Nancy's ^ Old write up. Went for da lang tonight. 3 items. THEY RAN OUT OF PLAIN CONGEE. WHAT THE FUCK. seriously, open till 2am, people are coming in for late night and you dont have congee? they offered us salted congee but who the fuck wants to eat salted congee with their already salty dishes? 5/10 passable because the dishes were at least okay. |
Shady Island at steveston 2/10 my halibut was all batter |
Shady Island at steveston 2/10 my halibut was all batter :bullshit: |
Steamrollers (West Broadway) 2.5/10 Traditional Beef Burrito Needed a quick lunch first time here. Result = ultra bland with stringy, unseasoned brisket. Best part was either the steamed flour tortilla or the can of coke. Nearly $10. Apocalyptically unappealing. It's edible, I'll give it that. Who eats this crap? Longhorn Saloon & Grill (Whistler) 4/10 BBQ Chipotle Ribs Big rack of meaty boiled ribs smothered in a basic bbq sauce. Less is more, but not here. Fries were decent but were the best part. Accompanying daily soup (cream of mushroom) resembled minestrone in a different colour; passable. Watered down Tom Collins. Filthy menus. Seems about 90% of the restaurants in Whistler are garbage. |
Pho Kim Long - Las Vegas, Neveda Spring Mountain 8/10 - Service was alright, the waiter and waitress were okay, but they didn't reply back when we asked them stuff 6/10 - Food was just borderline. My Pho Tai Nam was rushed, it literally came out a minute later. The Bun Pho was really hard/chewy so I'm guessing they just took it out of the fridge and poured the soup on right away... 8/10 - Pricing is reasonable Overall - 7/10 |
Eatery 0/10 how the hell is this place still open...? Honey Garlic wings = tasteless microwave wings with a pound of sauce on top, hard and stuck to the bone. Sushi is expensive and the rice is crap. Took some home and ate a piece a couple hours later after being in the fridge and almost threw up honestly there are a hundred other places in a 5km radius... service was horrible, server tripped and spilt food and drinks on a customer next to me, I don't blame her, the restaurant is pitch black... Tried Ji Sushi for Happy Hour AYCE 6/10 I like the fact that its 3-5:45, can be very convenient sometimes and also means an early dinner for me cause I was full till the next morning. service is slow and forgetful, sushi is alright, and cooked food is so-so Overall there isn't enough selection compared to most other lunch AYCE in vancouver. |
Italian Kitchen Downtown Service - 8/10 Service was pretty good, kind and super friendly. Took them quite a while to set up our table even though there were reservations Food - 7/10 Pasta sauce for my spaghetti was a tad bit dry, found a small crab shell in one of my kobe meatballs, but overall portions and taste was pretty decent Price - 8/10 Pretty reasonable, considering that it's downtown and it's part of Glowbal Overall - 7.5/10 |
Romer's Burger Bar on Kerr. Food 6.5/10 - Burgers was only ok, not enough sauce and kind of dry; the drunken donuts was good though. Service 9/10 - Service was good, gave us peanuts while we waited for our burgers. Overall 7/10 |
Wings on Granville! Wandered in after the parade today. Got 40 wings between 3 people at $0.39 each. Tried honey garlic, bombay pineapple, Louisiana sweet, and Greek. Bombaby was my favorite and Greek was least favorite. Service was lacking but our waitress apologized because 2 people called in sick so she needed to run 3 sections by herself while training 2 new girls! Overall enjoyable experience for a quick lunch :D 8.5/10 Posted via RS Mobile |
Pink Peppercorn 9.5/10 Service was excellent and my lobster was very tasty. Gf had the chicken breast which was a bit salty but everything else was good. Shared the baby shrimp cocktail for an appy which was meh. Got a creme brûlée on the house as it was my bday which was also quite good. Will go again. Posted via RS Mobile |
Flying beaver Wings Sunday 9/10 salt and pepper wings were pretty dry, but taste was really good, thai chilli flavor was amazing 7/10 service, sat at the bar and the bartender kept forgetting my drink, but was very friendly |
Saigon House (Toronto) Grilled Chicken and spring roll with vermicelli 8/10 |

Damn! Was The Eatery really that BAD? I thought about going there to try it out for the first time next week. Got me thinking twice now, Thanks! |
You don't go to the Eatery for sushi. |
Dream Sushi (main street) Got the Chirashi don. Rice was bleh, was much too warm. Tuna in it was good, mackerel was not so good. Salmon was farmed, but at least fresh. Octopus was not fresh. Shrimp was cooked and was hard as bullets, I think it was sitting there from overnight as I was the first one in there today. Tamago was just a lump, not fluffy at all. The sign outside has a note outside from the chef saying how he's always trying to continually improve and such and welcomes you there. I made the assumption they were japanese owned and operated. I should have walked right out of there the moment I heard them all speak mandarin to each other. I already had a bad feeling about the place after soaking in the ambiance. I'm know I'm a bit of a sushi elitist. It wasn't too bad, I'm sure if you still eat that orange salmon, then you won't really care. I'd give it a 5/10 as the food didn't make me sick. Service-wise, since I was the only one in there, about a 7/10 |

I'm sure a few of their rolls are alright The Eatery - Interactive Menu Good luck sorting through that eyesore of a menu though ... in the pitch black restaurant too might I add Avoid the tempura style rolls, they are way too soggy. Perhaps try some of the cooked items? Don't try the beef short ribs unless you like the feeling of a teaspoon of dry salt in your mouth |

Was told an hour wait, we were like.. :okay: Then not even 10 minutes later, "we have patio for you". Ohhh realllly....! Ordered rodeo burger. Meh..just tasted of BBQ and that's it. Should have stuck with the Man's Man burger or tried the rib burger. 7/10 Service was impeccable though, came to check, offered water, drinks always looked after, and even split our bills (even split orders of drunken donuts.. not many servers are willing to go through that effort or even have that in the POS system!) |
White Spot BC Chicken Burger with Zoo Sticks. Good and satisfying as usual. 8/10 |
Cattle Cafe 7/10 typical ayce hotpot place....Place was empty and quiet; so it was nice to have catch up time with an old friend... Danny's Market solid 10/10 for their Screamers....ntn beats the heat with this + a shot of vodka in the slurpee mix. |
some places i visited in the past week or so: Joyeux Cafe Had my usual seafood noodle with the tomato broth. Didn't taste as good as the previous times I had it. But the chicken wing dish saved it for me. 7/10 Chau's Kitchen Usually won't go into an Asian place full of caucasians, but I was craving pho and needed a place with decent atmosphere for lunch. Though the pho was expensive and small, their beef carpaccio was amazing. I'd go back just for that dish (though still on the small side). 7/10 Insadong My new favorite place for Korean in Vancouver (well . . . Coquitlam/Burnaby in this case). Came here on several occasions the past month. Though there were dishes that were misses for me (ie. I preferred the bibimbap from Yaohan food court more than theirs :(), I'd highly recommend their tempura, seafood udon and ling cod soup. 8/10 |

Cha Chan Tang (NYC) Minced Beef Rice and "Special Cold HK Milk Tea" 9/10 This place blows BT cafe away |
Les Faux Bourgeois I got the Beef Tenderloin while she ordered the Mussels and Frites. Food was good (not terrible, yet not outstanding)..value was awesome. $17 for 30 mussels and fries was a good deal imo. 8/10 |
If you want muscles, go to salad de fruits or bin 941. The ones at chambar are overrated. |
