It's kind of ugly. Just sayin'
Though that keeps the market competitive. |

Hmm I'm very tempted to sell my Sony NEX for the EOS M. I already own Canon gear so this would be perfect. Probably gonna be around $750.

It's ugly and there's very simplistic controls.. look at the NEX7 or the OMD... or even the EP series and the Panasonic GH etc.. Canon's too late with this one IMO.
Upside, compatible with all your existing Canon glass !
Downside, not compatible with any other 3/4 ?

Why can't it look like an old school camera like the Fuji?
And why the hell is it $600 body/$800 kit? That's too much for a 4/3rds.

ok, over at the Canon site: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consum...Specifications -looks like around $799
and there's a preview at Canon EOS M: hands-on preview of Canon's first mirrorless EOS: Digital Photography Review
"The EOS M is available in sleek black, glossy white, stylish silver or bold red colours"
"The model launches alongside two new lenses, the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake and the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM standard zoom, as well as a new compact EX Speedlite – the Speedlite 90EX"

Just that it's APS-C. It probably has some minimal tweaks. Just like how the M4/3 have used the same sensor for all their cameras for years now until recently. I still think the image quality would overall still be better than the m4/3 / Nikon 1 variants but we'll have to see some actual shots. The screen is also a multitouch enabled one which should make adjusting settings easier hopefully.

well, no disappointment in terms of the sensor for this release. the disappointment should have been when the t4i came out and they recycled the sensor. t2i->7d->t3i->t4i ... lol
first impressions show sluggish AF even with the 22mm/18-55 =( for this price it's not too tempting yet. mayb it'll all be corrected by oct

E-mail from Canon Canada this morning. Of course, retail prices will probably be lower.

I had a client who had her camera gear stolen at knifepoint in Stanley Park 2 days ago, so be careful shooting alone at night, everyone.

From Vancouver here down to Seattle....Portland. Any camera store worth checking out in Washington / Oregon? Preferably along I-5 and not too far off.

I'm not sure of any store that stocks it locally, but most camera stores should be able to order it in for you.
