So just straight 2.5 and a single SS muffler? It won't be crazy loud? That's the setup I want, I can get that done fairly cheap. Hell I could have that for the next meet, if I can find a muffler I'm happy with.

Where should I check out locally? I don't want to order from the states.

I think with that setup I was told I'd be gaining about 8 rwhp.

more like 29ish.. the Rb setup gives you about 30 35 and thats because it comes with the headers.. this custom setup is just as good as the RB system.. and if u actually think your lacking power after this you can always buy the RB header.. and that might give u 5 more hp or so... but me at this point 5 hp is not worth 450$ american.. go with this setup and i promiss youll fall in love with it...

Magnaflows would work fine but if they look like what I think they look like then I think you should buy something in the 'N1' style like bcty and I have. I know HKS and Apex'i have both cat-back and universal N1 style mufflers plus other companies like Reactive make all sorts of styles including N1.

I think lordco can order me Magnaflow, so I'll probably end up going with something from them. I've read only good stuff about em on rx7club.

Now, to sort out the details. When I go to the shop to get the exhaust done, what EXACTLY do I ask for?

2.5" all the way to the manifold? Do I go Stainless Steel? Mandrel bends? Should I ask for thicker wall piping? Any other details I have to include?

The Magnaflows come in 2.25, that can be fitted to 2.5 pipe, correct?

Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it!

Thumbs up Magnaflows

I didn't know Magnaflows looked so nice. I don't think 2.5" into a 2.25" inlet muffler is necessary because the opening into the muffler will be the most restrictive part but if you can find a muffler with a 2.5" inlet that would be best and, yes, you can have it made all the way to the manifold but the hardest part might be finding a flange that bolts to the manifold. I don't know if a exhaust manifold flange is something that muffler shops keep in stock or if you'll have to order it from Mazda.
The other thing is if you find out you don't want it so loud all the time, you might want to make your new exhaust just cat back and have a separate header made plus a third small 'test pipe' or 'mid pipe' that you can put in where your cat goes if you want to be loud. This way you have the option of reinstalling your cat if you want to be a little more quiet. The third thing you can do is have a second 'mid pipe' made with a resonator that will be quieter than the straight 'test pipe' and less restrictive than your cat.

naaa tjhey cna do the same they did whiht my exhuast and even at the same shop

get the muffler 2.25 is pretty much the same stainless is exp not need

just get cut marled bent steel you most likl will not have to get it cut and just bent

not as for cats ad flang easy as hell

what they will do is take you cat cut the flange off of that and connet the piping to it easy as pie that the way they did mine and works great

Hmmm perhaps Mazda made a little-known econo FD? Either that, or that guy that owned it should do a little more research before swapping engines.
