots or two. Anyone down?

Hehe 10-21-2014 02:07 AM

As many might already know, I'm a gearhead and a sucker for rare fast lenses.

Adding another lens into my current collection... Leica Noctilux 50mm F1.2

I'm actually doing a straight-swap with the seller (friend's dad) for my Noctilux F0.95. Which I think I'm getting a deal considering how rare that lens is. :D

I will post some pictures when I get it.

Does anyone know how they take properly exposed / colour temperatured pictures of tablets/cell phones?

I try changing the white balance setting on my camera and either:
A. Get a proper temperature for my tablet screen (background is a weird colour)
or
B. Get the background to have the proper colour temperature but then the tablet screen colours get messed up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a polaroid camera?

Hehe 12-18-2014 07:22 AM

^

Get the Fuji one. The papers are often on sale and you can just stock them in fridge. (not freezer. You don't want the chemicals to freeze)

I have about 20 boxes left in my fridge. And I believe the average price is about $7~8.

It's great when going on a party or dinner with families... people always love it and I think for $0.70~0.80 per print, it's not bad at all.

Any tips for a noob for:

1) shooting star trails with a D80 + Nikkor 18-200mm. Only have wireless remote(not cabled one) and tripod.

2) shooting star trails with a GoPro Hero3+

^as another noob that's only done it a few times (with average results), here's what i can offer.

Other then finding a place with minimal light pollution, dressing warm, and making sure you have enough battery,

Figure out how to find polaris...it's impossible to visualize how your trails will look, but finding polaris will give you an idea.

Most of the compiling is done by software anyway, so just set the timer to take a photo every x seconds.

I have the Instax Mini 50S. Fuji introduced the 90 earlier this year. Both are less bulky than the Mini 8 and has slightly more settings.

But if those don't bother you, the mini 8s do just fine too.

This is interesting!

Boob photographer

Seems legit.

Which one of you is this?

lowside67 01-21-2015 03:16 PM

It's not me but I kind of wish I had thought of it first.

v_tec 01-21-2015 06:38 PM

Flagged for removal. What was the original post?

Ronin 01-21-2015 08:29 PM

It was a guy that said he's a photographer specializing in photographing boobs and wanted some boob models to pose for him.

Camera noob here, My dad has a canon EOS 10s and is wondering if his old camera equipment will work with a Canon 5D mark iii.

He has a Canon 430EZ flash

Canon 540EZ

Canon Zoom lens EF 100-300mm

Canon Zoom lens 35-135mm

Canon Zoom lens 20-35mm

The body

Also is it possible to buy a replacement part for the piece that goes on top of the viewfinder it keeps falling off.

Ronin 01-23-2015 06:13 PM

Unsure about the flashes but all that stuff should work just fine with your 5D.

m3thods 01-24-2015 07:11 AM

I think the flashes will be manual only.
