I wish I could support you guys this year but unfortunately am on medication that doesn't allow me to :( Hopefully next year I'll be able to start again!!!! Meanwhile, I'm in the sidelines echoing miss crayon's statement, cheering for everyone who has donated/planning on donating!!! Keep up the good work guys, it's for a great cause :) |
OK, went yesterday for number 22. Took longer this time 8+ minutes. Getting old, I guess. I drank so much water before going that I felt like I was going to explode. Closing in on that 25 pin! Oh yeah, cute blonde chick was back from stint at platelet side. |
Is there a way to check that you're registered under the rs group? |
^I was wondering the same thing Never got confirmation nor anything Posted via RS Mobile |
You don't need to. You simply tell them you're donating on behalf of Revscene. They should be able to check in their database. |

#23 yesterday 2 more for the pin! |
Just an update. The partner ID is still true to code. Everytime you donate you may simply let them know our partner ID and your generous donation will be added to their database for Revscene. And MG1, thank you for your donations on behalf of RS! |
I urge everybody to go donate.. BC is running dangerously low on its blood supply | News1130 Quote:

Thanks everyone for the update on the email. I had updated the file about a month ago when I was scheduling the big donation drive from RS. I told them to delete everyone off of the file so I don't know what went wrong. Anyways, thank you all for letting us know. I will be contacting them directly. Update: 7:29PM VLS apologizes for the emails that were sent to any of our members in regards to this issue. Canadian Blood Services apologizes for the invasive notice if any members had chosen to be anonymous. All contacts have been updated and in the future, please contact me directly for any fundraising or charity info that RS Cares is part of. Thank you. |
i've considered giving blood recently but in the last 3-4 years ive probably had about 5-6 blood tests and just taking 2-4 of the small vials i feel like i'm going to faint each time dont think it's really shock because i dont even look when they draw the blood, so it could be because of the fasting before hand? anyone who donates experiance anything similar? |

They deferred me first time I was donating because I ate 2h before my donation appointment. Must be a filling meal too. If you feel dizzy i/they won't recommend you donating blood. --- Got differed last week because my hemoglobin was too low :( |
Did #24 last Saturday. One more for the pin! Eating before donating is so important. One time, I didn't eat before going. After donating, I felt dizzy. I hung in there until I reached the bathroom - it was a struggle not to look like a whimpy Asian. I sat on the toilet to recuperate. After gathering enough energy to get up, I headed for the little lunchroom to eat and drink their cookies and juice. Always ate plenty before going after that ordeal. Also, drink plenty of water to plump up those veins. No caffiene at all as it shrinks the veins, making it hard to extract the blood let alone find a good source. The donors you meet at the clinic are really friendly - I guess because they are caring and giving individuals. Never seen a miserable person there. The staff are a pretty happy bunch, too. This is the clinic on Oak Street, BTW. I have not donated anywhere else. MeowMeow....... women tend to have low hemoglobin and I've seen more than a few get deferred because of it. Hondaracer, being diabetic, I do those fasting blood tests once in a while. Its tough, for sure. I force myself to relax, because being stressed out (anxiety) makes things way worse. Believe it or not, I get blood drawn from the back of my hand. Sounds gross, but because of the location, they have to use those thinner butterfly needles. Way less painful. They don't like to use the butterfly needles because it costs more. |
Oak Street clinic never disappoints me as well... First time I went they had some newbies....... and I let them try me... ended up missing the first two times... ended up getting poked 3 times :lol |

Sorry I should have been more clear, I meant delete everyone as in previous rs reps which was bellydanceryuna and I think jace. People who donated under RS's partner ID should and still be in the system as a member, you may check next time you donate but from my understanding they only took off the old reps so they don't get confused on who to contact. Leopold Stotch- I hope this answered your question--if not please let me know. Posted via RS Mobile |
