I think there is a time limit. Not exactly sure, but the questions on the form goes someting like, "Have you had a tattoo in the last six months?"

I love the questions they ask..........short of asking you if you had sex with a frickin' monkey. "Have you come in contact or work with monkeys or their bodily fluids?" I chuckle each time I come across that one.

Inaii 10-13-2010 05:52 PM

If its within a certain amount of time before the donation (6 months I think) they will deny you. I have a tattoo and have previously given blood. Oops, 89 beat me to it.

Got my card in the mail a couple weeks ago, O+

I'm due in about a month, probably gonna head there again!

MG1 11-11-2010 04:18 PM

Yeah, I'm up pretty soon for another session - every 56 days. They're really desparate for blood. I'm AB+, so my blood is good for just about anything except aliens.

syee 11-11-2010 09:14 PM

I've got mine scheduled for this Saturday. I'm 0+ here.

i always laugh at that too.
I remember the first time i gave blood she asked me "did you have sex with someone who's sexual past you didn't know."
and i said yes, as that was the truth, and she kept asking the question in different words until i said no hahaha.

i'm a B+, i'm special! only 7.5% of the Canadian population

i wish i could donate more often, but i always get new piercings and between being sick, forgetting and getting piercings, i just never find time to do it.

Went again this past Saturday. There was a steady stream of people. I was in and out in just under 45 minutes. Sooner if I hadn't sat around enjoying the cookies and drinks. Hope to see some RS members donating.

Leopold Stotch 12-01-2010 12:27 AM

Quick explanation on the monkey question, because monkeys, prosimians and apes are our closest genetic relatives humans are more likely to contract a disease from them than other animals. Its believed that AIDs originated in humans as a result of eating gorilla bush meat.

Do you guys know of a clinic in Abby or Langley to donate blood?
I spend more time there than I do in Surrey, but all the ones I know of are in churches, which makes me a bit uncomfortable.

I always thought it was because someone had sex with a monkey, LOL.

Click on "Find a Clinic" link in banner. Just type in Langley or Abbotsford.

Location, dates, and times will come up.

Good to hear we got a steady stream of folks from RS donating. It's the season for giving, and nothing feels better than to give someone the gift of life. Best of all, it doesn't cost you anything other than an hour of your time.

Unfortunately blood is always in high demand around any holiday period. The more that we can donate, the more lives that can be saved.

MG1 02-01-2011 05:55 PM

Went again last week.

Need one more to get my 10 donation lapel pin.

So far this calendar year, Revscene has 1 donation. That would be me. They didn't have last year's report available on-line. Did anyone ever see how much we had by end of December 2010? We have a pledge of 15 this year. 14 more to go. Time to roll up the sleeves, people.

Not really racist! 02-01-2011 05:59 PM

Been so busy lately, I think I'm due, maybe I'll try and make a trip down there :S

I didn't count any of my donations from last year to RS..oops

syee 02-01-2011 09:35 PM

I'm definitely due too. Was scheduled for mid January but had to cancel due to work conflicts. I'll definitely have to head down after CNY is all done with.

MG1 02-01-2011 11:12 PM

Between the five or so of us regulars, we are going to do RS proud. We will meet and beat the pledged amount for 2011 of 15 donations.

Leopold Stotch 02-02-2011 11:23 AM

oh man i went last friday, didn't think to put my donation onto RS's

maybe next time, when are you due next old man?

my date was Jan 20, so i think i can do it again mid march.

I don't think it is too late to count your last visit. I posted the steps on this thread a couple of pages back.

all done!

syee 02-12-2011 04:18 PM

Went in today and apparently they just implemented a new booking computer system. I'm guessing it wasn't working properly because it looked like it seriously overbooked the time I went in. I was scheduled for 3:10pm and I got there at 2:50. I didn't get out of there till 4:45 and even then there was another 5-6 people they had to do.

In any case, that's one donation done...next appointment, April.

Not really racist! 02-12-2011 04:49 PM

we should have a blood donation meet one of these days...

MG1 02-12-2011 06:44 PM

Well, they do have that huge ass mobile unit. It can come out to the RS Summer Meet?

MindBomber 02-12-2011 09:33 PM

Why not the RS spring meet as well?

MG1 02-12-2011 11:11 PM

Do it right once, rather than poorly a few times. Plus may be too late to organize it by the time spring meet rolls around.

And no, I am not going to organize it. I have enough on my plate, as it is.
