jinya on Robson St (new ramen place)

8.95 for a bowl I think. I tried the chicken wonton ramen and it was pretty good. Really rich actually. The wontons were more like giant ravioli lol

service was a bit funny. the girls are all japanese and a bit fobby. They got our orders right, but messed up the order for the folks next to us.

8.5/10

8/10 for meatloaf 16$ USD? not sure

I never get 30 minute waits, 5-10 at most.

worth it cause the prices are cheaper than most and the selection is good.

Bonka 08-11-2011 01:27 PM

Phnom Penh
7.5/10

Usual 50 minute wait. Skin on the deep fried wings are good as usual but the flesh was overcooked. Same with the fried calamari = rubbery. Luc lac rice with fried egg, butter beef and pea shoot tips easily the best of the dishes. A lot more yuppies and hipsters there than I remember..

Burgoo
7/10
SLOW service. Crab bisque runs thin for a bisque and lacks overall depth and tastes rushed. Grilled cheese is a ripoff and an insult. Hardly any cheese yet greasy and bland. Great strawberry lemonade however. Overrated.

Meowjin 08-11-2011 02:13 PM

i have no idea why burgoo has such slow survice. been 2 years since ive gone there becuas eof that.

bcrdukes 08-11-2011 02:33 PM

Which location? Their Main Street location was known for dreadful service.

Bonka 08-11-2011 02:46 PM

Main St, indeed. About an hour for the soups and sandwiches to arrive. Their chocolate chili pot and banana bread pudding are good though.

I think it's a Main St. thing.

Choon Ha Choo Dong - 9/10

They've had a change in management and now service is top notch. Food has changed a bit but the service makes up for it.

They serve a mix of japanese and korean food. I know that most places that double dip in different cuisines aren't normally good but I would recommend you guys giving them a try. I've ordered from both menus and food here is good!

yep this one.

Seriously, the soups may be good, but it's long waits and horrible horrible service.

Fuck hipsters.

kcl38 08-11-2011 03:36 PM

The Reef on Main. Ordered a beef mo-ca burger (2 kinds of cheese, jerk mayo, grilled pineapple) with plantain chips. Food was good with decent service. 8/10

Went to Sweet Revenge afterward. Bad service and out of the 4 desserts we ordered only enjoyed one of them. Would not return. 4/10

fliptuner 08-11-2011 04:53 PM

Venice Chinese Restaurant (formerly Happy King)

-beef fried rice
-beef fried rice noodle
-salt and pepper silverfish
-whole crab with cream sauce

Pretty sure it's the same owner and staff but newly updated and a lot cleaner.

Food was a solid 7.5/10
Service was slow for that type of restaurant 5/10

Burgers' Etc.

Beef burger with fried egg and bacon, meat done @ medium and a side of fries

It's my favourite burger joint.

9/10

palepilsenpin0y 08-13-2011 01:22 AM

Celine's Fish & Chips @ Granville Island: 8/10

Oyster burger was pretty good. Onion rings were alright, although they're great if you're craving for 'em.

Chop in Richmond

Prime rib with baked potato
