I know I'm bumping out an old thread but...

Does anyone work at the Downtown Costco as of now, and if you do, is it any good? I'm planning to apply at the Vancouver one since it's only 10 minutes difference to the Surrey location (I'm in Surrey). Bear in mind I'm a High School student (Does that matter in the application process?) with some warehousing and retail experience, and I plan to work part-time 8-hour shifts since I'm playing community football Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

I tried to fire off an e-mail of my resume this morning but got an auto-reply saying that the manager who takes them will not be back until the 2nd.

when i got the application form they said you have to be able to work a 4am shift

CorneringArtist 06-01-2009 02:41 PM

4AM? Since I can only use transit to get to DT, I guess the earliest I can go is 6-7AM since the Skytrain only runs that early. Since I've got football in the evening, working THAT early isn't much of a problem.

YOu have to be 19+ to work?

CorneringArtist 06-12-2009 02:16 PM

Don't think so. I'm 17, and I got called by Costco, but since it was at 1PM, I was at school at the time.

sucks lol dont do it

illicitstylz 10-30-2009 10:50 PM

did it a few years ago.

5am-10am shift, you just unbox things and stock items, that's it, nothing else. 11$/hr starting, sundays you get 15/hr.

the perk was you don't have to deal with customers whatsoever unless you work into lunch time for full 8hr shifts. even then, its usually just " where is item X ? ". No nagging c-lai questions etc.

Ornithology 10-30-2009 11:02 PM

Thanks man!

Worked there two or three years ago doing merchandising in the hardlines department (office supplies etc)

It's a straightforward job, gets robotic and repetitive

they have a set list that they pull out and there are like 3 or 4 categories if i remember correctly and you'll have two people in the room usually and the each pick and choose questions while the other records down what you say, i guess to eliminate biases and favoritism if you knew one of the interviewers

Mostly they give you specific circumstances and put yourself in them and ask you if you've ever experienced it or not, and what you did or what you would do.
I cant remember any questions but they were quite specific and lots of talking lol
