Kaboom Box

Oyster Poboy...

It was pretty good. Oyster was yums. $8, taxes in. Better than food court food. Too bad I had to eat it alone :alone:.

miu garden on victoria sucks... went like 2 weeks ago.. anyone know how main one is?

racerman88 09-10-2011 08:37 AM

went to Hawkers Delight on Main and King Ed yesterday and it is always good food.
The Curry Chicken on rice is my favourite dish. Only downside is the lack of seating.

7/10

Fucking good, but I docked 2 points off because this is a prime example of gentrification. It's busy though because alot of their clientel are lawyers from the courthouse. Must check int he area if you are in dtes

Is it still an AYCE? Price?

Need so much more detail. I still fucking hate their underground parking.

Most. Retarded. Design. Ever.

Splmash 09-13-2011 12:14 AM

We need a Mui Garden RS meet.

8/10.

Had the Curry Boneless Chicken with rice during reg price (($10.50) after 6pm) and special price with a free drink or soup (($8.95) 11am - 6pm).

Tasted pretty good not really spicy, a more creamy flavored curry. Chicken were really smooth and juicy, not dry at all.

Only difference between the two is the special one's portions were noticeably smaller.
Nonetheless, i would definitely go again.

they also include a piece of hair on the curry :'(

sorry for not replying sooner guys!

there is AYCE and there is MENU style...AYCE IS 24.99

servers are much nicer and more attentive to your needs, for the food, you can tell they put effort into plating and cutting (sashimi) and simply all around quality of the produce (no skin or bruising on sashimi or suhi), the marinade on the bbq can actually be tasted unlike shabusen, all around very good for AYCE

they also renovated the entire restaurant to make it have a much more relaxing and modern feel

parking is still a pain in the ass tho! the only real negative about the place is the part where you grill the food, its a mesh style grille, i would prefer a flat style so the entire area heats up evenly, but surprisingly the mesh style isn't too bad either

oh and they have jello(it didn't taste old or hard!) and this other kind of pudding, sorta like a green tea pudding instead of that coffee one that shabusen had

im not sure if its still going on but they have a promo for a limited time that with your AYCE you also get free pop with free refills

they still don't have a website yet as it is pretty new, but i might go there this weekend and this time i'll take some pictures

Pho Tam in Surrey

Had the #10, basically everything (brisket, tripe, tendon) and 2 meat spring rolls.

Broth was lighter in colour but still tasty. Noodles weren't over done and tasted clean. Lots of tripe and tendon. 7.5/10

Spring rolls were some of the largest i've ever had. They used a different kind of wrapper (wheat?) than most restaurants. A little on the oily side for my liking. 6/10

spoon.ek9 09-15-2011 08:02 PM

went to a new restaurant on cambie st today (near 17th)

Noa Pan Asian Bistro

off the top of my head we ordered:

1. deep fried chicken wings with lemon dipping sauce :sweetjesus:
2. beef brisket and tomato noodle soup
3. indonesian chicken fried rice (excellent imo)
4. hot and sour soup

the wings alone are worth the trip to this new place!

nice atmosphere/interior design, good service, decent prices, great food. there's a lot of other food on the menu i'll have to try.

9/10

Went to Golden Ears pub in Pitt Meadows today for 8 cent wings. Not fricken bad at all for the price they sold out then started selling 2.99 burger and fries. Food was great and can't complain about the prices at all 8/10
