^^^ Your monitor is too bright. Your monitor should be set to a white point of 5000K, a gamma of 2.2 and, if at all possible, a luminance value of between 80 and 120 Cd/m^2.

I used the recommended targets for whitepoint and gamma, which looking at it now, is 5800K and 2.2. My brightness is targeted at 120. This was using the Spyder4pro which took an ambient light reading as well.
These are 2 of the photos that look okay on my screens, but the printed version is slightly darker that I would prefer. I'm wondering if they show up dark on your monitor or if they look fine. |

I know these are different lens, but which one do you guys think I should get first?
A Pentax 28mm f/2.8 M42 lens used for around $60 or wait for Canon EF 40mm f2.8?
I use a T3i and currently have 50mm f1.8, EFS 18-135 f3.5-5.6, and a Pentax Takumar 135 f3.5 lens.

if you're ok with MF on the 135 i don't see y the 28mm is a bad idea. kudos to you for MF on the t3i tho, it's brutal for me for moving subjects. i think you need the t4i to fully take advantage of the 40mm's STM focusing feature during movie recording.

I can't focus fast and accurate enough moving objects
I'm okay with stills and I sometimes cheat by using the live view function.

pretty awesome tutorial for shooting birds in flight(BIF's) with the 5D Mk III. he(Gary Luhm) demonstrates the various ideal settings for particular scenarios, be it tracking a bird in a wide open sky to birds that leap off a perch, latterly into a different direction. check it out: Canon 5D Mark III: Autofocus (AI Servo) for Birds in Flight

this is a shot i just took, hand held, using the HDR setting on my new camera. i set it to bracket 3 images, +/- 3 EV.
now, as i said hand held, but a decent shutter speed(1/200th/sec), to ensure sharpness, but there's no way i can hand hold it perfectly still for 3 shots.
and that's where the camera does its thing and aligns the images for me. this is what it produces, the three shots all in one,and only as a jpeg:

I hate watching other people's vacation videos - I simply could not care less what other people did on vacation. I won't make people sit through my videos. That's just me though.

I posted it for $1400 or something, but I'd probably let it go for 1300.
But I've had a couple of offers that are at 800 and 100.
It's kind of funny because the guy was saying that he couldn't really afford it because he was a student, yada yada. Some of the offer stories are just plain stupid
