Every 56 days. I donate so much now I have it memorized.

SiRV 11-27-2012 08:02 PM

anyone want to go this coming Tuesday (Dec 4?)

MG1 01-27-2013 05:38 AM

Went on Saturday my 21st time. Took just under 6 minutes to get a full bag. Stayed off the Diet Coke all day because of the caffeine content and drank three bottles of water instead before going. Seemed to do its job, as they had no problem getting the vein. Usually my veins roll around under the skin making it difficult for them to poke it. Caffeine causes shrinkage, while water plumps up the viens making them juicy.

Lots of young people there today giving blood.

Since you asked, there was this one woman who was very good looking. Beyond hot, cute, pretty, etc. She was a classic beauty - statuesque. She was the last donor of the day. Great smile and great personality. :ahwow:

Two other girls before me were at the cookie table - meh.

A bit late to the party, but just wanted to chime in. Gf's family and I are all very grateful for everyone who has ever donated blood as my gf's dad is sick in the hospital and has needed to do several blood transfusions. Without your help, he wouldn't be on his way to recovery. I think this experience has motivated me to donate as it has hit a bit too close to home. See you guys there in the future hopefully.

You and I are both lucky, then.......... we AB+ people are universal recipients, I believe.

3.5% of people in US are AB+
2.5% of people in Canada are AB+

Both of you go donate more :)
Although we are able to give you any blood group at the hospital, we still prefer to give the same blood group.

ps. random fact: if you are asian, you will most likely be Rh Positive (99.9% asians are)

Yeah, I was asked if I wanted to give platelets at one point, and I was all over it. However, when they found out I was diabetic, they told me it wasn't possible. With platelets, I could have donated every two weeks, instead of every 56 days.

Oh well...........

To be honest, I think O- would be more valuable since other O- patients can only get O-. AB patients can receive blood from anybody lol

That's one way to look at it, but............. universal donors can give to anyone, while O- can only give to their own kind. In any case, we are all brothers in the crusade to save lives.

If anything, I hate the thought that our blood is being used to save some dumbass who takes risks by doing really dumb stuff, like stunts. I'd rather have my blood used to save those who have no choice...... innocent victims or people who need blood because of a disease.

I guess dumbasses need saving too.

^
I've seen the same name at the hospital multiple times. Diagnosis cycles from stabbing, gun shot wound, assault. People don't learn.
